Having stayed there twice (latest in September 2004) it is my hotel of choice if your interest is a visit to The Corning Museum of Glass which is less than 5 minutes walk away. To reach the town you cross the bridge over the river for an easy walk of around ten minutes, passing on the way a well-stocked supermarket (with cafe) so it is conveniently placed whichever your interest. It is also quiet, being well off the main highway. The foyer is rather small and on first impression austere. But the service is obliging and friendy. The same area is used for a self-service basic breakfast of coffee, cereals, toast etc. that is included in the room price. If you want a more substantial meal there is a popular cafe cum baker (luscious cakes) right next door although the service is a bit slow. To one side is an attractive reasonably sized swimming pool, also used occasionally by a local school for training. I think it is free to hotel residents but have not tried it myself. Most important, the rooms are capacious and well equipped - at least by British standards - with large comfotable beds and all the usual add-ons, television (that I never use) and a fresh coffee maker with ground normal and caffein-free coffee supplied. No problems with the service. Floors have an ice maker and drinks machine but there is no fridge which could be a drawback in the summer. There is only one lift but it has been quite adequate when I have been there even when the hotel is full. It easily takes a wheel chair. It should be OK for the disabled for whom there is a special room with a purpose-built shower but no bath as in the normal rooms. There is a dining room for an evening meal but I have yet to put it to the test. If your interest lies in the town you might prefer an hotel a little closer in, but for the museum it is an ideal situation in pleasant surroundings with easy parking.

With 2 families (1 of 40s with 2 teenage kids) and 1 of 30s with 1 toddler we had a good stay in the hotel. It was good we could enjoy breakfast in place next to hotel and dinner previous night in town. Hotel was good arrangement for a night.
