This was the first time we had stayed at the Silver Legacy (we usually stay at the El Dorado) but because we got such a great deal for the room we decieded to try it. We were totally impressed.

We stayed in the large spa suite (I believe that they call it the deluxe suite). IT WAS HUGE!!! It had a large spa tub in the middle of the room right under a window w/ great views of the mountians. There was also a couch, desk, eating area besides the king sized bed. Our room was equiped with a plama tv as well as internet access.

Our room was very clean, as well as the entire hotel and casino. For the most part all of the staff was very nice and helpful (we only ran into one person who was very cool but did her job).

The only thing that I wish the Silver Legacy would change is to put safes in the rooms. We like to lock up our valuables in our room and we were unable to do so because there wasn't a safe.

I booked a room for the Reno air races, specifying non smoking. Upon check-in was told they could not provide a non smoking room because I had made the reservation on the internet and not directly through the silver legacy.
Since I have cancer I was not a happy guest, and I will NEVER stay there again.

I stayed at Silver Legacy in Reno and found out by surprise at check-out that there is a $3 per night per room "energy surcharge". This is something I have never heard of. It sets a dangerous precedent. I wonder when the hotel will give a surcharge for watching cable TV or use of water.Silver Legacy did not disclose this energey surcharge when the booking was made. I only found out about it when I was checking out. Although it is not a lot of money, this practice should not be allowed.

I stayed at the Silver in August of 2003. I found the rooms to be pretty average. Not that its a big deal, but I thought the rooms were kind of tacky. The bedspreads and the curtains were completely mismatched. We went to the bar to play VP and wanted to order a water and a drink and the bartender told us that we could not get two free drinks, just one. I have never had that happen anywhere before. Thought it was kind of rude. The coctail waitress in the $1.00 slots we were playing totally ignored us. As for the oversize parking lot, SCARY!! We dont advise parking there. It is far away form the casino area and not secure at all!! The barbed wire surrounding the lot, its partially there. We ended up parking near teh hotel in the Eldorado's oversize lot. I think there are much nicer places in reno to stay. I might stay there again on a free room over that i get from them, and give them another shot.

Silver Legacy is the BEST!!

I just returned from Reno, and stayed at the Silver Legacy for the 2nd time. It was a great trip, and I highly recommend both the hotel and the casino. I also played at Fitzgerald's, and did well there, too. If you're looking for an upscale restaurant for a romantic meal, you can't do better than Sterling's at Silver Legacy.

A beautiful place to be. The food at the buffet was great. Has one of the nicest layouts for the casino floor. The air in the casino was clean, which is a nice change from the casinos with smoke filled air......

I love staying at Silver Legacy, and recommend it to everyone. The rooms are very comfortable and the views can be wonderful. I especially like the gym and spa. I would have rated it five circles if it were not for one stay. The "nonsmoking" room seemed to have smoke pouring through the vents, and the Front Desk agent seemed annoyed that I wanted to move the next day. All my other stays were perfect and enjoyable.

Good bet for your stay in Reno

We made a last minute reservation at the Silver Legacy as we were driving down 395. We got an excellent AAA rate on their standard room, and then decided to upgrade to the same room with a better view. Glad we did, as the view of downtown Reno and the mountains was very nice.
We would have upgraded to a suite, but they were sold-out for the night.Since we arrived later in the evening (about 9pm on a weekday), check-in was a breeze. The room itself is fine, not deluxe, but comfortable. The hotel's layout, which requires an elevator ride down from the self-park and another elevator ride up to the room, was no problem. We did figure out that the restaurant exhaust tends to send smoke into the parking structure from the 4th or 5th floor upward.
Unless you like your car to smell like cooked meat, park away from Virgina St.We found the service in the hotel to be pleasant and quick.
Extra pillows were delivered quickly and cheerfully. Check-in and check-out were both quick. We had dinner at the buffet and were really impressed with its salad bar (the rest of the buffet was adequate, but certainly not up to the level, of Bellagio in Las Vegas).The location of the Silver Legacy, midway between Circus Circus and The El Dorado, is very nice. All three hotels are connected by enclosed aerial walkways (in general you won't even realize you're crossing streets), allowing you to move easil from one to another without ever stepping foot outside. We enjoyed the games at Circus Circus (especially Fascination), as well as the coffee shop at the El Dorado.This isn't Las Vegas luxury by any stretch of the imagination, but venturing between all three hotels did give us a sense of Vegas. We'd certainly stay here again when passing through Reno.

Pleasant stay of 5 days

Found this hotel to be a pleasant place to stay. Arrived at the end of a motorcycle convention and the lobby was a madhouse, but the staff was handling it very well. Free champange served in the lobby was a nice touch. Our room and the service for it was satisfactory. Security seemed to be satisfactory for access to the room elevators. Plenty of places to eat in all three hotels (that are connected), with decent food and prices at all levels. Hospitality room provided for our group was well serviced, and the bartenders were professional. A bit of a trip down from the room and through the lobby and up in another elevator to the parking garage, but if you're on a low floor and park on a low level it ain't too bad. Check-out was smooth and quick.

My wife and I recently visited Reno and stayed at the Silver Legacy for two nights. We had a king non-smoking room that was very well appointed and clean. The bedspread and drapes looked new, as did the carpeting and towels. The vanity area is around the corner and separate from the bedroom, yet not inside the bathroom, so that was nice. The lobby was beautiful, there was no line to check in, the staff was courteous and attentive, the self parking was a breeze, and even thought we didn't gamble, the casino was well lit and inviting. We ate at the Sweetwater Cafe and ordered an omlet which was big enough to share. We also had breakfast and dinner at the Victorian Buffet which offered plenty of variety and was also very good so far as a buffet goes, however the food was not very warm. The hotel is connected to Circus, Circus and The ElDorado which some might find convenient. We got a GREAT rate on the internet! We've stayed at other hotels in the area and this one is the best. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Silver Legacy.

My husband and I were quite pleased with the hotel, staff, and restaurants. We normally go to Vegas and stay at the Treasure Island to give you an idea of what we like. The Silver Legacy is decorated very nicely with a Victorian theme. The restaurants have good food and reasonable prices, although breakfast service at the Cafe can be extremely slow. We loved having more blackjack and pai gow tables than at the T.I. I especially liked having $5 min. at some tables 24/7...again, unlike the T.I. where limits go up by late afternoon regardless of the day. The overall design of having the restaurants on a different level than the casino helped to contain the noise. We also noticed that the slot machines were considerably quieter. Yeah! The pool on the 4th floor of the hotel is more inviting to me than having to walk past the casino and restaurants as in the T.I. There's also plenty of hot water in the rooms and good water pressure in the showers. The only thing I would change/add is a coffee maker so I can have a cup after a particularly long night of fun. All in all, I would definitely recommend the Silver Legacy and would be happy to return here in the future. It's not Vegas, but it's a nice alternative.

Top Local Tips for Reno

Take hotel shuttle hotel shuttles are available for all hotels. They are free but tip the driver!

Buffet Don't go to the Victorian Buffet at the hotel....It is overpriced and the food isn't that good. There are many other places to choose from...

Rent a Car My best advice to anyone going to the Reno/Lake Tahoe area would be to rent a car. There were many great attractions outside of downtown Reno. Virginia City is just over 30 miles from Reno and is definately worth seeing. It is a small, rustic mountain town with boarded sidewalks, old-timey casinos/hotels (each with tales of the wild west), and shops. You must absolutely take the drive around Lake Tahoe. It is breath taking!! Touring Lake Tahoe is an excellent day trip. You can also stop at the California state line for photos, etc. RENT A CAR.
