What a shame!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Flamingo was always my favorite casino and hotel to stay at, however, we haven't been there in about 2 yrs. I must say that I am very disappointed! Our room was dirty and very much in need of renovation.
Customer service was poor (with the exception of maybe one person) and casino staff were extremely rude! Be wary of hidden charges for "free viewing" of music videos and phone calls. It was a shame we had to go to other casinos to be treated decent and like our business was appreciated. What a shame that the Flamingo has spiraled down hill. I will not recommend this hotel to others like I have in the past!

Very relaxing time!

My boyfriend (fiance after the trip!), his sister & brother-in-law, and me stayed two nites at the Flamingo. We had a wonderful time! Loose slots, great food, friendly employees. Lots more relaxing than Las Vegas. Not as much to do and that suited us just fine. Got to experience UPW (wrestling) up close & personal - loved it!. We plan on getting married next spring in Vegas, and will most likely take a side trip back to Laughlin to re-coup.

Horrible! Won't ever return. The room was filthy--with obvious leaks in the ceiling...not to mention my mom fell from an easy chair that had rolling casters....this was on the 14th floor and next to the window! When I complained--they simply brought me two folding chairs.....chewing gum and candy? stuck to the carpet...still using Hilton insignia on ice buckets etc...this is not a hilton hotel--and should not be represented as such. Was going to stay two my money back and stayed at the Edgewater with wonderful results! (the stay was June 8th, 2003) No one cared how our stay was, and when I asked for my money back there was no concern either.....they didn't even ask why!

t stay here again

My husband and I come up to Laughlin about 3 times a year and usually stay at the River Palms but have tried a couple others. This was our first time staying at the Flamingo and I must say will most likely be our last. Our room was disgusting! There were stains all over the carpet and some stuff all over one wall that looked like it had come from someone's nose! We called down to the desk to see if someone could come up and clean this off (although this should definitely have been done when the room was "cleaned" as it was IMPOSSIBLE to miss). We were told that they would send someone right up. Well...right up became 40 minutes later in which two ladies from housekeeping came up, asked to look at it, conversed with each other in spanish then said that someone else would be up to clean it. We informed them that we would be leaving the room but to just have the person come on in. This all took place around 3p. We then left and didn't return to the room again until 2:00 AM and wouldn't you know it, but nothing had been done! All of these hotels make way too much money to have nasty looking rooms like these. Then to top it off, we had a couple of those "parents of the year" (you know, those ones that seem to think it's a good idea to bring their kids on vacation to a gambling town) located next to us and they and their kids seemed to think they were in their own house and literally yelling across the hall to one another. We've had the best luck room-wise at the River Palms and Ramada Express and will continue to frequent those in the future and bypass on the Flamingo.

Never Again !

After visiting laughlin on a yearly basis for about the past five years as a family and with friends we felt it would be fun to celebrate my son's 21st Birthday there. Except for one time we have always stayed at the Flamingo and have always been fairly satisfied ( although never at check -in) Planning three months in advance we booked 15 lanai rooms and requested that they be as close together as possible (yeah right) we ended up with 9 lanai rooms and 6 regular rooms spread throughout the floor. We had als organised to have a catered party on the deck for 50 people and to be fair it was perfect. Service-excellent Food-Great Setting- perfect, So kudos to catering. BUT from the moment we arrived and tried to communicate with a young lady that was definately in the wrong business, customer service was certainly not her priority. Anyway ,long story a little shorter, room check-in, total fiasco nobody seemed to know what was going on including supervisors. Front desk kept blaming group sales and the next day vice-versa. Rooms were really shabby - same stains from a year ago. New buffet sucked the night we ate there. Why spend all that money to remodel then serve crap it does not make sense. sufficed to say we were not impressed with the hotel although we had a great party and a great time. Lost a bunch in the casino too. My fault ,figured I had a slot machine figured out... Harrahs here we come !

Rooms Need Rennovation

What looked like blood on the walls, holes in the blanket, no soap or hairdryer, stained carpet with cigarette burns. Upgraded room - no clock, no coffeemaker. Murky pool water and restaurants full of screaming, unruly kids. Dinner buffet was excellent; breakfast buffet was absolutely awful! Try eating to the sounds of unruly and unsupervised infants screaming! We left after only one nite; that was more than enuf. Employees were helpful and friendly but didn't make up for the trailer trash guests we had to contend with. LV and Laughlin have brought this on themselves by touting to families - The Disneyland experience - bad business decision. They're driving away the high-rollers. I hope that famililes do lots of gambling. We'll do our gambling elseswhere. Do you think it would help if we had tatoos like many Flamingo guests have?

great time!!!!

