Top Local Tips for Princeton

Dining in Princeton area After driving to 4 or 5 extremely crowded restaurants on a Saturday night at 6PM, we decided to skip any more restaurants and drove to Wegman's along Route 1 (just south of Princeton University). If you're not familiar with the Wegman's supermarket chain, make it a point to visit. We ate in the market's cafe area, where every member of my family found something to enjoy. One daughter had a hoagie, another had pizza, and I chose the always wonderful Chinese buffet. Ignore those crowded Route 1 restaurants and look for Wegman's.

See Nassau Hall This is one of the most historic buildings in New Jersey. It was fought over during the Battle of Princeton and served as the home of the Continental Congress for a few months. It is on the campus of Princeton University and easy to find.

Great grill and wine list at Salt Creek : Bring your appetite! If you are nearby, the Salt Creek Grille in Princeton is a choice steakhouse. My group enjoyed a sampling of salads, fish, steaks, ribs, and the unbelievably massive house pork chop along with a wonderful selection of wines. Sunday nights are 1/2 price for by the glass, which is a great way to match courses- but you can get a steal for a $3.50 glass of a lovely California white ot Argentinian Malbec or pay 14.50 (normally $29/glass) for the Stag's Leap Artemis. The Ahi Tuna Stack, Bacon-wrapped Jumbo Shrimp and House Salad wowed us, not a single one had room left for the delicious looking desserts! A Ruth's Chris is opening up in late July and will certainly take some muster from this lovely gem, but any gastronomic will find something they will like, if not love, from this menu. Enjoy!
