I'm such a wuss. Scared of heights but I go and book a night at the Stratosphere! Actually it was for the benefit of our 3 boys who desperately wanted to go on the rides at the top of the tower and to take pix of Vegas at night from the observation area. That part was actually really great fun, but not impressed with the room. We specifically asked for non-smoking and they gave us a room that although it said n/s on the door the shower curtain absolutely stank of stale cigarette smoke, even when the bathroom door was closed it still pervaded the room! However another guest told us that everyone smokes in Vegas whether they normally do or not, so probably completely ignore the n/s room signs! The main buffet restaurant served an adequate, self-service breakfast which the boys loved as it was an all you can eat affair and a great novelty for them to start off with breakfast and an hour later select stuff for dinner! Lack of correct communication from reservation staff meant that we almost lost out on going up to the Tower that evening as they did not tell us that we could only use our free guest pass up to a certain time in the afternoon rather than going up in the evening, as we had planned to do. However, extremely helpful and friendly manager sorted it all out and gave us a comp slip so we could go up there as a family. I doubt I would stay there again as the rooms were very small and boxy. Then again as my other half says, if you are only going to Vegas to gamble and stay up all night you probably only do want a basic room for a quick shower and nap. We moved on to the Sahara for our second night in Vegas the rooms were much bigger, smelled fresh and had a bit more character.

We stayed at this hotel for our 25th wedding anniversary, we also were married in Vegas so we wanted to make this a special time. We stayed at the Stratosphere for a week, everything was great: Shows, Food Room. We ate on top of the world it was very special, the night before we were to leave we started packing and we noticed that our stuff was not in right places and dissaray in closet and suite cases, housekeeping was going through our stuff.

I called the hotel several times, I have special requirements and I wanted to make my vacation as easy as possible. I can't walk very far. So I called to see if they could get me a power chair, powered being the operative word. They said that would not be a problem. I knew you could rent them, however they said since I was a guest there would be no charge. Things were looking up upon more research, laundry service available - no fee listed. Called the hotel again, was told that was part of the resort fee and it was free, no charge. There were other problems, but I would not recommend this hotel to anybody
Trying to vacation on a budget, because they will tell you everything is included on the phone but when you get there everything is extra. I asked about the things that I had
requested. They said they could get a chair but it would be $40 a day and there was a self-service coin operated laundry facility on the 6th floor. As far as maid service 2nd day of stay bed looked made up but here was a pile of sheets on the nightstand along with a Vegas phone book. They also turned the thermostat down to 68 in was set at 73 be me because of health reasons. The room was so cold for me I had an attack sneezing violently and throwing up. Sneezing was so violent that I fell on the bed, bounced off and landed on the floor. If I had landed or hit my head I would probably be dead instead of pissed off.

After I checked in went to room they had originally gave me room on 19th floor room 41971 and it was filthy wet towels on bed etc.
They told us to go to room 23 on same floor and wait for key...we waited for 20 min before I decided to go get the key myself. NO I'm sorry no nothing... I am very disappointed in my stay as is my friend that was in room 86 on same floor her name is Liz. Im sure she will be contacting you also. Edith Meyer stayed June 6-11...also did not get my messages sent to me. I felt like this ruined my stay..

The Stratosphere Restaurant was the worst food we've eaten in a long long time!!! We were told to wear smart clothes, so we got all dressed up, looking forward to a nice meal. The restuarant was impressive and the service was excellent, it was just the most disgusting food we'd ever eaten!! It was supposed to be posh al a carte food but was something you'd expect to find in a grubby english pub. We barely ate a thing and was extremelly disapointed with it. I certainly would not recommend anyone going there to eat!!!

