This hotel is a bit off the beaten track but in a delightful location. We have made it our hotel of choice when staying in Reno. The river-view rooms provide a delightful view of the Truckee River as it flows through downtown. The rooms are spacious and beautiful with great amenities which include armoires and comfy chairs to relax in. The beds are covered in eiderdowns which give them a feel of luxury. The bathrooms are well-appointed and again - rather luxurious. For the price you pay at a "casino" hotel, you get the feeling of being in the guest room of a family home instead of a hotel room. The casino is small but well rounded and their "Rivercard" has great benefits. We like to stay there with the children because the focus isn't on the casino but the river location. You can walk all along the river front - down to the main park where there is always some event going on for entertainment. Their rooftop pool is great - if small and their spa is top-rated!!

Rooms range from spacious to 'cozy'. Amenities are standard. Great soaps and lotions. Good downtown location.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Siena Hotel Spa & Casino. The hotel is beautifully furnished, modern, and clean. We especially loved the beds, which were extremely comfortable, with down comforters and down pillows. Well worth the price.

I just returned from a trip to Reno and a very disapointing stay at the Siena. We stayed in a large suite on the 9th floor. When we arrived we found only enough towels for 1 person, it took 3 phone calls and very rude service to get enough towels for the 3 of us. There was also a lack of coffee cups and drink glasses. We were also surprised to find there is not an ice machine on the 9th floor (an all suite floor). The cocktail service in the casino was very poor. We ordered a pizza at 1:15 am, 45 minutes later when still no pizza we called to find out the status; we were told that yes they had our order but they could not make our pizza because the oven was being cleaned. There were many other frustrating issues that arose during our stay. Upon our check-out we requested to speak with the GM, we were told he was in a meeting and would call our cell phone at 11:30 after his meeting, he did not call.
As we waited for the town car and driver to take us to the airport, someone sent down the food and beverage manager who advised us that he deals with these issues every day. Not one person offered to do anything to restore our faith in this hotel. The shining stars at this hotel are the staff at the front desk and bell desk. Sadly our much anticipated stay in a beautiful suite was turned ugly by the complete lack of attention to details and a complete lack of customer service by management.

Not worth the money, time or trouble

Four of us have just returned from a long weekend away at the Siena Hotel Spa & Casino very very disappointed with our experience. We booked the hotel rooms, two deluxe kings, months in advance and as we were driving long distance a late arrival guarantee was requested. There were other good and less expensive hotels available in town but we had chosen this hotel based on reviews that we had read. Should have known something was amiss when the confirmation letters received were on plain white paper, no letter heading, words misspelled and errors crossed out in ink.Check in was both fast and efficient. The rooms were located on the 3rd floor and in exiting the elevator we were surprised at how dirty and stained the carpeting was in the hallway and how much trash was lying around. We found that both rooms were housed above the hotel ventilating systems and very noisy. The air conditioning unit in the room was also very noisy. Unfortunately the windows were sealed shut so we could not open a window to allow for any other form of ventilation. The duvet cover on the bed had a large hole in it. We called house keeping and was met with well what do you want me to do with it? Its too late to repair it. Please change it for us we asked and she hung up on us. They did however replace it within the hour. No soap and not enough towels in the room for two people. The Bell Hop did not answer the phone so we had to go back downstairs to tell him where to bring our luggage. We went to the front desk to ask for a change in room location to be told that they could put one couple in a smaller cheaper smoking room, otherwise they were sold out. The front desk person said they would inform the manager of our dissatisfaction and see what could be worked out. We went to the café for a snack but when ordering coffee and pastries from the Midnight to Four limited menu our waiter told us you wouldnt want them as they have been lying out all day and wouldnt be any good. After hearing nothing from the manger we again visited the front desk on Saturday morning. Met with a young woman who was rude, no the Manger could not be spoken with and she told us to come back around 3pm when they could then look into what might be available. The $5 off coupons for breakfast is a nice touch. We visited the café, waited 45 minutes for our food to be brought to us with the waiter telling us we would have been better coming later when it was quieter. The one redeeming staff member, Mark the concierge. Very polite and helpful in getting us reservations at La Strada.No-one at the front desk or their management ever addressed our need to discuss the quality/standard of the rooms. The level of experience of the café staff appears to be that of trainees with no supervision whatsoever. There is no apparent attempt by any of the staff to provide a level of service that would initiate a return visit by the guest. Overall we left feeling that no one really cared. Dont let the price deceive you. You do not get what you pay for at this establishment.

