Very nice airport hotel

First, I am a bit confused. I saw a couple of the worst reviews and they said they paid nearly $300 a night? Anyway, we stayed here twice – separately coming and going out of the country. One night was with reservation, and another we just walked in – and got the same rate of a bit over a hundred dollars ($120 approx). Anyway, a reasonable rate and the rooms were very nice. The beds are very comfy and nice (including lounging around a number of hours waiting for a midnight flight). The rooms are pretty big – a big bed and room enough for two people to eat some good room service with pull out table from desk. The service was generally good – efficient and friendly. Room service staff were good – I was even called back and asked if everything was OK. The only bad service thing was it took awhile (over an hour) for a maid to deliver some Kleenex I asked for – even though it was the middle of the day and there were maids all over the place. But that is a small thing – the service and room are both great. I am likely to travel through Newark a lot and will not hesitate to make this my layover/overnight hotel.

I stayed overnight In Newark on my way back to Los Angeles from London. I wanted something clean, affordable and VERY close to the aiport. The Spring Hill Suites turned out to be the best option. Once I landed at Newark I took the monorail (or "sky train" as they ask you to call it—can you only say "monorail" at a Disney them park?) to the hotel shuttle stop and waited for approximately 20 minutes for the Spring Hill Suites shuttle to arrive. Once on the shuttle, it seemed like a very short ride (about 10 min) to the Marriott "complex" (three of the Marriott properties are adjacent to one another) where the Spring Hill Suites are located.

Check-in was very quick and painless. I had read other reviews that complained about the lack of food on the property and this is somewhat true as there are no restaurants serving dinner located on the Suites property, but the front desk staff was very helpful in resolving this problem. Options include taking a 60-second walk to the Courtyard property and getting an order to go (which is what I did, but watch out, there is a mandatory gratuity included on all take-out orders,) catching a shuttle to the main Marriott property across from the airport terminals, ordering food to be delivered (the front desk has menus and recommendations,) or taking the Spanish Tavern shuttle (not sure exactly what or where this place is, but the fact that they pick you up and take you home is somewhat impressive.)

The hotel looks and feels quite new. My room was extremely clean and comfortable. Free high-speed internet connections are available wirelessly in the lobby and by ethernet cable in the rooms. Access was easy and, of course, the price is right.

The next morning, I waited about 20 minutes for a shuttle back to the aiport (they run about every 30 min,) but arrived in plenty of time to catch my flight. Although my time here was short, I really enjoyed my stay here. I was quite impressed with the quality and convenience of the property. I would definitely stay again.

I planned a last-minite trip to New York for New Year's and this seemed like the best value and amenities at that time. The hotel turned out to be all we could have asked for, nice room, good restaurants. They had a lovely indoor pool and spa with an exercise room and sauna. Also a room with computers to check email at the end of the day. The front desk staff was excellent and helpful and very nice during this busy time for them. The transportation could have been improved on. It took a very long time in picking me up after calling them when my flight arrived. And there are no real clear instructions from the hotel on the best ways or alternative ways to get into NYC from the hotel. I had to rely on the forum in Trip Advisor and other people around the airport for that.

A safe choice at Newark Liberty International

Have stayed at this hotel four times this month. The hotel's location is excellent particularly if arriving at the International Terminal B.
It is a three minute walk to the hotel across a car park and over a road if you cannot be bothererd to wait for a shuttle bus. We found the staff very helpful even when minor things went wrong. It is a standard Marriot with a satisfactory restaurant. The three different rooms we stayed in on different visits were all as requested. The bathrooms are slighlty smaller than usual.The biggest plus for us were that the rooms were incredibly well soundproofed and we were not disturbed by aircraft noise. The beds were comfortable and everything worked in the rooms! For a stop over at the airport we found this hotel a safe choice. It is not a top end Marriot but neither is it by a long shot the worst Marriot we have stayed at.

My husband and I were having a diffifcult time deciding where to stay for a quick weekend trip to NYC. All the hotels in the city were outrageously expensive and the ones that were reasonable seemed "sketchy". So, ultimately we decided on being closer to the airport and just commuting each day into the city. The hotel offers a shuttle to the airport that is very reliable, and from there we would either take the bus or train to Penn station in newark and proceed from there via train into the city. The whole process would avg about 1.5hrs to 2.5hrs depending on the time of day. The hotel itself was not to shabby. The only real complaint I would have is that the cleaning staff didn't come around till 10:00pm to clean our room, by then we had just arrived from a long day and were beat, we thought they would of had plenty of time to clean our room while we were gone all day. We refused the cleaning and later called the front desk for some fresh towels, soap, and shampoo and they were promptly delivered. The staff was overall very nice and the service was slightly above avereage. We would stay there again if it wasn't for the long commute into the city each time.

