Even though the hotel was being renovated at the time of our visit, it was enjoyable. It was set in the strip and everything was easily accessible. The rooms were spotless and large, with an amazing bathroom.
The down side was that when we first arrived the bell boy was reluctant to help, when the taxi let us off and threw our cases on the trolley. He then had the cheek to ask for a tip as it was someone else that would deliver our luggage to our room. You can guess the answer. We also had to call room service as the safe in our room was not operating. They said they would send someone up, we are still waiting.
However all in all it was a great stay. They are renovating the hotel and appear to re naming it Planet Hollywood. I would recommend this hotel for those that wish to travel on an affordable holiday to Las Vegas.

Best location on The Strip

My Hubby and I visited The Aladdin in July 2006 and it was hot - 117F! However, our lovely room overlooking the swimming pools was beautiful, huge and air conditioned to perfection! We could also the see tops of The Bellagio fountains from our room, The Eiffel Tower from The Paris, next door and our bathroom was very big and spotless. It is location where this hotel scores most as it is central in The Strip with shuttle buses running outside the door, all air conditioned of course. The "rainstorm, thunder and lightening" shows every hour were fascinating inside the hotel, also you were least likely to get lost at The Aladdin, which seemed to be the case in others we visited. Plenty of restaurants and miles of shopping in "The Desert Passage" all air conditioned. Helpful staff everywhere and the Casino was fun too! A booking facility in the shopping area gave informative choices of interesting things to do during our stay, including the magnificent Grand Canyon to visit, nearby.
The swimming pools were lovely and clean (two large ones) with views of "Paris" staffed by lifeguards and pretty girls to order drinks from!
With The Bellagio across the road to enjoy the fountains and a very central location this is an excellent hotel.

I have been to Vegas 3 times now and stayed at the Aladdin, MGM Tower Garden room and MGM West Wing room. The Aladdin is by far the best of the three. Although the lobby and check-in leaves you with a somewhat sour taste due to the fact that there is a very limited number of guest employees, the room was much more than I expected. There was plenty of space in the room and the bathroom (which makes or breaks a room to me) was enormous. The very large tub, seperate shower and marble throughout were fabulous. The staff was at times somewhat stand-offish, but I found this in practically every hotel I have stayed. The location is great, right in the middle of the strip. The only draw back was the view. I got a great look at the rooftop of the casino.

Rooms were less than average, service is next to none, and treatment was rude with the exception of a couple staff members.

Finally, a decent Las Vegas hotel

from Traveler1
It's taken some twenty years, but I've finally found a
reasonably-priced, full-service Las Vegas hotel with a staff that
tries. Clean, comfortable, attractive rooms with quality furnishings,
comfortable beds and linens. Spacious, first-class bathrooms, and
generous bathroom amenities. The public areas were very well-kept as
well. On both stays, my room view was marginal, so you need to know the
lay of the land. The orientation and hours of the pools were not
customer-friendly, and don't bother to park your own car, unless you
bring rations, a flashlight, and a cell phone to call the search party
.A few high points on both visits. The car valet gets a 7 out of 10
(personable staff, but not 100% efficient), an amazing score for Las
Vegas. Casino staff and managers get a 10 our of 10. I'm not a serious
gambler, but I was happy to let go of some $ considering how well I was
treated--and they will gladly answer questions!! Tremezzo lived up to
the Zagat ratings, and then some. Four visits to the Zanzibar Cafe
yielded some creative, high-quality food, with a service rating of
7--not cheap, but a good value. The Spice Market Buffet was an 8 our of
10. Relative to overall value, good-bye Harrah's, Tropicana, Mirage,
and MGM Grand. I prefer a place that has more than one employee who
acknowledges my presence. I'll definitely be back.

horrible...will never go there again...too many extra charges...

Great Rooms!!

