Venetian Tops!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just returned from the Venetian yesterday....had an extremely relaxing vacation... the room was wonderful, staff extremely courteous, and the restaurants top notch. Had a massage in the Canyon Ranch, and was one of the best I have ever had. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Do Not go to their spa

from adamak
Canyon Ranch Spa is by far THE most disappointing experience I ever have. The place is extremely crowded. The locker room is very packed, and not enough showers for the amount of appointments they booked. The whirlpool is too small and packed always (with 4 people in it). The waiting lounge area is not quiet nor relaxing. The whole place was filled with guests (and it was a thurs afternoon). I felt like a cow being rushed into service. Not to mention, my massage was horrible. I was pinched, scraped by the "exfoliating" brush. I had hundreds of scratches on my body afterwards. I have already written my complaint letter. This is just unacceptable. Esp for the price and tips they've already included.Canyon Ranch Spa in Vegas is the WORST spa experience I ever had. Do yourself a favor and head to Mandalay Bay Spa instead.

Great rooms, crazy place!

I have read various reviews of the Venetian and think that yourchoice of hotel depends on what you want to do in LV.We wanted a room wherewe could get away from the general craziness - made much worse by a 50,000 strong convention on when we visited! Our suite was on the 32rd floor facingthe strip for a total rate of £130 a night. Great space, wonderful bathroombut Vegas generally only delivers average service compared to the rest of the States. EVERYTHING is about money here so if you treat stafffinancially well then you will get great service - a shame but true. We wanted to gamble (a little), drink (a bit more), eat (quite a lot) andtotally chill in some warmth! So, the gambling is fun for a while but unlessyou are a high roller then all the gaming floors are pretty much thesame. If you want to enjoy nice bars then forget the majority of the casinosas they attract a more downmarket, gambling addict type of crowd. The nice places to drink are The Venetian, Bellagio (although very touristy), Caesars Palace and Mandalay Bay (although a younger crowd). If you want to eat well then the above still applies. We had a very good and very relaxingmeal in the Star Canyon @ The Venetian and a superb but very rushed meal atSpago @ Caesars Palace. If you eat here make sure you specify at the startthat you need a break between courses - I was in the loo when both theAmuse Bouche and Appetiser were delivered! We were recommended to go to the Bellagio Buffet - but we didn't bother when we saw the hour long queue toget in and the crush at the buffet itself. Instead we chose dinner at THETOP TIP FOR VEGAS - book a table outside at Mon Ami Gabi @ Paris Paris. Ourtable was directly opposite the Bellagio Fountains so we enjoyed excellent service, great food, a wonderful theatre every 15 mins, people watching andoutside air con (required when the day tempetaure was 115F!). Also, the Canyon Spa at The Venetian was voted best in the world by Conde Nast. At $30 a day it costs about the same as a day rate at a hotel in the UK but much better. Enjoy and relax!

Loved the Venetian!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Went to Las Vegas last August-2002 for my 50th birthday and stayed at the Venetian.check-in went smoothly and the young lady that checked us in was very polite and helpful-esp. whe she found out it was my birthday. We went out for a short while after arriving and upon returning, there was a very nice fruit tray and birthday card set up on the table from the staff. Of course this just made my day!! We had a very nice view of the pool and vcould see the pirate show at Treasure Island. The room itself was gorgeous and immaculate-huge to say the least, and I just loved the step-down into the sitting area.Room service was swift and efficient and our room was kept niceley stocked with supplies. Mind you, this was a once in a life time trip to the Venetian for my birthday, but I would not hesitate to go there again. There were two draw-backs to the experience-first-the payout at the slots was very poor there(dropped lots of dollars there) and second-Coach USA(this is who supplied the transportation back and forth to the airport) is the worst. We almost missed our flight home waiting on a pick-up. all-in-all, the entire experience was one we'll never forget. Going back again this year. this time we're staying at Caesars Palace.

t stay

Stayed here 25th-28th April. The hotel itself is very well done with an atmospheric shopping precinct and some great restaurants (zefferellis my favourite). Lovely to visit but what extra do the guests get ? Well they get a 'suit' which is basically a slightly bigger room than usual split into two levels - one for the bed and a lounge/TV area - so it's really just a gimmick (unless you are hosting a book club or something). Walls are paper thin - I could actually hear the bloke next door snoring!. Everything is standard. And thats the big problem with being a guest here - as you are paying more than everywhere else you are entitled to expect more - you simply don't get it, nothing in the rooms stand out as unique or luxurious. Also a word of warning, we booked a standard suit and didn't pay additional for a view of the strip. When we checked in we got to our room(door was broken - wouldn't close), and saw our view - what I can only describe as one of the most depressing views I have ever seen - a concrete jungle with big black pipes as far as the eye can see - and if you think I'm exagerating I just hope you never have to see it . Obviously we couldn't stay in a room with such a depressing view (and one where the door didn't close) so complained but were forced to pay additional for a better view. Building work was going on but thankfully we were away from it (although some unlucky people had to endure that). Other than that the pool is quite big but standard looking (and half the area is in the shade for most of the day). One other point - this is the only hotel I've ever stayed in that did not have a comments card to fill in - so they obviously are not confident on guests giving them glowing reviews. For location it can't be beat, for price and quality sadly it can.