Fantastic Hotel - Try It!!!!!

What a wonderful place to stay! Everyone from the bellhops, reception, and all staff of the casino were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The rooms were neat and clean. The atmosphere is not like other casino hotels and there is quite a few things to do if you're not a gambler. The restuarants are great. A good value. You can enjoy a night of Jazz in there wine celler, an island vacation by the pool and the spa-WOW. I was treated like a queen! I highly recommend the Siena. It is within 5 blocks of the major downtown area - and I felt more at ease with the number of security personnel they had at night. 2 thumbs up. I will be returning!

Our one week vacation stay at this superb hotel is nothing lessthen perfect. The hotel staff were the best I've ever encountered in mymany travels, and being retired from the military thats says alot initself. Our room was very spacious, extremely comfortable, and the bed wasthe best we've ever slept in with the down comforter and large size. We hada wonderful view of downtown Reno, and the housekeepers on their toes dayand night. We were even called by housekeeping asking when they would liketo do the room. Never a frown on any employee, always greeted with a smileand "Can I help you attitude all around" and would go out oftheir way to make sure you were treated like royality. I can't say enoughin that this was, and is the best hotel in the city of Reno "HandsDown". Beautiful surroundings, elegant and tasteful dining, bar, spa,and wine cellar. Wish to mention the food was great in the Cafe, and foodwas delivered with exceptional speed not to mention the free coupons forbreakfast and the coupon book given to us by the player card counter. Randy(Manager of Player Card) and Hank were outstanding in resolving a smalltechnicality with the coupon book, and in fact to make up for thedifference, he treated us to a free dinner with his company, which was veryenjoyable. Everything within walking distance, and I mean everythingwithout the hussle and bussle of any crowds. What a perfect location. Iwould not hestitate for a second to stay at this deligtful hotel again inthe future, and actually plan to go back for the Reno Races. The casino waselegant, not crowded, and a great selection of many machines, tables andgames. I would call this hotel a "LITTLE VEGAS in RENO" andnothing short of the very best. If you plan a stay in Reno, don't make themistake in staying any where else but the Siena Hotel and Spa for a visitor vacation to Reno. This is the best kept secret in Reno !! I'd like toalso mention, very prompt pickup to and from airport !!

Comfort

I stayed at the Siena for the 1st time March 1-3, 2003. I loved it. When I checked in the front desk staff was very friendly & helpful. I didn't feel like I was just another guest. I love the fact that they give $5.00 breakfast coupons. This really helps when you have been gambling all night & need a quick meal (and have no money). The room was beautiful. It didn't feel like just another hotel room. I felt like I was at home. The bed was so soft & comfortable I did not want to get out to do any gambling. The room was very spacious. You didn't have to climb on the bed to let someone pass. I loved the fact that it had a coffee maker in the room. I like to be able to have coffee in bed without having to go out & get it. The price was very reasonable. My boyfriend & I have stayed at many hotels in Reno. This is one we will be staying at again.

I am planning to vist again, but for longer than one night the next time.

t get the Rooms correctly!

