Blessing in Disguise

What serendipity that we would end up at Four Kachinas inn for our 15 year anniversary last month. The "other" B&B down the street lost our reservation and we didn't find out until 4 days prior to our planned celebration! Talk about stress, as it was right before the big festival weekend and nearly everything was sold out.
We stayed in the older part of the house, and loved every detail of our room and bath. Not your typical "southwestern look" as you would expect in Santa Fe! Beautifully and richly decorated, wonderful artwork and appointments.
While we were told it wasn't a full breakfast, it might as well have been! Was so good I bought one of the cookbooks w/ a few of their recipes.
Walter is a gem... We enjoyed our conversations while he gardened.
I highly recommend the Four Kachinas, and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Perfect place to stay

Four Kachinas is always my top choice of place to stay in Santa Fe. If you want a cozy place (about five rooms), with engaging innkeepers, then this is the place to go. The rooms are all spacious and beautifully decorated - nothing cheap or run of the mill. For breakfast, there are fresh baked breads, etc, and on my last visit they also had a hot food item which was a super addition. The breakfast room is always available, so you can get tea or other things to drink, plus they keep some sort of snack for you too. The owners and staff make you feel like someone special, and not just someone to fill up a room. It's also in great proximity to the downtown area. I can't say enough good about it.

My husband and I usually stay at hotels. But we picked Four Kachinas Inn for the price and we were not disappointed. We were there for 9 nights (sept 10-19). The first two nights were in the Chimayo Room (#4). The rest of the stay was in The Kachina Room (#1). At first we loved #4 and didn't want to move. it's spacious and pretty, with a king bed. #1 seemed slightly smaller and only has a queen bed but we settled in and ended up enjoying it even more than #4 because it has a private patio and it's at the end of the building, so only one neighbor. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very, very clean. The beds are super comfortable and we are very picky about beds. The Inn is within walking distance of the Plaza, Canyon Road, lots of restaurants. It's really ideal. And it is blissfully quiet. We had a chance to really settle in and it felt very homey. Every morning we looked forward to the declicious breakfasts. The innkeepers and staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We really didn't have time to research our trip so each day we relied on them to give us ideas of where to go, what to see, where to eat... and they never disappointed us! Each night we raided the common area for their yummy homemade cookies. So all in all we give our stay an A+. And it's worth it to note that it is the first time in all of our travels that we felt we would return to the same place for another visit.

Superb Stay

We have lived in Taos for 10 years and are very familiar with the Santa Fe lodging choices. The Four Kachinas Inn is as good as it gets.
Great location on a quiet side street off the Paseo de Peralta---it is only a short walk from the B&B along the Old Santa Fe Trail to the plaza----passing noted restaurants, shops and boutiques, the legislature's "round house" and colonial churches along the way.
The owners are knowledgeable guides to the current restaurant offerings and they put us onto some of the lesser known (and less promoted) dining gems.
The Inn is lovely with spacious rooms, beautiful gardens and courtyards. The rooms have individual air conditioning units and are decorated with some very nice Navajo rugs, Hopi kachina dolls and regional furnishings.
A visit to Santa Fe will be enhanced by a stay at the Four Kachinas.

Nirvana in New Mexico!

The Four Kachinas Inn is nirvana in New Mexico! Fabulous fresh fruit platters and warm homemade banana bread are served for breakfast in the lovely courtyard. Innkeeper Walt was so compassionate to us when my sister's flight from San Francisco to Albuquerque was cancelled and we had to arrive in the wee hours of the morning. He left the key in the mailbox along with a lovely welcoming letter. The inn is walking distance from the plaza and is on a quiet residential street just off Paseo de Peralta. We got informative hiking tips from the staff and great restaurant recommendations. I'm a sucker for beautiful bathrobes and this inn's were gorgeous and fluffy. The decor is Santa Fe slick and each wall is painted a different color. We'll be back for sure.

With two friends, I visited Santa Fe in July, 2005 and stayed five nights at the Four Kachinas Inn. Service, accommodations, food were all excellent. Our room was not only clean and comfortable but lovely as well. The hosts were helpful and friendly. We especially enjoyed being able to breakfast on a patio surrounded by flowers and trees. Though not for kids, Four Kachinas close location to the old downtown district made it a great place to stay. I would recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Santa Fe.

We have stayed many times at the Four Kachinas and absolutely love it!! The rooms are large and perfectly done in Soutwestern decor. An excellent breakfast of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal and freshly baked goodies is served in the comfortable "common" room. Cookies, soft drinks and coffee are available throughout the day. There is even a jacuzzi. The owners, Walt and Wayne, are very hospitable. Staying at the Four Kachinas is a must for us when we do our annual visit to Santa Fe.

What a great little inn! Walk into a lovely courtyard with fountain, patio and hot tub. Beautiful furnishings in the guest rooms, each of which have a private entrance and some even have a private patio. They serve a delicious breakfast (though no hot dishes), home-made cookies in the afternoon, and beverages are available around-the-clock. Very helpful with information about the area and even printed our boarding passes the morning we had to leave!

This B&B in Santa Fe is simply the BEST. The owners and inn keeper give you personal attention everyday, the breakfasts served are gourmet, the rooms are artfully decorated, the location is within walking distance to the town center, and staying there is just plain fun. My visit in April was a return visit after several years and I would not think of staying anyplace else but The Four Kachinas in Santa Fe.

The Four Kachinas was the first time I had ever stayed at a B&B and it was an excellent experience. Both my girlfriend and I thought it was an extremely well run B&B and the Inns Keeper "Walt" was truly friendly / knowledgable of the area.

In addition, it was nice to be able to wake up each morning and have breakfast with other couples that were staying at the Inn. We especially enjoyed meeting the couple from Texas, who gave us a good summary of the Austin area...

Overall, we would definitely reccomend this place if your thinking on going to Santa Fe. It has an awesome location (walking distance to Old Town), was extremely clean, good food, and Top Rate Staff...!

Top Local Tips for Santa Fe

Bandelier Make sure to see Bandelier NP and take the walk to the waterfall. The hike down the canyon is unforgetable! Don't forget-it's about 1.5 miles down to the falls and 1.5 miles back uphill. Take your time, it is worth the hike.

If you have only one hike in Santa Fe Hike Tent Rocks. It is absolutely incredible. The hike is popular and there may be a bunch of people out, but it is so magnificent that you will not notice. The slot canyons are beautiful, the views spectacular and the mountains amazing.

Georgia O'Keeffe museum Is not worth the admission price. Very disappointing because I like her as an artist. The best part was the movie which is pretty sad.
