The food was awful, the rooms were filthy - and the staff was difficult. Nobody informed us that there was a convention coming in the morning of our check out - in the morning, we couldn't even get a cup of coffee - and the soda machines, etc were empty.

Don't believe the hype - there's a great lodge up the road -and it isn't nearly as expensive.

Top Local Tips for Las Vegas

STOP IN VEGAS OR SOMEWHERE BEFORE GOING UP THERE.... There are literally NO STORES or GAS STATIONS on MOUNT CHARLESTON. So first, make sure you have a full tank of gas. (we did). Second, maybe pack a few things like some drinks for you and your kids (if you bring them.) Also load up on a few snacks, like dried fruit or nuts or something. We always like to bring a few things for the kids to munch on like crackers or fruit snacks. We made a HUGE mistake in NOT bringing them anything. If you need certain toiletries be sure you bring them or shop for them prior TO driving atop Mount Charleston. You think "oh, gee , I am only going to be gone for one night" but you don't realize how isolated you are from the simplest things.

Don't go here Don't bother with this hotel.
