Inconsistent service makes this an iffy bet

First the good: the breakfast was quite good and had many options to suit a variety of tastes. It's obvious from the "manager's coctail reception" that management is trying to find more reasons for people to stay here and the man staffing the bar was pleasant and friendly.

Now the bad: the hotel is located near a very busy highway. We could hear the hum of cars all night in our room. Even though we had requested a second floor interior-facing room (and paid for it 2 weeks in advance) we arrived and were told they were sold out and we would have to settle for a ground floor room facing the highway. The woman on the front desk was unapologetic and very rude about the situation. I asked to speak to her manager and she said he was unavailable until 9am the following day. I told her that I would prefer my money back since they did not have the room I requested available and that we would find another hotel. She told me that my room was already paid for and that this was all my problem.

Given the inconsistent service, I cannot recommend this hotel to others.

lousy housekeeping

When I first arrived at the hotel and saw my best friend of 29 years, we were ecstatic to see each other. It was a Thursday, and no one was in the tiny little lobby except us. We were told to "keep it down" by the clerk. They apparently don't welcome reunions in their lobby. I had requested extra towels and extra pillows on line, but I had to go retrieve them myself. We stayed 2 nights. The housekeeping was so bad, I had to report to the manager how filthy they left our room. They also had a large group of teenagers staying that Friday, and they were not told to "keep it down." The manager took 10% off my bill for all my complaints.

Our comment cards, remarks and reviews here from other guests tell us that we are usually right on the mark with our comfortable facilities, exceptional cleanliness and professional customer service. I offer my apologies that none of those qualities were in evidence during your stay.

I addressed the customer service issue with our front desk, and I do want to let you know that it's not at all that we don't welcome reunions. We take all our calls and reservations at the front desk, and the front desk person was unable to hear a caller on the other end of the phone. Again, my apolgies that he was not more polite in his request.

Hopefully we'll have a second chance to earn your business.

Very, very nice and affordable

We are grandparents and wanted to take two (ages 5 & 7)grandaughters to the museums and zoo. We found this hotel on the internet through TripAdvisor. The price was affordable, so we booked it. We were very happy with our room. The girls took a dip with POP POP in the hot tub, then settled in for the evening. We noticed quite a few young people at the hotel and found that there were cheerleader competitions going on. We never heard a peep from them. Whether they were extremely well behaved, or our walls were thick, or we were just tired, we never heard them. Our room was clean, and we were comfortable with our girls walking around and playing on the carpeted floors there. Breakfast was nice enough, it was free, after all! The girls had pancakes, bacon, and fruit, juice and milk. We had biscuits, bagels, coffee and juice. I really can't think of a downside to our stay! We went to the Children's Museum at the Pueblo Center, the Natural Science Museum and the Zoo. We had a BLAST!!!!!!!!!

for $10 more a night, stay at Homewood Suites

pros: comfy beds, spacious suites, nice staff

cons: gritty fake eggs at breakfast, iffy location, no on-site gym/fitness room, very low water pressure in the showers, agonizingly loud air conditioner (when we reported it, the desk clerk said, "yeah, I can believe that!"). No restaurants, shops, etc within walking distance, not that you'd necessarily want to walk around there anyway. We were accosted in the parking lot by some woman (not a hotel resident) who wanted either gas or money... very weird.

Maybe a Hotwire/Priceline price on this would make it worthwhile, but not for me. We paid govt rate, and for $10 more/night, I'd go back to the Homewood Suites on Arvizo. In fact, I will. We won't stay here again.

I'd like to address your concerns, as I felt they were very important:

Eggs: We do not use fake eggs, but the real deal. They are packaged though, and we have provided additional training for our kitchen staff to make sure that they are prepared well, and are moist and delicious!

Location: While we are ideally located to reach anywhere in Albuquerque within just a few minutes by car, it is true that our part of town is not designed for the traveling-on-foot tourist. To compensate for that, we do provide a complimentary shuttle service.

Gym: We opted for the choice of providing our guests with a complimentary, full service gym nearby rather than trying to convert a sleeping room into a fitness room. I am sorry that we were not able to meet your needs in having one onsite.

Water Pressure: Our Chief Engineer is tackling the problem. It's not a hotel-wide issue.

Air Conditioner: You mentioned that the staff was nice, but I was so disappointed in our front desk's response to your comment about your air conditioner. That has been addressed with our staff.
We routinely inspect, test and replace our room furnishings and appliances. I am very sorry that your air conditioner was too loud, and we are replacing our older units.

Parking Lot: Our staff regularly travels the hotel and parking as a pro-active measure. Again, I offer my apologies that you had that experience, and my promise that we continually strive to increase our level of customer service and provide high quality, safe, clean and comfortable facilities for our valued guests.