They have some of the greatest rooms in vegas. I don't know of any other place that a basic deluxe room includes a huge bathroom with soaking tub and seperate shower. The rooms are certainly oversized, maybe not the biggest in Vegas, but biggest for the value. The buffet and casino area are also great. Would recommed the budget concious person to give them a try!

Nice One!

We got our rooms for next to nothing, good start!!

Rooms were great, we requested a Strip view and certainly got it...overlooked Bellagio & Paris, great view at night.

Rooms huge as was the bathroom, what a size of bath!

Only drawback was slight smell of food wafting in the windows from cafe many floors below...however, not a daily event.

We will be back!!

Great Location

from A TripAdvisor Member
Aladdin was a great hotel. The best thing that Aladdin offers is its location. Being dead center to all the major strip hotels it's an easy walk to any of the other venues. The Casino is not the best but there again you can walk to which ever casino you choose easily. As far as food, the Aladdin buffet was ok but more expensive than the Paris buffet right next door. I would advise walking next door for this. There is also a very nice Chinese resturant located on site that is fantastic. Finally, Aladdin has one of the largest shopping malls of any of the strip hotels. A wide variety of shops make this an excellent shopping location.

We stayed at this fantastic hotel in march 02,really didn't know what to expect.By all standards this is by far one of the finest hotels in Las Vegas. We have been coming to Las Vegas since the late 80's and have stayed at many locations, this being the best by far. They offer spacious rooms, that are very clean and well appointed. The staff was absoultly GREAT!!!! the shopping and many restaurant selections were awesome. We are coming again to las vegas in march 2003 and will again be staying at the Aladdin. ........Dennis Liegey

mixed feelings

from A TripAdvisor Member
I arrived a little early before check-in time- about 2:20 PM & was told to come back after 3 because the room wasn't ready.
I walked around Desert Passage for more than an hour and returned to have someone tell me that My room was going to take 2 hours to be ready & clean! What? I said that you better be paying for my dinner because I am not walking around for another hour.
What is it with these Las Vegas hotels? Check in time is usually at 3 PM & they can tell you hey, it's not ready till whenver & WE have to be inconvenienced for hours cause "Their maids have till 5:00 PM to clean!"
Yet, 11:00 AM is check out time and if we leave one minute later we are charged!!!!!!!
The consolation was that she DID get me a room after I got upset and the room was nice. BIG BATHROOMS with a TV and bed was hard as a rock.
Advice for people that are UNHAPPY with hotels here- COMPLAIN and go to the manager and
Say this is how I am unhappy and how I am being treated and they will give you a line of B-------t and never apologize and make it like you are the one causing the problem (IGNORE THAT) and request a discount off the price of the room. If that isn't working but (usually yelling in front of a room full of tourists will get them to do something).
There is NO reason that they can get away with charging high high prices and for people to have to put up with this.

Great room and price

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed just over a year ago. The hotel was new and in receivership at that time. They were not busy and upgraded us to a suite for a misunderstanding over the reservation. Great room for $79 and the 1.2 miles of shopping/restaurants are the best on the strip. Good location. Was pick-pocketed in front of the Paris next door but not the hotel's fault. Crook must have been surprised at the $1 he got. Shop around and if this hotel is the same price as Ballys, Hilton, Luxor, Excalibur it is the better choice.

What a great time!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed here this past July. What a great place! Check-in was quick & painless. Every one of the employees went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. The pool area is nice, but a bit small for my taste. Also, I was bummed that they do not have a keno lounge...maybe they do, but I sure didn't see it. Dealers are always courteous & helpful. All-in-all I'd HIGHLY recommend staying here to anyone.

Get ready to walk!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I actually really liked this hotel a lot. The rooms are better than most and very clean. Nice oversized bathrooms. The only problem is that the parking is really far from the check in area. The hotel was very poorly planned. I got lost everytime I tried to get back to my room. I'm young and have the energy so I didn't mind so much, but if you are not into walking a lot, this might not be the hotel for you. The shopping area is beautiful and there is a very cool lightning/storm effect every so often.