Worked well for us

We flew into Newark Airport the night before a cruise out of Port Liberty (Bayonne) and stayed in the Newark Airport Marriott hotel. It was more than adequate for our needs and quite convenient to the terminal. For an airport hotel, it was pretty good. The rooms were unbelievably quiet (and we were on the airport side) and reasonably clean. One warning though: the web site tells you to go to through the parking lot and wait at the curb for the hotel van. What they don’t tell you is that when you leave the baggage area of Terminal A of EWR, you hit a small covered area that used to be a parking area until 9/11. So we walked to the far end of the regular parking lot and waited at the curb. No van. When we called, everybody got confused as to where we actually were. So we walked back to the terminal to seek a cab when we saw the van.

The steak house in the lobby was quite good.

The hotel was only about a five mile/fifteen minute cab ride to Port Liberty.

A tiny tiny room
No one to help us with our luggage
Threadbare sheets on the bed

In short, the kind of airport hotel room you would pay $99 a night...

If you have to spend the night at Newark, do it somewhere else.

We will try to NEVER stay at any Marriott ever again.

Very frequent traveler, stay at Marriotts often. (over fifty nights this year so far)
DO NOT STAY HERE! OR, IF YOU DO, CONSIDER YOURSELF FOREWARNED.

There were holes in the curtains, bedspread, and desk chair.
The room smelled horrible!
Bad housekeeping. Someone else's washcloth was left in the shower.
The bed was not made correctly - I had to remake it! (And I'm not picky - but the bottom sheet did not go to the top of the bed - missed by about two feet.)
The staff was rude. (I called to be picked up from the airport and they neglected to tell me to wait down the stairs. The driver said this happens all the time because the desk staff is, um, mentally inadequate.)
The concierge lounge breakfast was worse than a Fairfield Inn pre-fab breakfast.
Tiny, tiny room.
The most expensive Marriot I've ever stayed in was so not worth it!

Poor service and rooms for the price

We were forced to stay the night at this hotel when we missed our connecting flight. We were tired after traveling overseas and this hotel made it even worse! Unlike another review I read, when we mentioned that we were without luggage we weren't offered any "goodies" even though were were traveling with small children. I think this Marriot takes it for granted that they will have business because of their proximity to the airport. But, next time, we will definitely pick another hotel.

The first rooms were dirty and smelly, so we requested other rooms. To our horror, they proceeded to give us a room already occupied by other guests. Fortunately, the other guests were not in their rooms when we walked in. When we went downstairs, the manager then placed us in other rooms that were actually worse than the first two and then proceeded to offer us a free pay per view movie that we never used for our trouble. Which to me was an insult after what we had just experienced!

This is the first time that I have ever been to a hotel that actually gives you a cheaper room the third time around. Pick another hotel at the airport if you want a decent room and decent service.

Arrived in the evening and was allocated a smoking room even though I was confirmed for a non-smoking room. They attempted to try and say I had booked a smoking room until I showed them a copy of the reservation. No apologies were made by the staff and no effort was made to find me a non-smoking room I would have left but it was too late in the evening to start shopping a different hotel.
Overpriced at $250 per night.

Top Local Tips for Newark

Never stay in Newark if you are traveling to NYC Just dont do it - big hairy mistake - nothing near the airport at all. huge travel time - scary scary scary neighbohoods that the busses go through -

Marriott Newark Airport hotel if you are planning on staying at the hotel, plan your trip to arrive on either a friday, saturday or sunday. their weekend rates are much cheaper than the weekday rates and you can book them direct from the Marriott hotel web site with no onerous cancellation fees.

Watch out for Marriott Liberty Airport Hotel There is absolutely no advantage in being at this so called Airport on-location hotel. It may as well be 5 miles away as one has to take the shuttle to the terminals anyway. The hotel has very unreasonable bait and switch parking charges. It is $20 a day but only for the time one is a guest. As soon as you sign out to catch your flight it goes up to $36 a day. Why do you suppose one goes to an Airport Hotel...it is not for local site seeing!!!
