Historical Traveller Reviews of The Santa Fe Suites Hotel

Comfortable, great deal, friendly and helpful staff

from B_from_GA
I was very impressed with my whole experience at Santa Fe Suites. I'd had a hard time getting to Santa Fe - late flights, missed connections, etc. It was very refreshing to be greeted by friendly, accommodating people at the desk. I was also pleasantly surprised by how well furnished the room was - bed, couch, dresser, TV, kitchen area with sink, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, dishes and silverware. It was more than enough to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. I did stay in the room by myself, though. My brother's family (3 people) was next door. Because they had a lot of stuff from travelling, it was a little more crowded for them - they had a 2-bed suite. Still, they liked Santa Fe Suites. We would all stay there again. The price is very good. The continental breakfast was also nice - several choices and plenty for us - cereal, oatmeal, waffles, toast, muffins, yogurt, fruit, juice, and coffee. The nearby Albertson's (walking distance) was nice for picking up a few groceries and supplies.
Management Response from HALEKIPA
We are so very much appreciative of your numerous positive remarks on our front desk, and housekeeping staffs.
Our main efforts remain focused on guest service and guest comforts while still maintaining a very reasonable room rate, especially in the Santa Fe area.
Thank you again for taking the time to thoroughly review us!

Sweet suite!

from cajunmujere
If you are searching for value plus amenities this is the place. The grounds are kept immaculate and the suites are adorable. Beds were comfortable and you have a kichenette in case you want to eat in. Staff were courteous and responsive to needs.
Management Response from HALEKIPA
Thank you so very much for your review. Under our new ownership, we have continued to replace our beds, and still maintain value with our reasonable rates. I am pleased that our front desk staff were attentive, and also responsive to your inquiry of noisey guests nearby.

Nice people at the Santa Fe Suites

from Meinestespark
We arrived at the Santa Fe Suites late in the evening after driving straight through from Estes Park, Colorado on our way to Arizona. The warm and kind reception from April was much appreciated.

On our return home from Arizona we stopped in again and April gave us a quit room where we slept great. The great rate includes a continental breakfast and fresh coffee. Thanks April!
Management Response from HALEKIPA
Thank you for staying with us during both of your trips through Santa Fe. Your gracious comments on April's handling of your stays with us, were greatly appreciated by both management and herself.

A Great three weeks

from MikeGeorgia
Was required to work in Santa Fe for three weeks. The Suites was recommended by a friend.

Arranged that my room would have access to Wireless Internet. Room came with full size refrigerator, microwave, stove top burners, dishwasher. Double bed, small couch/convertible for bed.

Room was very clean and bright. Office staff over the three weeks were outstanding. Helpful and cheerful in every way. the same may be said of the cleaning staff. No ice maker in refrigerator but would leave a note in morning and ice would be there when I returned.

Internet in lobby, books in lobby. Continental breakfast 6 to 9, varied, alway cereal hot & cold, danishes, English muffins, bagels, fruit salad, yogurt, coffee, tea, orange juice.

Motel totally convenient to Route 25 to Albuquerque, and via St Francis downtown or to north, or west to Cerrillos Road.
Management Response from HALEKIPA
I sincerely appreciated your review, especially as a longer term guest! We are grateful for your comments, and pleased that we upheld our guest services to make your stay "outstanding" and hopefully we became your *home away from home*. Thank you again!

Nice and quiet !

from Zoyote
The room was a nice size for two people. Everything was clean and fresh. The staff is friendly and helpful. A short drive to all the sites in Sante Fe. Our room was tired, in that it could have used some upkeep on molding trim and minor items which showed signs of age. Overall, it was a pleasant experience for my wife and I and we will plan on staying there on a return trip.
Management Response from HALEKIPA
Thank you for your comments on your recent stay. Our housekeeping staff does their best, and your positive notations are appreciated. Our Housekeeping Manager completes daily inspections on all suite changeovers to maintain our high standards.
We are continuing to repair and replace those issues of trimwork etc, as we update the hotel from its new ownership in 2007.