I just stayed at the Siena just a couple of days ago (Feb 16th - 18th). I have made my reservations approx. 3 week prior to arriving on the 16th of Feb. I also called the morning of my arrival to confirm my reservation requests ie.. I reserved and guaranteed, two rooms; 1 double queen adjoining to 1 king room, non-smoking. As I have stated, I called the hotel on the morning of my arrival to confirm that my requests were fulfilled, the reservations personnel at the hotel said it will not be a problem and will make sure my requests are filled. I arrived at the hotel at 8:30pm to check in. I was told the only rooms that were available were two rooms with 1 king in each, the first room was a non-smoking (on the 4th floor) and the other was on the smoking floor. I tried to straighten this out and was told this was all they had... reluctantly, I took the rooms (since I was already tired from working that morning and driving). The front desk personnel admitted the mistake they had made and promised to correct my reservation requests for the remaining two nights. The next day, after a full days skiing, I had returned to the Hotel to see whether or not my reservations has been corrected. I was given two rooms on the non smoking floor but the rooms were not adjoining... Well, I was told these rooms were adjoining.... but actually they were not. I had to go to the front desk again to try to correct this problem, I was given another room that was adjoining to one of the rooms they have given me... I thought after all this, I have finally got what I originally wanted..( 2 rooms, one with 2 queens, the other room with 1 king, adjoining, non smoking) The 2 queen bed room was a very nice room for the price, but the adjoining 1 king room was not as advertised... here's a list of major problems; 1. was suppose to be a non smoking room, the previous occupants had smoked in it (The manager knew about this, but allowed the room to be rented regardlessly!) 2. The bath tub finish was cracked and chipping so badly that a rubber mat was already inside the tub to help cover the damage. I have spoke to the Hotel manager about my stay and to sum up her reply, she said that even though I had guaranteed the rooms, it only meant that I was guaranteed a room regardless of it being a smoking or non smoking room one or two beds. Basically, I was fortunate to get a room! She only gave me 50% off the first night stay. My final thoughts about this property. The prices I paid were some of the lowest! But in perspective you get what you paid for. I would not recommend this place to any of my friends. I did not expect the poor customer service provided by the front desk and especially the manager! JUST A WARNING! IF YOU ARE A NONSMOKER, DO NOT STAY HERE! IF YOU CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE, DO NOT STAY HERE...

Serenity at the Sienna!

My wife and I had the pleasure of spending Valentines weekend, 2003, at the Sienna Hotel in Reno. From the courtesy van pickup at the airport to the friendly goodbye upon checking out, our visit was continually punctuated with professionalism shown by every member of the Sienna staff. The rooms are wonderful, clean and well appointed. The beds are the most comfortable of any hotel I've ever visited. The down comforters were an especially nice touch. Any and all requests for service were addressed and handled promptly. This is a beautiful new hotel located a couple of blocks from downtown, directly across the street from Harrah's Auto Museum. My wife and I offer our highest recommendation to anyone looking to visit Reno.

Our Stay at the Siena Hotel Spa and Casino was just wonderful. We were treated very well. The spa people deserve a real pat on the back for the great treatment we received. It is something that you can not miss when you stay there. Our room was great and the people who work in the Casino were always there for your every need. The restuarants were great. Thank you for such a lovely break from the everyday routine. We will highly recommend staying there. Thank you again and hope to be back soon.

Top Local Tips for Reno

go south of town All the older casinos are downtown which is getting facelift; Go south of town (Hwy 395 towards Carson City or Virginia St); better restaurants, shopping south of town and are closer to the roads that take you to Carson City, Tahoe, and Virginia City. New shopping center (Dillard's, Vic Secret, Orvis, Black & White, shoe stores, many more!) at the Mt. Rose exit (this road goes to Tahoe). Reno is very cold, gray, dreary with trees like skeletons in the winter. Summer: Truckee River can be fun, but a bit dangerous (I'm a nurse who has taken care of many accidents); about 45-60 min from Tahoe.

Lexi's If you are looking for one of the best contemporary meals in Reno, i highly recommend the fine dining restaurant Lexi's in the Siena. The setting on the river is fabulous. The winelist is very good. The food is well presented and they have a terrific menu. The staff is great. The casual dining restaurant is also high quality and well priced.

The Truckee Riverwalk Walk around the newly developed Truckee Riverwalk. Nice & clean places to dine or have a drink day or night in a safe environment.
