Does exactly what it says on the box!

Stayed here for a week's break in NYC, brilliant location!

Have spent ages trying to get a decent hotel in NYC that's value for money. I stayed at the Doubletree last year just off Lexington Ave. That was okay but quite expensive ($300), so i thought i look further afield.

The location is just the Holland Tunnel from Manhatten Island (turn right as soon as you exit the tunnel, turn right after the Supermarket and then follow the road round. You'll see the hotel at the other side of the dual carriageway, so you'll need to do a U turn at the lights)

We were driving after landed in JFK (how stupid of me, should have flown to Newark, that's just 10 minutes away!) There's valet parking for only $14 per night (I think)- great value!

Checked in on the 4th floor, I wasn't really expecting much so i was pleasantly surprised with the room. A very large and comfortable bed, a sofa bed and a desk with free broadband (i'm typing on that desk right now!) The carpet was a little dirty but i had that sorted out in the morning.

There's quite a lot of T.V channels as well as a interactive "pay per view" movie selection. A huge choice including some still showing in England!

There is a seperate sink area outside the bathroom, which has all your usual freebies. Included also is a coffee maker which is handy. There's a hair dryer and ironing facilities too.

Okay, the breakfast was expensive ($15 for the buffet) and the pool was very disappointing (& dirty!) For the price that i paid for the hotel, I'm not gonna complain!

Would definitely recommend this hotel to people coming to NYC, especially to people looking for the "$200 a night" mark

the past reviews pretty well sum things up about the court yard, rooms are big, and they were clean, very clean in fact, as was the whole hotel.....the walk to the path station takes about a minute, and depending on your luck the trip into nyc is shorter than 30 mins.
from jersey city to newark airport the going price by limo or cab is about $40 us
by taking the path<$1.75>, and making one change of trains , one can get to newark penn station and take a real train for under $8 to ewr. which runs on track 4 out of newark penn. station.
the shopping center across the street from the hotel is ok.... there are a few places to eat lunch or dinner close by... for breakfast the walk is about 5 blocks to the south for the restaurant if you don't want to eat at the hotel.....
the only possible problem with the hotel would seem to be some people had problems with their bill. In this day and age with checkout from the room the norm, on sunday morning 6 people were standing in line waiting to checkout... heard one of them asking about items on their bill.....
I have stayed at the courtyard before and they did not give me the proper discount that I should of had, but when I told them about it, it was corrected....
I have stayed numerous times in jersey city at either the doubletree, hyatt on the hudson or candlewood suites and a couple of times at the court yard.
I try to find the best deal in jersey city, my favorite hotel being the hyatt because of the view of manhatten, but I would stay at the court yard again, wouldn't even give it a second thought. It probably would win the title of the cleanest hotel in jersey city...... in my opinion..... at least when I stay there.... rj

This hotel is in a prime location!!! Across the street is a very nice (3 levels) mall!! The area of town is very safe and clean. Less conjestion compared to NYC. The hotel has a walking/jogging path which goes along the Hudson River and provides you with an OUTSTANDING view of the NYC skyline! One night we just sat on the bench and observed the skyscapers of NYC. This location also has the PATH train next door which allows you the opportunity to travel back and forth to NYC for $3.00 per person.

The hotel also has FREE internet service and a very nice pool and hot tub! The rooms are very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful!

I will stay at this location each time I go to NYC!!! Can't beat the price or the location!!!

Stayed 4 nights at this great hotel. My 2nd time in NYC, my 1st time at this location. I love the fact that Pavonia/Newport Station is located basically door to door next to the hotel, literally it takes about 50 steps to reach the hotel door from the station. This station is widely used and it is very rare you will be standing along waiting for the train. Still the hotel is very independent from the station, so you dont have to worry about privacy or anything like that. It takes about 30 minutes from leaving the hotel to NY City using the PATH. It feels very safe specially at late night. I was delicate of my stomach so I did not have breakfast at the restaurant but guests look very happy eating there. I took a look to the buffet and it looks very inviting. It has a very nice and pettite garden. The indoor pool was clean. The front desk people very nice. They have a big screen projection tv at the lounge, two pc's to check your email and surf the web (not very crowded by the way). My room was very clean and well-conserved. Nice decoration with a desk, tv set, sofa bed and a king size bed, clean carpet, cousy bed.

