| I'm such a wuss. Scared of heights but I go and book a night at the Stratosphere! Actually it was for the benefit of our 3 boys who desperately wanted to go on the rides at the top of the tower and to take pix of Vegas at night from the observation area. That part was actually really great fun, but not impressed with the room. We specifically asked for non-smoking and they gave us a room that although it said n/s on the door the shower curtain absolutely stank of stale cigarette smoke, even when the bathroom door was closed it still pervaded the room! However another guest told us that everyone smokes in Vegas whether they normally do or not, so probably completely ignore the n/s room signs! The main buffet restaurant served an adequate, self-service breakfast which the boys loved as it was an all you can eat affair and a great novelty for them to start off with breakfast and an hour later select stuff for dinner! Lack of correct communication from reservation staff meant that we almost lost out on going up to the Tower that evening as they did not tell us that we could only use our free guest pass up to a certain time in the afternoon rather than going up in the evening, as we had planned to do. However, extremely helpful and friendly manager sorted it all out and gave us a comp slip so we could go up there as a family. I doubt I would stay there again as the rooms were very small and boxy. Then again as my other half says, if you are only going to Vegas to gamble and stay up all night you probably only do want a basic room for a quick shower and nap. We moved on to the Sahara for our second night in Vegas the rooms were much bigger, smelled fresh and had a bit more character. |