venetian is def. not the bellagio....

from A TripAdvisor Member
This was my fifth trip to vegas but my first time not staying at the bellagio this time we wanted to try something new so we decided on the venitian we thought the were the same caliber, what a mistake!!Ok so we checked in got to our rooms, they gave us a room facing the constuction, which within the first 5 min. we decided it was time to make a move and change rooms the construction was very loud. so beware make sure that you request a room not near the construction. Ok so we get to our 2nd room and don't get me wrong the rooms are really nice they have a living room area a bedroom area and they are really big but if you are in you room for more hours than to catch some zzz's you are not really experiencing "sin city" to the fullest. We'll let me get to the point nothing compases to the bellagio the fountains are breathtaking, the service is first rate and the experience is one of a kind. So my advice to you "sin city" fans splurge spend the extra money and stay at the bellagio. Enjoy!!!!

overrated to say the least!

from A TripAdvisor Member
You could hear the drum band downstairs all night, could smell all the cooking odors of the restaurants, and there was a whistling noise that was extremely loud coming from around the door whenever the air came on which was almost constant. There were holes in the sheets and they even use the cheapest tissues they can find-like sandpaper. I would rather stay at a Quinta Inn than ever go here again. Take the Bellagio, people. There is no comparison!

Changes at Venetian

from A TripAdvisor Member
I have stayed at the Venetian several times. My rooms are comped and I basically stay free. My last trip was for my birthday in Nov, 02 and I was really disappointed. Every time we have gone it seems that the hotel takes on a sense of "snootyness" and the prices for everything keep going up. I was even harrassed by the security guard trying to drive to the parking garage. The rooms are nice and the food is ok. I have decided to go somewhere else till they finish the construction. 4:00am workers does't do well for me. Really noisy. I may return someday, but for now I'm outta here.

My Goodness

from A TripAdvisor Member
Let me tell you...when we arrived from the airport, I started getting scared because of the way the drive took, which was the back of the hotel where the construction was going on..but once we pulled upin front of the hotel and got out......... it was heaven, love at first site. From there on! The quick service at the check out, the quick baggage handling.... it was just wonderful. And the rooms.....ohhhh the rooms are wonderful! They are beau-ti-ful! The shops and the restaurants, you would think youre in Venice. I just went this FEB., and I'm already planning to go back and it's not because of the city(although I did have the time of my life being there.....they don't call it SIN CITY FOR NOTHING*OWWWW*)it's because of the enjoyment and relaxing experience that I had while staying at the beautiful and magnficent Venetian Hotel! You definitely get what you pay for! I LOVE THIS HOTEL and all of my friends have already booked rooms here, beacuse they know I'm a Hard Person to Please! Husbands and wives, girlfriends & boyfriends that are looking for a romantic getaway, this is the perfect place, you will never want to leave! And Let me not leave out those that just want to get away with friends and just looking to have a dayum good time....This is the Place to Do Exactly That! ANYWAY.. STAYING HERE, IS A MUST!

Big rooms, poor service

from A TripAdvisor Member
We have stayed twice at the Venetian, once on a new years holiday. First the good, they are centrally located, fairly close on the strip, the lobby and casino are gorgeous, non-smoking rooms don't reek of smoke, love the canals, shopping, room views are pretty good, toilets are in separate rooms in the bathrooms which is nice, the casino slots are good and I have always made money, the table hosts for roulette and black jack are very nice, restaurants are great, even the fast food which is reasonably priced for the hotel, the new branch of the Gugginheim is lovely, the Warner 16 restaurant is great, especially the Casablanca room. One day at lunch we were the only other guests in the Oceans 11 room when Albert Brooks came in with friends for lunch, that was neat. Now the the less than good, it is all suites, but the regular suites are just a regular hotel room with a split level of one step down divided with a railing. Typical vegas marble bathrooms but our showers flooded the bathroom since they don't have sealers on the glass doors. It gets wet, slippery and wastes your towels trying not to break your neck. Our safe one year had a battery problem that sent staff up to us whenever we tried to open it, and they have without a doubt the worst and slowest room service in Vegas. In two stays at all hours of day and night they never got an order to us in a resonable time an never got a room service order right. There was always either something missing or the wrong item. I also disliked that leaving the hotel often entailed a trip past the wax museum on a people mover. We consider their prices on the high side for vegas rooms. Now we are trying different Vegas hotels but we shop, eat, and gamble a lot at the Venetian.

Top Local Tips for Las Vegas

Show a $20 bill at check-in, get an upgrade I stayed at Venetian, showed a $20 bill at check-in, and we got upgraded from 1 King Bed to 2 Queen Beds.

Getting Free Upgrades Apparentely, if you tip the front desk agent (depending on how many nights you stay), they will definitely take care of you! That's what I do every time I visit a hotel!

Driving Las Vegas Unless you want to get stuck in traffic, get a map of Las Vegas, know your Hotel and find the back entrance. But !, all valet service is free in vegas hotels, so remember that Valet key.
