A terrible hotel

I have stayed at the Hyatt in Buffalo twice now because my company has a deal with the hotel and I am required to stay there. I have stayed in Hyatts all over the world and they've generally been good to excellent. The Hyatt Buffalo is horrible. The beds are uncomfortable. The carpets are dirty (although last time I stayed there was a notice in the room that they would be cleaning the carpets.) The lobby shop that sells toiletries, snacks, magazines etc. is closed when I get back to the hotel at 6pm. The walls are so thin that one morning the alarm clock in the room next to mine woke me up. I've had to change rooms because the ventilation system was making a loud thumping sound that maintainance could not fix. Service is also awful. They told me they were going to change me to another room and would call me back in a few minutes. 45 minutes later I called the front desk and they admitted they forgot about me. When I tried to make a long distance phone call I was told there was a "block" on my phone. They didn't know how to take the block off so I had to go to the lobby and make my calls from the pay phone there. One of the two phones in my room didn't even have a cord connecting it to the outlet. "Earth to housekeeping, please report something like that before the next guest arrives!" I could go on and on but I'll stop now. As soon as I can convince my company's travel office to let me stay somewhere else I will never stay at the Hyatt Buffalo again.

Just got back from an overnight stay at the Hyatt Regency in Buffalo. I should have read the previous reviews on it before I booked it. The lobby was about the nicest thing about it.

The place looks impressive from a distance, however I have to agree, it does not give the Hyatt brand any justice.

The rooms, albeit large, were outdated, carpets were filthy (outside the rooms and in the rooms), the were spiderwebs on every window (inside and out); someone should take a thorough critical walkthrough this place and give it a good scrubbing!

Walls are thin, the beds were very uncomfortable, we did not bother to even stay for breakfast, we left as soon as we could.

Really a shame, I have stayed in many Hyatt hotels, it is certainly not a 4 or even 3 star. Two stars is being generous.

Pros:
- Great location in downtown Buffalo, best hotel in this area
- Huge well appointed lobby
- Large rooms, many updated
- One of the best steakhouses in America (E.B. Greens)
- Friendly, helpful staff (I called for a razor, shaving cream, and mouthwash) and they sent it up within minutes
- Parking is only $6 a night accross the street

Cons:
- They don't have valet parking
- Some rooms are in need of updating, ask for a different room if you find yourself in one of these rooms - don't settle for the crap rooms
- The stairs are not well appointed, but then again everyone uses the elevator

Summary: When I travel to Buffalo there is no place I'd rather be than the Hyatt. The Hyatt allows you to sleep comfortably and safely in a run down city like Buffalo.

we were there in the hotel for 2 days the hotel was good for the price however the carpets in the hotel were not up to the standard of hyatt in fact they were dirty and i want to suggest that at least they should provide 24 hrs tea and coffee service as complementery.one more thing they should provide car parking at the nearest car parking at the rate of 2 $ per day.

Disappointing

This hotel gives no justice to the Hyatt chain. Very disappointing, needs to be updated. Room service was horrible, including the room. After complaining online and by telephone contact to the district manager, a complimentary night was provided including room service. 2+ years later, I have a special night arriving. I live in the Buffalo area and I just cannot allow myself to even consider this hotel.

Needs changes

This place needs some help. The first problem I experienced is the lack of experience behind the counter and with not the greatest customer sevice. But don't let a few idiots ruin the rest of the people that work there. Other employees were great very friendly and very polite. The rooms really need a face lift. Our room was okay, the walls were thin, remote to the TV didn't work, Clock radio kept turning off and the phone flashed as if we had a message, which there was none. And parking, if you go during the week be prepared to pay a bunch for the parking garage across the street. During the weekend I noticed that it was fairly easy to get a parking spot on the street by hotel.

Not a typical Hyatt property. Lobby was nice. Staff very curtious and helpful. Rooms were worthy of a one star hotel. Old nicked up furniture. Only one chair to set on at the desk, and not very comfortable. The hotel had just switched over to cool mode. The system in our room rattled & vibrated. They sent someone to fix it the next day. It was quiet for about 8 hours and then started all over again. We didn't get much sleep. Carpet was filthy!! Slidding doors on closet were broke. No exta outlets. You get an ironing board & iron but the only place to plug it in was in the bathroom!! I did ask to see a few other rooms, but they were all basically the same. Also, you must park in a parking garage a block away and PAY! The location is not very desirable. I would not venture out alone. My husband was attending a conference, So we had to stay there. I would never go back! If you don't have to stay there, don't!!

Great Hotel

Booked the Hyatt Buffalo on Expedia and found it very clean and nicely decorated. The room was quite large for 3 people, though the airconditioning was none existent. We did complain and had an engineer up to the room within 10 minutes, he was more than helpful and supplied us with a fan. The Reception staff were also most courteous which added to making our visit to Buffalo and Niagra Falls extremely enjoyable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Once again our sincerely thanks to all at the Hyatt Buffalo.

There is nothing wrong with this hotel

I stayed here a few weeks ago, and had not problems with it. One of it's greatest qualities is its proximity to Chippewa, site of many restaurants and night spots. The room was clean, and beds were comfortable. In fact, I'm staying there again this weekend.

Needs updating!

The positive is the staff, which is courteous, pleasant and does their best to be accomodating. But the significant negative is the facility, which is old, worn, and much in need of renovation and refurbishment. The most significant problem was the hotel's HVAC, which was not prepared for a warm April in Buffalo. According to hotel staff, the building's ventilation system runs in "heat" mode until it is switched for the summer season over to "cool" mode. When you are stuck in between seasons, as we were, you are just out of luck. My room was unbearably warm and all they could offer was a shrug and a circulating fan. As for the rest of the physical plant, it looks like it was a lovely place in the early 80s but it's glory days are long gone. A much needed investment of capital is needed to bring this hotel up to the standard evoked by its name brand.

Top Local Tips for Buffalo

Don't bother visiting Niagara Falls, USA The view of THE FALLS from Canada is definitely the most spectacular. Also, there are lots of other attractions to visit. I would suggest simply booking a hotel across the border in Canada even if it means that you'll have to awaken very early for the drive back in order to make your flight. There is nothing to see in Buffalo, NY, nor Niagara Falls, USA.

Urban saddness Hotel is a few doors away from social services agencies so expect to see a lot of down and out folks on the surrounding streets. No street people or begging, but a lot of sad cases, and its quite a contrast to the magnificent backdrop of some of North America's grandest buildings. Hopes for a city that was.

Buffalo Wings I have tried both Anchor Bar and Duffs. You like good wings try eitehr place. I could not say one is any better than the other. Bith great places. Anchor is bigger though
