Historical Traveller Reviews of Holiday Inn Express Hotel
Very nice experience
We stayed two nights at this hotel, and had a lovely time. We had never stayed at any Holiday Inn before. Our room was on the first floor, and was clean, quiet, and had very pleasant decor. Both the couch and bed were extremely comfortable, and the sheets were nice and soft. We had a standard room, not a suite, but it was a good size and had a refrigerator and microwave, and a full cable lineup. We did stay after Labor Day when prices went down, and felt that it was definitely a good value for the price we paid- $119. The hotel was not full, and we had no problems with unruly children running the halls, but that's another reason we like to vacation after Labor Day! The Great Room where they serve the free breakfast is beautiful, very bright and sunny with wall to floor windows facing the mountains. While I didn't necessarily enjoy the breakfast choices (my own opinion- I'm more of a whole wheat person), the food was definitely plentiful. My children loved it! The fresh apples were some of the best we've had outside of an apple orchard. The staff was excellent about refilling items. We stayed here mainly because of the convenience into Cooperstown- the HOF is only about 6 minutes down the road. Quite convenient when mom's feet hurt from all the walking, but the boys all still want to wander around town! The pool water was pretty chilly, but the hottub was a great temperature, although it was extremely loud when the jets were on... definitely too loud to converse, even with someone close by. I was pleased with this hotel and would stay here again.

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend in a suite which has 2 double bed and a sofa bed. The carpet looked worn out with a big stain, the decor is what you would expect in a HI express although the bathroom has granite. Breakfast was - continental style- danish etc with fruits in a great room with glass windows by the lobby with the morning sun glaring. The price is too much for the quality - $256 for a suite and $199 for reg room - and this is a group discounted price.
We were in a room at the end of the first floor. For much of the time we were in the room there was this creaking sound in the ceiling. Not the sound you hear when some one is walking above you, but more like pipes.
the hotel did check on it, but nothing they could do. suggest you stay on the second floor.
usual breakfast provided. rooms ok. Prices are on the high side for a holiday inn, but probably can charge this due to being in cooperstown.
by the way, we found the baseball museum to be a big disappointment.
Great place for families
This hotel was perfect for a family vacation. We reserved online and check-in was very smooth. We arrived early but were allowed to check in right away We requested a refrigerator and microwave which was brought in immediately after we got into the room. The room was immaculate as was the bathroom. The beds were comfortable and the room decor and bedding(very stylish) were a great change from the boring pastel like colors of most hotels. The continental breakfast that was offered was exceptional-(besides the regular fare, it included hot cinnamon buns and hard boiled eggs). The pool was clean and a good size for the kids. This hotel was an excellent value for the price.
The rooms are fine, staff polite. The beds are rocks, the pillows were so thin we had to go out to buy our own for the second night there. This hotel books a lot of teams so kids were running thru the halls and a bit out of control. The air conditioner is very loud. Smokers line the front door sitting on the stoop and blowing your way as there is no area for them to sit . The pool had no fewer than 18 young boys in it and was very small, so not if you are not geared for family don't go!
We checked in and then checked out after only 2 hours because of the smell and noise at this hotel. I put a T-shirt on the pillow since I found the linens very substandard and scratchy. The open eating area on the first floor creates a very noisy area where the sound travels throughout that level. People running on the next floor sound like elephants overhead. There were also ants and a spiderweb in the bathroom and the ceiling light was broken. There is no housekeeping after 4 PM. The worst value ever for $199 per night. Thankfully a last minute call to the Otesaga resulted in an available room. The Otesaga is a palace compared to this place. And the Cooper Inn which is the same price as the Holiday Inn Express is also much nicer. I would give the Otesaga a 4 star rating and this a 1 star. The Cooper Inn 3 stars. The Holiday Inn Express is 4 miles away from town, not near anything, so you have to deal with parking in town which is not easy.
The best hotel for a family
We just returned from a quick visit to Cooperstown and I could not wait to leave a review about the Holiday Inn Express. If you are travelling with kids this is the hotel to stay at. We had a family suite which consisted of a living room and two bedrooms. We also had a microwave as well as a full refrigerator in the room. The rooms are clean and bright with granite countertops in the kitchen area as well as the bathroom. There were 3 T.V.'s in the room as well as a DVD/VCR player for the kids. The suites are very roomy and comfortable. This is the best Holiday Inn I have ever stayed in. Pool was O.K. a bit crowded for us but overall a wonderful hotel.

Okay, I am not one to spend time writing reviews for every place I go. But having based my travel plans consistantly with TripAdvisor recommendations,
I think anyone traveling to Cooperstown should trust the comments here regarding the Holiday Inn. The room was IMMACULATE, from the bathroom to the sheets, which is the most important factor that affects my decision when traveling. The place was quiet considering the amount of kids staying here. The breakfast is adequate- you won't get waffles like some chains offer- but the cinnamon muffins are great! The only weakness I would mention is the size of the indoor pool. It is modest at best. If you are looking for a romantic getaway- try a B&B. If you have kids or plan to have alot of activities during the day- stay here!
Typical Holiday Inn Express

Basically the best you'll find in a town as small as Cooperstown. Looked better than any of the other places in the area. Clean, modern and free breakfast included. It's a typical Holiday Inn Express but since its in such a dar out town, its better than the rest of your options
This new hotel was truly delightful. The staff from the manager on down is extremely friendly, and they offer a 10% triple-A discount. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with excellent beds. The continental breakfast saved my family a ton of money, and included rolls, bagels, pastries, cereals, coffee and juice, etc. Come early, it can get crowded at around 9:00am. There is a small pool, which can get crowded easily, and a gym that only has two treadmills – so this is not the place to work out. But it is an excellent place to stay if you’re going to Cooperstown.
In terms of restaurants, there are a number of cute places in Cooperstown. I would avoid the nearby Peppermill restaurant, even with the free drinks offered to those who stay at the hotel. We waited over an hour for our food and the employees were smarmy.

HOF Game Tickets
We arrived the February weekend that tickets went on sale for the annual HOF game in May. We waited on line (indoors) for about 2 hours, but this gave us free admission to the HOF for that day, plus a great excuse to return to the area in May!
The pizza place right across from the Hall of Fame is excellent.

You're on your own. There is no taxi services to speak of!
