Great Place!

Very pleased with this hotel. With NY city costing so much - we decided to stay in Jersey City. We were happy with the hotel. The location is not far from city. We walked 2 blocks to catch PATH train which took us right into midtown Madhatten in about 10-15 minutes! Hotel was nice and clean and in nice part of town. Suite was roomy and bed was comfortable. We had 4 people in room (2 on couch) and very accomodating. Kitchenette in middle of room was great. Lots of counter space with microwave and frigde. Looking forward to staying next time we go to NY.

----Room: Ive been upgrade to a corner suite with a magnificient view of the NYC skyline. Room were huge, very clean and luxurious... They were renovated recently so all were clean and confortable. DoubleTree bed are very confortable.Bathroom are bigger than most of NYC hotel.

---Restaurant: The 4Fifty5 restaurant offer a good cuisine for the price. They is several other restaurants in the hotel area inluding a ''Chili's'' a grocery store is a 5min walking distance.

--Transportation: The PATH train station is 5min from the hotel like 2 blocks from the DoubleTree and offer service to downtown NYC for only 1.50$. Train run 24 hours a day. If you are arriving from LGA take a CAB to the nearest subway station wich is Astoria for about 10$ then after transfert at the path train station on the 33th street otherwise it will cost you about 45 to 50$ to run in Jersey city by a taxi.

For the price you cant expect better than DoubleTree Jersey City near NY downtown.

PS: For the price I do not recommend the Courtyard Mariott even if he is 1 min from the train station he is more expensive and less luxurious.

Will defenitly stay here again on my next trip to NewYork

We have just returned from a week at the Double Tree Club Suites in Jersey City. My Girlfriend and I took our two 19 year old daughters to see the sites of New York. We had a large corner suite with two sweet dreams beds and a pull out couch. The beds were amazing. It was hard to leave them to see the sites. The staff of the hotel were overly helpful and friendly. The hotel offers a free shuttle to take you and pick you up from the surrounding area. The Beautiful new mall is right next door, so you can shop until you drop. The path train to New York is only a block awayand is very safe to ride. This conects to the subway, so that you can go anywhere in New York very easily. The path train and subway run 24 - 7 for easy travel. This hotel over looks the Hudson River and Manhatton. The view from our window was beautiful day and night. There is a walking path accross the road that follows the Hudson for a senic stroll day or night. The area was very clean; quiet and very safe allowing the girls to take walks day or night. The staff was amazing, and the valet parking attendants greeted us by name every time we entered and exited the building. I would return to this hotel often. It was like returning home after a long day in the city. Everyone always had a friendly face and was willing to help any way possible.

This hotel is great! I stayed here for 2 nights with my family. It was a very nice hotel and I really aprecciated the warm cookie they gave us at check in. The rooms were very roomy and very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The restaurant breakfast is a really great deal and so is the dinner. This hotel is close to all the attractions, across the street there is Newport Mall and behind that is a ferry to take you to Manahattan. The train runs beside the hotel but is still very quiet from the lower floors of the hotel. Check in and check out went very smoothly. The staff was nice and helpful. This hotel was very nice, one of the best!

Stayed 3 nights Wednesday to Friday. I've stayed at the Hyatt and Candlewood Suites in Jersey City as well. Service is definitely a notch down from the Hyatt but still pretty good. Had friendly and helpful interaction with the employees.

The Newport / Pavonia Path station is a slow pace 10 minute or a brisk 5 minute walk. Parking is $10/day with in and out privilege. It's not pricey but would be nice if it were free.

The warm chocolate chip offered at check in (for all guests) is a nice touch. Rooms are spacious. Beds are o.k. -- not as nice as the Hyatt but much better than the standard Holiday Inn Express / Ramada Inn variety.

Overall great value for money (if your real destination is NYC) with great subway access.

Spent one night at this hotel. Area is very new and clean. Mall and BJ's are across the street. Hotel is adjacent to train tracks but don't hear the train from the room. Pleasantly greeted by front desk clerk. Had a great night's sleep, bed was perfect. Loved the warm cookies given at check-in. Hotel is in great condition, felt new. Parking is $10/night and is gated. Initial room had toilet issues so were promptly moved to another room.

Pretty good hotel. Convinient location.

We (family of 4. kids 5yr and 1yr.) stayed at this hotel recently and enjoyed the 2-day stay. The suite was spacious.

Pluses:
- Spacious room. Decent (not luxurious) furnishings.
- Great location for Newport mall shopping.
- Grocery store nearby.
- $10 gets you in-and-out parking priviledges all day.
- Nice restaurant with good service.

Minuses:
- It's close to PATH station. But, on a cold windy day it could still be an uncomfortable walk.
- There was only one TV in the suite. It was on a table between the room and lounge area blocking part of the way.
- We reached early at 2pm, but all the riverview rooms were already taken ! and they could not give us a room till 3:15.
- Service was barely there. They were reluctant to help with the free 2 mile local shuttle.

Tips:

- This is in jersey city, so not a good neighborhood. Be careful.
- Try the "Ole" mexican restaurant close by. Awesome !
- Even though the Hyatt is not a suite hotel, we would be tempted to try it. That place has a much better location for views across the river and is right at the PATH station.

As a last minute traveller, I was looking for a room in New York for my weekend stay. After hours of desperate online searching, everything was booked in Manhattan. So I had to decide between a hotel in Queens and the Doubletree Club Jersey City. I certainly chose right! This hotel is five minutes away from the NewPort Pavania PATH subway station that links JC with Manhattan. In fact there is no need to spend a fortune on taxi rides as the trains are efficient. The surroundings are very safe (even if you spend a Sat. night out in Manhattan only to take the subway back to your room at 5a.m like we did...). I stayed in an executive suite and it was the best NYC room I had. Incredibly cheap and absolutely perfect in any sense (clean, modern, has a living room, a bedroom, 2 TV sets, super clean...). The staff is very friendly and eager to assist. As a skyscraper afficianado, I was impressed by the great skyline views my room had on lower Manhattan. For those that like to bum around, the waterfront in front of the hotel is a great place to relax. I will go back for sure!

Good hotel. We had a big corner suite with two televisons, a mini-kitchen. Very comfortable. The location is excellent because it is right down the street from the path train. The only down-side of this is having to wait 20-30 minutes on the weekend for a train. Good bargain compared to NYC hotels. You would pay $350 for the same hotel in New York. It was worth the subway wait.

Top Local Tips for Jersey City

Path Train Path Train to Manhattan is one block from hotel. Cost is $3.00 roundtrip per person. Easy to use. It's like a subway but felt safer because it covers a small area.

Save some money! Macy's and Bloomingdales give foreign visitors 11% discount. It doesn't apply to everything but you can still save quite a bit of money. You just need to show your passport at the visitors' centre and they give you a card, which lasts for a month (I think). You can use the Macy's one at any store in the US within that time (There's a Macy's in the Newport Centre in Jersey City).

PATH trains are a great way to get around You can purchase a single rider trip card with multiple trips and share it with the family. You can get discounts that way. We were a party of 4 which would have cost $12 in round trip train rates but with the single ticket it cost $10.00