Clean and convenient

from cgbyron40
The Santa Fe Suites are as advertised. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff is friendly and attentive and the grocery store is a leisurely walk across a couple parking lots. The breakfast foods were fresh and plentiful, even though we ate out every day but one. (Tia Sophia's is great for breakfast, just south of the plaza.) The bed was really comfortable and the temperature in the room was easy to control. The only things lacking in the room were CD & DVD players, which would be nice in the evening. Radio reception is a little sketchy. The drive into downtown Santa Fe is about 10 minutes or so and really easy. We will definately stay here in the future and would recommend it for others.
Management Response from HALEKIPA
We thank you for your guest stay comments. We will keep your suggestion for a CD or DVD player in mind, as an increase in our amenities.

very happy

from blucoyote
I have stayed at the Camel Rock Suites two times, once for 3 months in 2005 and again for 4 months in 2006. The staff were very nice and helpful. I liked the kitchenette and the convience of Albertsons. Trader Joes, Wild Oats, and Whole Foods are close by. I stayed in one suite that had only a shower (small) and one that had the bath/shower combo. I liked the bathroom with the bath/shower best but the room with the shower only better, if only they could put the bath/shower in the other style room!! The rooms and property are well maintained and they have the best laundry facility around ($2.00 per load at the time). I saw them cleaning carpet in the suites about once a week, so you can walk around barefoot in them. I had great views. I don't know what the other reviewers expected but the room size is okay and living there for an extnded period wasn't that bad. Only downside is that you have to use dial up in your room, other than that I'd stay there again.
Management Response from HALEKIPA
Thank you for your thorough review of our hotel subsequent to your dual stays in 2005 and 2006. You can request the bath/shower combo versus the shower only, at your next visit. We are proud to have a large and secure laundry facility with food and beverage vending machines. We continually steam clean our suite carpets on a consistent basis for that very reason you cited.
Since your stay with us and under new ownership, we have upgraded our internet access with Wi-Fi to 3 buildings and will expand it further. Our 24-hr business center has a guest computer/printer with cable modem, and is wireless as well.
We look forward to your return visit!

Convenient for business and/or touring

from cocica
In terribly expensive Santa Fe, I found Santa Fe Suites to be reasonable, and very accomodating. I will absolutely stay there again.......and recommend it to friends.
Management Response from HALEKIPA
Thank you for staying with us in Dec of 2007, especially as a NM resident. We truly appreciate your honest comments.

Everything is great except...the bed

from ninko999
I completely agree with the previous reviewer. This is a nice, clean property, safe, well-kept, and the little suites are comfortable. The lobby computer with internet was useful. I didn't eat breakfast, so no comment there. Right next to Albertson's and Office Max, very convenient. And a low off-season rate.

But the beds and the bedding are way beyond their lifespan and should have been replaced long, long ago. A saggy and lumpy mattress. Two thin and lumpy pillows. And a bedspread with multiple large holes and tears in it. It's too bad that such a nice little place doesn't match their other high standards with better quality on the one thing that really, really matters: the beds we sleep in.
Management Response from HALEKIPA
We very much appreciated the recent dual reviews concerning our aged beds and bedding.

Our management, front desk personnel, and the housekeeping staff recognized that specific and major problem and requested it to become our # priority by the new owners.

As a result, the beds and bedding are being replaced as of mid-December on an expedient rotating basis.

For our new and returning guests, please contact our reservations and request our upgraded mini-suites, until such time all of our suites are refurbished.

If any of our guests have a complaint or concern during their stay, I sincerely ask that you contact myself or our front desk personnel and express your concern, so that we may resolve the issue during your stay.

Beware of the beds

from garyfromcolorado
Stayed here for six weeks while on temp work assignment. Nothing bad to comment on in regard to the staff, they were very nice. The maid service was fine as well. Okay for a "guy" who is working massive hours out of town without the wife, but...as for the beds? OH MY GOD....I should have slept in my truck, or on the floor. My back will never be the same.

Top Local Tips for Santa Fe

Take quarters! Much of the parking in Santa Fe is metered, on the street. There are two hour time limits and you need $2.00 in quarters for each two hour stretch. Eat breakfast at Tia Sophia's and have dinner at least once at The Shed. They are both near the plaza and are reasonably priced with really good food.

JUST GET OUT ASAP! DON'T STOP AT ALL! TOURIST TRAP! OVER RATED MESSY, TRAFFIC CON FILLED "NOSE IN THE AIR" RESIDENTS!

Rent a car Santa Fe is a beautiful city, and there is a lot to do and see outside of the city limits (for instance, the Tent Rocks National Monument, Georgia O'Keefe's Ghost Ranch, etc.) so, I highly recommend renting a car.