I do hope you will give us another chance. If I can be of service in any way, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Clean, quiet hotel with nice little perks

Took the advice of other tripadvisor folks and booked 3 nights here. I'm particular about noise, and found this hotel to be quiet enough for my standards. Liked the free high-speed internet, free cocktails at happy hour, and hot tub. Good location next to freeway and somewhat near the UNM campus area.

Will stay here again!

Clean room, very comfortable beds, quiet. Enjoyed the free happy hour. Located at I-25/I-40 intersection, but did not hear any road traffic (had a west facing room). No pool in the winter months (outdoor), but did use the hot tub.

Good Hotel

A good hotel for the price. The breakfast buffet was excellent, hot foods include eggs, bacon and potatoes. Our room was very quiet and clean. One minor problem is that we had a non-smoking room on the 2nd floor above smoking rooms. You could smell the smoke in the hallway and a little in rooms. We had to keep the air conditioner on all night. Would definitely stay here again, but request a non-smoking room on the other side of the hotel.

We have been steadily converting most of our smoking rooms to non-smoking. It's slow going as we have to replace all furnishings, bedding and window treatments as well as clean the walls and carpet until no odor remains, but your comments and the comments of our other guests showed us that this was important.enough to do the conversions.

Very satisfied with our stay

My wife and I stayed for a total of 4 nights in this motel and found it to be a very nice place and a super place for the money.
Our room had 2 queen-size beds, was very quiet, was clean and was roomy.
The complimentary hot breakfast was very good and we also enjoyed a free cocktail in the evening.
The courtyard was attractive and comfortable. The staff was friendly & accommodating.
If you travel with lots of luggage, as we do, be aware that there is no elevator, so you might want to ask for a first floor room.
We will definitely stay at this chain when we can.

Great Hotel

We have just returned from our 5 night stay at Clubhouse Inn - Albuquerque, NM. I had spent hours researching hotels in the area, including, but not limited to, the reviews listed on this sight. The hotel was very reasonably priced. Overall it was at least what I expected, and more. We booked a king suite. It was nicely decorated and more modern that I had anticipated. The bed was very comfortable, and plenty extra pillows were available. THE HALLS AND LOBBY WERE METICUOLOUS LOOKING AND ALWAYS HAD THAT "FRESHLY CLEANED" SMELL. The pool water was clean and clear, the pool towels were always stocked, and the surrounding patio area was also kept well. They also have an indoor hot tub. Simple, but again, very clean and well kept. The staff was courteous and helpful. They had no problem with us checking in even a couple hours ahead of time due to an early flight arrival. The hotel serves a complimentary hot breakfast buffet every morning, including eggs, hashbrowns, french toast sticks, sausage or bacon, pancakes, biscuits, yogurt, fruit, cottage cheese, bagels, toast, and all the usual beverages and fixings. It really is as good as you'd get at any other "breakfast type" restaurant. Upon arrival we were given tickets for 2 complimentary drinks at the manager's reception. That is also available every night (except Sunday). They offer beer, wine, and a selection of mixed drinks. The hotel is on a main street (Menaul) that runs east and west in about the middle of town, right off of Hwy 25 (north and south). If you have a car, everything is about 10 - 15 minutes away. There are plenty of restaurants within 5 minutes away. Despite the fact it is located right off the highway, there are no extra noise factors or safety issues to consider. It was very quiet our entire stay.
The one thing to consider is that it is a two story hotel, with no public elevator. If climbing stairs is an issue, I'd suggest requesting a first floor room.

Nice room, great staff

We were only able to stay one night this trip, but we will be back to this great hotel.

The staff was very nice and super friendly. Our room was large and clean. I love that it was an inside corrider and we could walk to the breakfast room from inside.

There was free internet access in the breakfast room as well.

Breakfast was great, all the things you could want - eggs, waffles, meats, toast, juice, etc. Served fresh and great quality.

No complaints here!

Top Local Tips for Albuquerque

Great deals Loved El Patio! Great food, great vlaue, great service! Also liked Papa Felipe's, Sadie's, breakfast at The Range, and breakfast at Casa de Benavidez. The Rattlesnake Museum was fascinating and the zoo and aquarium were amazing and inexpensive.

La Montanita CoOp, a Nice Alternative This co-op has 3 locations and really great healthy food to eat-in or carry-out. I spent 3 days in ABQ and ate my most meals from La Montanita and loved them!

Overrated attractions/Taos Pueblo Paying to get in a place for the exclusive purpose of spending my money on trinkets always unappealing to me; and frankly don't "get it" on why anyone would reccomend this to others! Not a good value on time or money spent in my opinion.Most of the vendors in my experience didn't even live there, "it's just a job"! Caveat Emptor!
