A Great Value!

from A TripAdvisor Member
My wife, daughter, sister, and I stayed in this Inn for one night. We were lost and decided to call the Inn. We were given perfect directions and a warm reception upon our arrival. Our rate was superb for no reservation and four in a room. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, access to downtown, and the overall area of Portsmouth. The shops and diners are wonderful. The staff is very cordial and willing to assist with any of your needs. I have stayed at Ritz Carlton and Westin Hotels and the service at the Port Inn met, if not exceeded, similar stays at the previous noted hotels.

Pretty Inn in New Hampshire

We had a very pleasant quiet stay at Port Inn on our way to Maine in early June. The room was spotless and looked to be recently renovated. The staff was helpful in making suggestions about restaurants nearby.
We definitely would stay at the Port Inn again.

Loved the Port Inn

from A TripAdvisor Member
From making the reservations to checking out it was a pleasure. The people were helpful, the establishment was emmaculant. the heated pool was perfect for the begining of June. The room was perfect with the fridge, microwave, the bed was extremly comfortable. Over all we were very pleased with our stay.

Port Inn our haven

We had a wonderful stay in Portsmouth at the Port Inn. Me and my five sisters shared a double room. The rooms were plenty big for all of us and our luggage. The bathroom, which is the most important for women, was large and clean, clean, clean. We stayed two nights and wished it was more. We did not get a chance to use the pool this trip, but in the past we enjoyed it very much. Next year same time same place we will be there. Thanks so much!

All The Reviewers Are Right

Last Wednesday and Thursday my wife and I stayed at The Port Inn based on the great reviews we read in Tripadvisor. The reviews are absolutely correct. This is a great place to stay and a great bargain. By themselves, the rates are more than reasonable, but in addition to that, guests receive a gift bag containing wine, cheese, crackers, fruit and loads of shopping coupons. And their Continental Breakfast could be an entire meal in itself. The staff, along with being so friendly and helpful, actually seem happy to be doing their job. The motel is located on a busy highway next to a traffic circle so it is not in the city. It's still possible to walk to the center of town about a mile away. This is a fine place, I talked with (I hope I have the names right) Norma and Bill -- we would like to thank you and your staff for such a nice stay.

Port Inn is a great place!

We just stayed at the Port Inn in Portsmouth- what a great place!! The rooms are small, but have very good bedding, granite countertops in the bathroom, free high speed internet, fridges and microwaves. Much much nicer than we expected. Parking is free. Breakfast is included, but is only bagels/danishes and juice/coffee.

You would have to drive to the tourist area of Portsmouth and park in a garage. It's about a 5 minute drive and garage parking is 75 cents an hour. I would imagine that to stay within walking distance though would significantly raise your room rate. For the price, quality and the helpfulness at the front desk, this place can't be beat!

s Retreat was a REAL Treat

from CanadaTraveller44
We booked the "Shoppers Retreat" weekend and completely loved this little GEM of a motel. I knew from the other reviews to be prepared for a Motel - but it was like having our own little cottage. We arrived on Friday afternoon to a SPOTLESS room, complete with a mini fridge and microwave. Our gift basket had fruit, cheese, crackers wine and all sort of chocolate goodies - far more than we expected.

The room was kept clean all weekend, the staff were fantastic about recommending great places to eat. We headed to Kittery Maine (10 minute drive at the most) and did some awesome outlet shopping.

I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere but the Port Inn when in NH - I am planning to return with some girlfriends for a weekend.

Thanks Port Inn - a lovely stay.

Best value in Portsmouth

I grew up in Rye, NH and often go back to visit family and friends - over the years I've stayed in almost all of the hotels in the area and I can say for certain that the Port Inn is the best value.

My wife and stayed there for 1 night the last weekend in February and were a little skeptical given its location but we've come to trust Tripadvisor reviews so we gave it a shot. Overall, it's a great place to stay if you want a comfortable clean room in a location that's not pretty but only a short drive from just about everything.

You may get a better view from the Sheraton but the rooms at The Port Inn are actually nicer and cleaner in my opinion. And when you add the price on top of that, it really can't be beat.

We'll certainly be staying at The Port Inn on future visits.

The Port Inn is easily the best place in its class I've ever stayed. The room was incredibly well furnished and the bed was extremely comfortable. Everything looked to be brand new and of the highest quality. It was also very quiet. I don't normally sleep well when on the road but the Port Inn was a delightful exception to that rule. Even the high-speed Internet connection was a breeze. There is simply no better place to stay in the Portsmouth area.

ve Ever Stayed In

from edknees
I was very skeptical that a motel could be listed as the most popular place to stay in Portsmouth but I decided to try it. After staying there I'd find it hard to believe that it was among the nicest lodgings in Portsmouth but it may very well be the nicest for the amount of money you pay. Check-in was easy and the clerk was very nice and helpful. The room was a bit cramped but was immaculate as was the bathroom. It had a microwave and refrig which I didn't need. The bed was very comfortable. The shower had a good amount of pressure which is important to me. The towels were so-so, but a step above Motel 6. Television got a lot of channels. The FREE HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS was a great perk. I didn't partake in the free continental breakfast because I wanted to eat at the Friendly Toast downtown. The downside is that it sits close to a major highway and so it was a little bit too noisy for my taste. Twice during the night sirens woke me up.
It's outside ambience is what you would expect from a motel. If you want peace and quiet and be able to walk to restaurants and shopping then this is not your place and I would spend the extra $$ and go elsewhere. I would highly recommend the Port Inn if you're traveling with kids or passing through town and don't mind using your car to drive to dinner or elsewhere.
