Don't always beleive what you see. The economy is down and so is tourism. You would think that a big name hotel/casino would treat you like a GUEST. The staff was not very professional. The rooms were over priced and there was no dealer available to play all table games. The rooms were clean and nice but for the price and off the strip. OVER RATED CASINO. Buyer Beware.

Don't get sent across the parking lot

My husband and I stayed at the Atlantis this past weekend while attending a convention. I had booked a tower room. When we checked in the clerk tried to send us across the parking lot to the Motor Lodge. I told her I booked a tower room, but was told that all of the tower rooms were gone and the Motor Lodge was all that was left. We ended up speaking to the manager who told us that he would move us to the tower then next day and would comp the night in the Motor Lodge. The Motor Lodge is worse than any Motel 6 I have ever seen. The rooms are small and seedy and you can't turn around in the bathroom. The manager kept his word and moved us to the tower the next day. The rooms there are very nice. The best part is that upon checking out, we found that our entire stay had been comped. If you stay at the Atlantis don't let them send you across the parking lot.

The Atlantis should be renamed Hell. It was disgusting, trashy, and even smelled funky. The location is inconvenient if you are not driving, which I would recommend because there is almost NO parking available. It is nowhere near anything of interest. The pictures on the website are extremely deceiving. The outside is unrecognizable from the photos. Some of the things on the website don't even exist, or at least didn't when I was there (June 2002) It was humid and smokey, much worse than any other casino I've ever been in. It was also more expensive - and I can't even imagine why - it was shabby and filthy. The wait and lines for the "restaurant" were horrible. The food was just so-so. The only slightly positive thing I can say is that the service was forgettable. I would not recommend this place to anyone who isn't hiding out from the feds.

Tower room

We stayed one nite in a "Tower" room at the Atlantis in Reno this Feb. 2004. Our large room with 2 queen beds, was ok. just lacking in decor. Walls were bare, no paintings, a large window offered a nice view of the city & nearby snowcovered mountains. For the price we expected a little coffee/tea maker in the room & there was none. There was no way to turn down the heat & room was too warm.

Great Hotel, We loved it

I took my wife to the atlantis for her 25th birthday. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by helpful employees and I was actually amazed at the quick service. The checkin process was the easiet I've ever experienced and every employee we came across were extremely polite and helpful. The dining is fantastic and the casino is first rate. The only downfall of the trip was the slow service at the Purple Parrot resteraunt. Other than that, this palce is flawless. I highly recommend this hotel!

A Nice Place to stay ....

Stayed here for the SCI convention with my husband and another couple. We really enjoyed ourselves. Spend the extra money on the Concierge rooms. We loved the lounge. We loved the Spa ... try the hot stone massage! We had a great time in the Casino. It's right across the street from the Convention Centre, so my husband could just walk over. Rooms are good, Maid were excellent. Loved the Food, we tried many restaurnts in the Casino and they were all great. Live music was just okay. I would stay here again although like someone else said the Valet is kinda a gong show. It's close to the airport and there a nice Mall a short cab ride away.

Great Stay

I spent 4 nights at the Atlantis. My flight was delayed and I arrived several hours late. I called from Dallas and the agent that answered was courteous and very helpful. She asked me if I wanted a view of the mountains or the city lights and when I arrived I was treated very nice. The room was really pretty, I understand they are in the process of remodeling and I had a beautiful bathroom and bedroom. The bar staff was professional and friendly. The change people and just about everyone there was very friendly and helpful. If you asked where the valet or some other area was, they just about walked you there, they didn't just point. It was a wonderful trip. I have been in Reno and Tahoe twice before, and to Las Vegas many more, but the Atlantis was exceptional. Thanks Trip Advisor for being there!!! Esther

The front desk staff need a refresher course in customer service.
Instead of telling me that my "requested" non-smoking room was unavailable despite what my itinerary said, the woman proceeded to ARGUE with me. The manager was sympathetic but equally unhelpful. Only one person at the desk was polite and tried to be accommodating. God bless her.

Room was run-of-the-mill and not overly clean though the bedding and linens appeared to be. They smelled nice and bleachy and were devoid of even a hint of fabric softener. There were, however, nice bath/lotion products provided. The bed was comfortable (once I discovered an ultra-soft blanket tucked between the sandpaper sheets and eerily slick quilt.)

TV sucked. (Had bad sound and was prone to having channels just fuzz in and out.)

Food was over-priced and generally lousy. (Monte Vigna) Probably should have gone for the buffet.

It was generally quiet in the room areas, the glass elevator was kind of cool, and the phones worked. (Trying to end on a positive note.) Shuttle was on-time and driver was extra friendly. (Front desk take notes!)

Probably the best place to stay in Reno

from A TripAdvisor Member
I would recommend this Hotel above the rest in town. I have stayed at numerous hotel casinos in Reno and Las Vegas over the last 25 years and this one is good. Susan was our casino Hostess. Very professional and nice. Food is terrific, casino is very Las Vegas style, and overall probably the best place to stay in Reno. My only criticism would be that most of the dealers need lessons in friendliness/attitude.

It was very beautiful

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed for one night but everything was lovely. It was in january and the snow on the mountains behind it was absolutely beautiful.. There was an arcade for kids to play in while parents played in the casino.
It was very acommidating and convienent. I recomend it highly, especially during the winter. It is also next to the airport so that is a nice plus if you are looking for a hotel close by. You can actually see the hotel as you land and lift off.!

Atlantis Hotel

We stayed four nights at the Atlantis Hotel this past May. The concierge level rooms are well worth the extra few dollars, they were large and roomy, the food supplied by the concierge lounge was excellent. It was a nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the casinos. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Reno or Las Vegas If you don't like to gamble, then maybe you should go to Las Vegas instead because there is really not much else you can do in Reno. At least you can catch a show or go shopping in Las Vegas.

Great Breakfast Go to I-Hop for a great breakfast and you usually will find a special of the day for a resonable price.
