Best deal in all of Santa Fe! Can't get a better location for the price. All within walking distance to the Plaza and Canyon Road. Rooms are clean. This place does an amazing repeat business. I know people who have been staying there for years.

I have stayed at Garrett's Desert Inn three times and found that it is obviously really just an older motel. The bathroom has hardly room to turn around, the fixtures are dated, and the windows are elderly (and dirty) aluminum ones. There is little attempt to "brighten" up the large room with any modern touches. That said, we liked the dressing area off the tiny bathroom. However the main reason we stay there is the accessibility to downtown Santa Fe. Whenever we stay there, we park the car (for a rather large fee--unlike any other motel I have ever stayed in) and walk everywhere. For the reasonable room price, we couldn't find any other facility so convenient to the shops, galleries, and restaurants of Santa Fe.

Top Local Tips for Santa Fe

Lunch in heaven. Worth a beautiful drive into the foothills - Rancho de Chayamo for the BEST New Mexican food (not to be confused with Mexican food). Lovely setting, very friendly staff.

Outdoor hikes and panoramic views Drive up to the National Forest - to Aspen Vista. There is a great hike there and beautiful vistas. Fort Marcy Park in town is also great for views of Santa Fe and the mountains, especially in early morning or late afternoon sunlight.

Loved Balene Restaurant at the Inn and Spa at Loretto Great food and wonderful service. Cozy and upscale.
