My husband, my two children and I stayed at the hotel and had a wonderful time. We highly recommend it. The facilities were very clean. The amenities were nice. We really enjoyed the pool. The hotel is situated nicely next to the retail outlets and a short traveling distance to all of the area attractions. We'll definitely be coming back again. Thanks North Conway Grand Hotel !!!

Less than adequate...

from A TripAdvisor Member
My family and I recently stayed at the North Conway Grand Hotel. The room was dark, even with a cathedral ceiling and the bathroom was old and moldy (in fact the entire room was musty and old). The first room we were assigned had such a moldy bath that we changed rooms in hope for something cleaner.

The walls were paper-thin and my family and I did not sleep much due to the noise level from adjoining rooms. This coupled with the lack of cleanliness and the rudeness of the hotel staff made our vacation less than wonderful (though the attractions in the area for children were great).

I wound not stay again – last year we stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites down the road, which was clean and friendly (but booked this year).

Great Hotel in North Conway NH

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed for three nights and had a great time. The room was clean and more than big enough for two adults and two young kids.

The hotel is in a good location in North Conway. Literally, steps from an outlet shopping mall.
The hotel also plans a lot of activities throughout the afternoon and early evening both for the family and kids.

We also took advantage of the incredible breaksfast buffet. Tons of great food and a great variety for a very reasonable price. (And the kids can eat breakfast for free..!) We also ate one dinner at the hotel as well and was very pleased with the choices. The waitresses were all very helpful as well.

We also took advantage of a nice exercise room. Well equipped and apparently not heavily used (which was fine for me).

All in all this place is a great place to stay for families. We'll be back.

Great hotel, but pool too small for number of rooms

from MassMom94
We came here for one night over Memorial Day weekend and got a great rate - only $99. I've paid a lot more to stay elsewhere in North Conway (both a hotel and a condo) and this hotel was way better. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet (kids ate free the weekend I was there - not sure if this is standard or not) was reasonable ($9.99) and quite good. The location of the hotel, south of the traffic nightmare that is North Conway, is also a big plus. You can get to Story Land without driving through town, too.

The only negative was that we couldn't use the pool because it was so overcrowded. There weren't even any towels left, and there were lots of used towels just thrown around the perimeter of the pool. There was no staff to be seen at the pool and they definitely needed some to keep up. The pool was out of service the next morning - perhaps they had to "shock" it to get it back to normal after the heavy use the day before.

But even without the pool, I'd definitely stay here again. Even the kids weren't that disappointed - the rest of the hotel was a big hit.

Pool was too cold but otherwise lovely

My husband and I stayed here for one night before a fun-filled trip to Storyland with our 2 preschool boys. The staff was extremely friendly and the room was fresh and clean (I'm a huge germophobe!). The only problem was that we were really looking forward to swimming in the pool, but since it had just been filled that morning, the water was only 58 freezing degrees. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel and would go back again!

Wow what a great hotel at first we were booked bext door at a different glad we cancelled and reserved was an excellent clean room very spacious bathroom and nice!! i guess it was nice!! the staff was wonderful but the breakfast line was too long everytime we tried..the best part was just a step outside and your at over 100 tax tree shops!! it was lovely you can buy anything there and its still a deal!! the DVD library was fantastic also..the only thing though we were soo busy each day once we got back to the room we passed out like a light!! i recommend a trip to mt washington! superb trip superb hotel

I agree

I agree...We have stayed here many times and each time I comment about the pool and how strong the clorine is. Yes I want a clean pool but there has to be a happy medium. Other than that everything is great.
Good service and nice rooms.

great family vacation

from cammie810
We just returned from a two night stay and had a great time. We were a group of mothers and their children. The kids loved the pool and spent alot of time there. It was heated to about 100 degrees so even the adults swam. There were always plenty of towels available. It got crowded at times but not too bad considering it was winter break for just about every school in NH and the hotel was almost full. The rooms were lovely, very clean and had a small fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. The breakfast buffet had something for everyone and kids ate free. The hotel has a large dvd library that you can borrow from for free. Plus the outlets are just outside. Definately a great place for families. On the flip side if you are looking for a quiet place to enjoy adult time this is not the place for you!!! While there we enjoyed a sleigh ride at Nestlenook farm and went tubing at King Pine ski area. Both are about a 15 minute drive.

A must for a holiday

on our 3rd visit to North Conway. We decided to stay at the North Grand for a change. It was superb. Rooms were so spacious and clean. We were allocated a room rear the elevator.

I explained as we were staying for two weeks.Could we have a room well away from elevators.

No problem I was told. Our stay went without a hitch. We found the staff nice and jolly.Very genuine and eager to please.

Story Land Bonus Dont forget one of the best things about Story Land is it is family friendly... you can bring in food and drinks and picnic on site although you may not want to their prices are so good! Go from 3-6pm one day and get in the next day for free, its great to divide up the park time with the kids, they get more out of it and look forward to it again the next morning. Have fun!