The Stratosphere hotel ruined our Las Vegas trip in so many ways. My wife and I had booked and planned our trip 5 months in advance, with the primary focus on seeing Barry Manilow at the Hilton (my wife is a HUGE fan and the reason we waited 5 months was so that I could get her the best seats, which turned out to be 2nd row center). Needless to say she was as excited as a little child on Christmas morning during the 5 month waiting time! Now, let me break down this horrible place by category for easier reading...
CHECK IN PROCESS - We arrived at the Stratosphere hotel on Thursday afternoon and we had to wait 40 MINUTES in line at the registration desk due to the fact that they had only 3 clerks, and what made things worse was they would help anyone who just walked up and skipped the line. After about 10 minutes I was fuming and decided to just walk up myself, and was promptly told to get back in line since I wasn't checking out or switching rooms, or that I wasn't a gold card member of the hotel. Finally got to the clerk after all that time and asked why it took almost as long to stand in line for check-in as it took to fly down from Washington State! All I got was a smile... no apology or even a caring look.
THE ROOM - I had anticipated a small room with the package I booked so I called in advance to upgrade to a larger room, that according to the hotel web-site had a minibar, room safe and a coffee maker. This room was not only a dump with a view of the parking garage across the street, it didn't have the above mentioned items. I called the front desk to inquire about this and was again promptly and rather shortly told that only the suites had these items in them, and "if" she could find one available it would cost an additional $275!!!! I just hung up in disbelief, I mean come on folks... we're not rich and snobby people, but at least a coffee maker would be nice to have, right?
FOOD POISONING - Friday night we ordered a sample appetizer plate from room service that contained 2 chicken wings, 2 chicken tenders and a couple quesadilla's. My wife ate the wings and we shared the rest. Within 2 hours she became VIOLENTLY ILL and was up all night and into the next day vomiting, in obvious pain and discomfort. She was only able to get out of bed all day on Saturday to use the bathroom. Very typical signs of food poisoning.
OTHER CASES - At the airport returning home, I mentioned this to the ticket gal at the gate and asked if my wife could get her seat early so she could sit and rest while the other passengers boarded - and she told me she'd heard of MULTIPLE cases of food poisoning from the Stratosphere, and that we should contact them and let them know they have yet another case.
FOLLOW-UP - When we returned home on Sunday my wife saw her doctor the next day and he confirmed it was indeed food poisoning.
BARRY MANILOW - Of course we missed the show, the whole reason we were in Vegas to begin with. She was devastated, to say the least.
HOTEL STAFF - Other than a couple bartenders and waitresses, they were all very indifferent to us - almost to the point of being rude. Like I said before, we're not old, rich or snobby people - we're just a couple of regular folks in our 40's who like to have fun, a few drinks, dance a little and gamble. The dealers at the tables seemed like zombies to me, no personalities and all of them acted like they totally didn't want to be there. Of course, with this hotel I can see why... they probably treat the employees like the guests.
Folks.... there's no reason on earth to stay or play at this place. They all could care less if you do and they act like it. Vegas is a wonderful town and there are many great hotels that's worth the prices they charge! Either that, or stay at a Motel 6 while you're there... at least you'll have hot coffee in your room in the morning.

My husband and I stayed at your hotel in October of 2005. This was the first time we went to Las Vegas and we had a wonderful time. Your hotel is very clean and the service was great. All your employees are very friendly. We went to the buffet at the courtyard and it was the best buffet we ever had, all the food choices were perfect. The bed and pillows were very comfortable; the room was spotless and always came back to a clean room. The over all view of the hotel was EXCELLENT. The only thing that I wish could of happen on our vacation was to win some money on the slots, we thought the slots were very tight, you couldn't win anything to play on a slot more then 15 minutes, other then the slots, the rest was wonderful and we will be back someday.

I stayed at the stratosphere during the week of august 14-19th 2005. The decor was good but I was quite disappointed in the arrangements of the hotel. First of all I am pretty sure casinos have a way of strategically placing items the way they do to get the people down into the casino to spend spend spend. Understandable! However I did not find any common courtesies which I believe should be there for the paying customer. There was no ice machine on the third floor which we stayed on and you had to visit a separate floor in order to get some which made it inconvenient for us. Secondly when you wake up in the moring after playing for hours and hours in the casino at night--it would have been a great courtesy to find an electric coffee machine in the room with complimentary packets of coffee so a person could wake up before showering, getting dressed, then head down to the casino. Thirdly I was forced to pay upon checkout a $ 25.00 fee on my bill for something I did not want to participate in such as the tower or the Viva Legas show. Even where I was playing the crazy 4 poker had no restrooms near it and the walk everywhere was far especially having the back problems that I do. Although I may say one positive experience I had. I must commend you on your staff of dealers namely 3 ladies I had the pleasure of knowing----I do not know their last names but they were Claudia----Panee-----& Lina. They made my experience there on my last day there very enjoyable and they are a credit to your establishment. I do not plan to go back to your hotel but if I did it woule only for the reasons of how professional and enjoyable these individals are on your staff. I would like a response from you on this matter but if there is none I will understand.

My husband and I stayed here for a week in January 2005. It cost £200 for the week in a very clean comfortable room. The hotel situation, at the north of the strip, meant a ride on the trolley bus which picked up outside the back of the hotel. The staff were all friendly, the buffet was nothing spectacular, but good value and always fresh, with a good selection. Lunch in the restaurant at the top of the tower was great, wonderful views, but the best bit for me was Roxys Diner, lots of food, prompt friendly service and so much fun to have the staff singing as you eat.