Our last trip to the Flamingo was in April. We were comped three nites from the previous trip and 2 meal coupons. We throughly enjoyed our stay here. The room needed a little re-furbishing but we can't complain; after all it was free! I can say that the Flamingo has the best comps of any hotel in Laughlin. While we were there we earned 2 free buffets while playing slots. I'm sure we will be mailed more comp literature for our next visit. Very relaxing atmosphere and great weather.

the Flamingo

I can't say enough good about the Flamingo. We've had nothing but the best service there. The people who complain about this property must just be whiners. We've always had clean rooms, the employees have been friendly and helpful. Yes, they do need to do a little upgrading, but long as it's clean, who cares! The Flamingo treats us like royalty. We are comped for food, drinks, concerts, slot tournaments, rooms, etc. Valet and check in have always been quick along with housekeeping. The restaurants are pretty good, although we venture out and eat at the other properties. We've been staying at the Flamingo for several years and will continue to do so. We've stayed at several of the other properties, but no one treats us like the Flamingo. No one comps you like the Flamingo does. We stayed at the River Palms several times and did all of our gambling there, but got nothing so we moved on. After venturing over to the Flamingo one trip to do some gambling, we were staying at another property, we got a letter in the mail from the Flamingo comping us rooms. The Flamingo is centrally located on the strip so it's easy to walk just about anywhere with the exception of Harrah's. Thank you Flamingo.

Disappointed at the flamingo

from A TripAdvisor Member
We arrived on a Sunday at 2:30,very tired, then had to wait for an hour and a half in a long line just to check in which is suppose to be at 3:00. By then it was 4:00. We were told the room still wasn't ready. I had made reservations weeks in advance too!! We were told the room wouldn't be ready for another 2 hours, yet checkout time is 11:00 AM.!? This meant that we couldn't check into the room til 6:00PM. We had gone to Laughlin to get married, we had to on Sunday because the marriage bureau is closed on Mon. and we had to leave and pack on Tues. Our ceremony was set up for 6:15 PM on Sunday. I thought that by getting to the Flamingo by 2:30, we'd be checked in and all settled in our room by 3:00 and we'd have time to shower dress and do make up and hair. Needles to say this really put a damper on things. Another bad thing about the Flamingo is the lack of parking!! We drove around and around in the parking garage and all the spots were taken, except of course the paid valet parking which not many chose to pay. I noticed that the other casinos had plenty of free parking and if it was valet parking, they put that parking area faurther away and kept the free parking for it's guests, like it should be.I also don't like the fact that check in is so late and check out is so early. The only good thing about the Flamingo is the good meal deals, they can't be beat! Another bad thing is the slots machines, none of us won anything. They just don't seem to pay out. Also, we paid extra for a River view room, and couldn't enjoy the view since it was so late. Our other guests room was cheaper and actually had a better view. It also was noisier in our room than our guests rooms. We could hear tiolets flushing, showers running, others T.V's on, noise in the hallways. I will never stay ther again.

Disappointing customer service

from debo720
A hotel is pretty much a hotel, and handing out keys and rattling off a room number isn't that difficult. The time that a hotel's customer service shines is when problems come up, and they have to be addressed. Stacy, one of the evening clerks is incapable of saying nothing more than there's nothing I can do. Her manager, Julie, went a bit further saying, I could do something, but I'm not going to. We mistakenly had two reservations and they wanted to charge us for both of them, even though they didn't have to turn away business, and they could have rented the room for more money. Fortunately, I was able to wait by the desk, and sure enough, before too long another hapless victim wasn't able to get her comp. room, and "there was nothing" they could do for her, except sell her a room for $84. I told her I had one for $45, and at that place, the guests are better off sticking together and helping out each other, because the evening staff just isn't capable of doing it. Connie is a great help. She got us a new room in the morning, because the one that Stacy was capable of handing out a key for smelled like a wet dog.

Top Local Tips for Laughlin

Check out the Laughlin River Run in April. If you love to people watch, ride Harleys, wished you owned one? Then the Laughlin River Run is for you. Booths, entertainment, great conversation, hard bodies, lots of tatoos, awesome bikes, enough laughable issues, great clothing lines, and an overall great time gives this event my 5 star rating.

Laughlin Golf Ranch Be sure to play The Laughlin Golf Ranch.

Generous comps I thought the casino provided generous comps for play.