I am a profesional who simply don't like to pay too much for a hotel specially if I will use it only to sleep. I usually pay around $80-$150 a night at other hotels. At this location I paid $144.00/night and I think I saved a lot.

Hope this can help you to make a good decision. Negative comments... not really unless you expect a $350 up per night hotel quality.

This hotel was great - room was nice (but as normal could have better pillows) - free internet but only cabled - very helpful staff - great location right next to the PATH station to Manhattan. Pool was fun (though very chloriny and small of course). Great deal if you want to visit NYC and avoid Manhattan prices.

I don't understand why they call it Jersey City? Where is the city? And don't expect to get cabs around here. The closest thing you will get is these guys that work deals with the bellmen and valets at the nearby hotels. They all drive some form of sedan that is not a cab and definitely do not have meters. The good news is that this hotel is atop of the PATH train (Pavonia Newport station) that is a very quick ride to the WTC. I'm still not sure if I liked it or not. The staff was fair. And the rooms were big. Plan on taking the train to the (real) city to eat, because you are not going to find anything in walking distance.

We have stayed at this facility in the past 3 visits to the "Big Apple" (Dec 2004, July 2005, Dec 2005). Very clean, friendly & helpful staff, nice breakfast. Best of all, the "Path" transit system is a 3 minute walk, taking you right into the city (approx 10 minute ride) - for only $1.50. Great view of the city from the Jersey side!

Cheaper, convenient, decent alternative to NYC hotels. Good find!

Courtyard Jersey City - Newport Center at $179 for a large room by far beat the nearly $300 plus rates for similiar level NYC hotels in high season. The hotel is an older Courtyard and probably due for a spiffying up in a year or two but it was clean and suitable for basically a place to sleep. It was quiet. The PATH train to 33rd Street Penn Station and Greenwich Village is a one minute walk and a 10-20 minute trip to NYC. In Jersey City, Courtyard is a better choice if you are coming back late at night versus the further down the road Doubletree. My first room #605 had stains in the tub and carpet. I requested another room and the front clerk was happy to meet my request. My next room looked less worn and was just fine. There is self parking for $10 a day. Cheaper than NYC parking. There is a COSI sandwich coffee shop across the way. Not much around for food, but enough to get by. Coffee in the lobby. Spent the money I saved on my room on great restaurants in NYC!!!

This hotel is a very nice place to stay while visiting New York City. I stayed in a room with two double beds that was well furnished and very clean. Internet access is also available in the room at no charge. The NJ PATH train is literally right outside the door to the hotel and it’s a quick 5-minute ride to the WTC site. From there you can hop on the NY subway and go anywhere. You can also catch a train going north to 33rd street at the same PATH station. Take a good look at your statement when you checkout. I was charged for bottled water that I did not use but they re-worked the statement without question. All in all I had a pleasant experience at this hotel and would not hesitate to go back.

We were pleasantly suprised by this hotel, after encountering many below average ones on our road trip across the US. We wanted an affordable, comfortable hotel near the city and this one fit the bill perfectly. The hotel is not luxurious, but it was a good value and was practically on top of PATH train station which takes you into the city for $3 roundtrip. The hotel is also very near the water front, so we had a moonlight stroll along the water to see the NYC skyline. There were many others out doing the same, so it felt very safe. When we return to New York we'll definitely stay here again.

Top Local Tips for Jersey City

Easy access to NYC Courtyard, Jersey City is right next door to PATH subway to NYC. Buy a Metro card with cash or credit card ($10 will get you $12 on the card). The Metro can be used for PATH, NYC subways and buses. We took PATH to 33rd Ave. one day and toe World Trade Center another. On week-ends PATH goes to Hoboken on the way to 33rd Ave.; you need to change trains at the first or second stop to go to the WTC. Week-days it is a straight shot. From the WTC we walked around and ended catching a bus in Chinatown. With the bus you see sights. With the subway, you get there much faster.

Statue Of Liberty Don't think you are taking a shortcut by taking the New Jersey boat from Liberty Island.It drops you in the middle of nowhere and it is a nightmare journey back to the hotel

shopping Jersey gardens outlet is a 20 minute taxi ride away. Shop in the Macys in the newport mall, that way you will avoid all the crowds in the 34TH ST Macy's
