Mirage is great, but a few negatives

I loved the Mirage with a few caveats - the valet service can be quite slow, and the bathroom is tiny - although there is a vanity table outside the bath, it is still very tight - was not too great for two ladies!

Stayed in standard room, ate at the Cafe only - food was okay - nothing exceptional

02/2005 I celebrated my 21st birthday at the Mirage. I was immediately upgraded to the Penthouse suite!!! Totally living large. The employees were more than accomidating and the casino was great!! Cravings was an excellent buffet!! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone and as a matter of fact I am returning to Vegas in September and staying at the MGM Grand because the are a associated with the Mirage.

For Luxury comfort and the best service in Las Vegas The Mirage is the place to stay. Nothing is too much for the staff of this excellent hotel. The casino is wonderful for entertainment. The resturants are suberb, with delicious food for all tastes. The shops are exquisite with luxury items at affordable prices. The hotel even boasts a dolphin habitat, a Big Cat habitat and a huge fish tank. Very refreshing to see in the heat of Nevada. The hotel has excellent air conditioning to keep you cool. Once inside you will not want to leave.
A must stay!

Historical Traveller Reviews of The Mirage Hotel

Rooms were great!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Check in was adequate time wise, Easter weekend. Really didn't think it would be so crowded. Too many kids everywhere you went. Rooms were well taken care of. Got the upgraded view from an interet ad, it was beautiful. Didn't remember to ask for a room closer to the elevator-DON"T MAKE MY MISTAKE-it's along walk to the room after walking all day. But the view is probably better for the volcano. Service was good, but slow. Couldn't even eat in the hotel, all the restaraunts were so crowded-1-2 hr wait average. Pool was crowded. Maybe it's always like this, but it was my first time. All in all my husband and I had a great weekend, but I wouldn't be going back any time soon. Not for us. Not big gamblers. Hope this helps.

Staff Very Helpful

First time LV visitor. As we have no prior experince to compare, just a few observations. TI is we maintained and CLEAN, very clean. We found the staff to be very helpful. Needed a fridge for diabetic supplies, called office, it was there in less than an hour. We hit a $1000 payout within an hour of being there on a slot. Nice begining to the whole trip. The night the war started, they would not allow anyone up the elevators without a key card. That was reassuring. One bone to pick, whats with those mini pillows they have on the bed? I see no redeeming value in them at all. Had a very nice strip view, given without even asking at the desk. Checkout is easy, as you can fill out the card (found in the room desk) the day before and can leave without visiting the desk. Check in was not crowded at all. Slot waitress are few and far between, so if you want a drink while playing, it takes some effort and a good tip to keep them comming. The buffet is not the best by any standard, but convienient. Some of the food was lukewarm, but not overly so. I would highly recommend TI for a stay, it offers fine service at a reasonable price.

If you can find a good price, stay here!

My son and I stayed here in April 99. This is our favorite Vegas resort. The whole place smells of the tropics, literally, the place smells great. The casino is decorated pretty nicely too, and it is easy to navigate. Great pool area, though it is colder than the other Vegas resorts. If you can find a good rate here, I would reccomend this resort. We have been to Vegas 3 or 4 times, and though we haven't been back due to high prices, we always come back to visit.

We stayed 4 nights at the mirage in a penthouse suite with a view of the strip the only reason I am not giving an excellent rating is the pool was closed and the dolphin and tiger exhibit were also closed most of the time we were there so we never got to enjoy any of these sites on the property other than that any food we had was above average, the staff was more than accomadating, we had a problem trying to park as our rig wouldnt fit in the garage and one of the security people was rude but the hotel mgr. took care of that all in all it was a good trip. Our next trip will probaly be to the Gold Coast the buffet was great when we were there to see a show and since they have finished the remodel the place is nice and clean so we will give it a try next time.

By far the best hotel i have stayed in

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Mirage is the nicest hotel ever. The rooms are fantanstic though a little small but you dont spend a lot of time in your room anyways. The pool is the coolest pool in Vegas. With a slide going to another pool and islands and grottos and waterfalls. Plus the people treat you really nicely. We will definently be back at this hotel many times. I give it an A++++++++!

Treated like Royalty!

We had a 3 night stay at the Mirage May 2002. It was our first trip to Vegas for our 5th anniversary. We booked a tower suite and upon arrival asked for a free upgrade to a penthouse and our request was granted! The staff was friendly, room was awesome! Gambling was okay...we lost our butts. Had better luck at Harrah's across the street. Try their Superfun 21!! But as far as our hotel can't beat the Mirage it is a gorgeous resort!

5 stars for the Mirage

from A TripAdvisor Member
My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Mirage for Valentine's Day weekend. There was a very short line at check-in, the rates were reasonable, and the room was spotless. We stayed on Friday night for $139, which was a great deal compared to some of the other hotels high prices. The room was very spacious and beautiful. We would defintly stay there again. We would also recommend visiting the dolphin habibtat. That was very fun and entertaining. the only complaint we had was that the pool, (which was rated the best pool in Las Vegas), was closed for maintenance. But, then again, it was February. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Mirage.

disappointed in Secret Garden show

from A TripAdvisor Member
While Visiting in Las Vegas, my wife and I attended the Dolphin Tanks and the Secret Gardens; we were very disappointed that it was only a show of 5 lions, one overaged elephant, 2 tigers, a turkey and this can be easily seen at our favorite zoo.. The gardens were only cages, not gardens with flowers and beauty or anything special for the amount of money you charged, we really felt ripped off..for a Hotel, casino of the Mirage's, we got more from the video of Danny Gann on the way in for we were coming out, we also heard remarks unfavorable by others for this same event..we think you need to take a good look at this event that is overcharged for and in most cases would normally be a free event for lack of interesting material..I would not recommend this show to any other visitors to Las Vegas...

t stay anywhere else!!

I love the Mirage!! I don't know what it is, but I love the atmosphere that is created at the Mirage. Besides its great location, they have very nice rooms, a great casino area, buffet, pool, it's all very nice. I would recommed that everyone go see Danny Gans. He must have the best show in town, besides Sigfreid and Roy. Both shows are a great show...don't let the prices scare you, it's worth every penny!! Great access to other casino's from here.

Top Local Tips for Las Vegas

FREE DRINKS never buy a drink in the hotel, go to the casino and sit at a machine when the waitress comes order your drinks from her, they are free (alcoholic or tea coffee etc) all you have to do is tip her (approx $1 per round)

Desert Grandeur You owe it to yourself to rent a car and go see Red Rock Canyon, the Mount Charleston loop road, or the Valley of Fire. Get off the strip one day into this unique desert wilderness. Nothing short of fantastic.

Grand Luxe Cafe Palazzo You need to eat here absolutely wonderful
