This overpriced hotel that was nothing close to sanitary was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Also we had unexpected travelers come home with us, bedbugs in our luggage, guess it was too dirty for them too!!

There was black mold growing in my shower. The rooms themselves are only average. It's not a clean place at least my room was not cleaned very well even the first day. Not only that but there is a ton of construction. Staff are not well trained and there seems to be a shortage of them. Check in was a bad experience.Trying to get them to correct their error, a bad experience. The only good thing about them is that there is a McDonalds so you can get cheap breakfast.

I love this hotel! OK rooms, good but now "WOW!" Good location (close to everything). The pools are great! My stay was very fun.

Price was ok, location was fantastic with a great view of McDonalds, the M&M store, Denny's and the MGM grand! Room was spacious, clean with large restroom. Casino was great fun! Staff were friendly, helpful with a smile on their face.

We stayed in the Spa Suite and it was beautiful with a HUGE Jacuzzi overlooking the strip. Might sound cheesy but it was great! It is a smaller hotel and the staff was very gracious. Loved it so much we even brought home a "special" souvenir...I became pregnant during our stay. Guess what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas!!!
Best thing was the price

We got a good price and the room was OK. The cocktail lounge was dissapointing but the restaurant/buffets were nice. I booked the hotel because I had always wanted to experience your drifting pool but sadly it wasn't open. Pretty good location on the strip though. I'd like to try Mandalay Bay or the new DI sometime but I won't rule out the Monte Carlo.

Nice decent room and clean, but was a little disappointed for all the hype we thought the room was going to be nicer!

Monte Carlo -- very good hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
We had stayed at the Excalibur last year and hated the place and having been to Las Vegas before, thought the Monte Carlo was a) well placed and b) smart looking. We were not disappointed, unlike the check in at Excalibur where you wait interminably and are greeted with grunts, the Monte Carlo check in was a delight, very friendly. Our room was nice, neat, clean and tidy and it remained that way throughout and it was invariably made up well before lunchtime (unlike Excalibur where it could be 4pm). No hesitation in recommending it.....

had good rates, but....

Upon check-in we went to our room and found it already to be occupied, disturbing for us but probably more disturbing for the other people. Found the staff to be rude and unfriendly, drink service was very slow and the pool area is a joke. We did enjoy the casino next door ( The Boardwalk), it was great, alot of fun and very friendly staff.

t appreciate their customers

My wife and I were married at the Monte Carlo one year to the day. Even though we not only got married there, but we brought a whole wedding party that put several thousand dollars into the wedding, gambling and dining as well. This place only sends me offers to stay with no extra perks. No free rooms or any appreciation of our business. I don't recommend getting married there since they failed to accomadate our concerns after they called us wanting a review of how things went. The rooms are average. The only encouraging thing about this place is the pool area. I personally would not recommend table games there since the minimums are high. Sports book is below average and I can't see how they do any good during football season since it is extremely small for any crowd. There so called "free slot tournament" is very dull with a low payout for the winner. All of the little perks are extra out of your pocket. I know that there are better places to go to make your gambling dollar go longer and better places to stay for the extra perks. The location and food are excellent, but i would recommend gambling somewhere else.

Great Hotel, great location, great price

from leesaover
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Monte Carlo in April for 3 nights. Although the weather was pretty awful, we had a great time. The Monte Carlo is in a great location, you can walk to both ends of the strip. We went south one day and north the next. The tram was down when we were there so we did a LOT of walking. We were, however able to take the montorail from Excalibur to Luxor and then on to the Bellagio. I got a great deal at the hotel's website, better than my travel agent or any of the discount websites (expedia, travelocity, etc.) The hotel is beautiful, my room was clean and the service was great. We only ate breakfast at the buffet (which was good) so I can't comment on any of the restaurants. The pool area was great, with a lazy river and all. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck here.

Good, but some issues

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I stayed at the Monte Carlo in February 2002 for our wedding/honeymoon. I will agree that the hotel is in a superb location and our room was very clean and comfortble. But we thought it was inportant to point out a couple of inconveniences- When we checked in very smoothly, got our room key and went to our room-only to find it was occupied! Thank goodness the other guests were not there, but it was obvious it was someone elses room. We went back down to check-in and were given a better viewed room for our inconveniece. We went to our new room and were pleased with our view. We noticed that there was a room service cart with dirty dishes in the area near the evelvator. No big deal other than that cart with dirty! dishes stayed there for the first 2 days we were there. Not a pleasant sight every day! Also- the second day we were there we noticed a big bottle of water in our room after the maid cleaned for sale for some ridiculous price. We had not seen that water on the first night we checked in. As we predicted, we were charged for the bottle of water NOT THERE on the first night. After some discussion at check out, management took the $12 or something off our bill. Also- the pool area here is nice but does not get full sun, if thats your thing.n Overall, I'd probably stay here again.

Great Value, Great Resort!

Great place and great value! Stayed here in April 02 and was very satisfied. Great rooms and a very nice bathroom. The whole place is clean and elegant looking. There are good deals here too. It has a nice pool area, not the best like the Mirage or something, but a nice pool. Good location, value, and rooms. My son and I are staying here again this upcoming April.

Nice Price Great Location

from A TripAdvisor Member
For the price that I had paid, the location was great! Stayed 6 nites, averaged $90/nite. Positives:- very clean rooms. Charming furniture.- nice size bathroom (had warm water 5 of 6 nites).- nice size casino: not too big, not too small.- nice layout: from hotel elevator lobby to "strip" was a short walk (most mega hotels had long mazes).- great location: as soon as walk out to strip, you are near many well known hotels: NYNY, Paris, Ballagio (and short taxi ride to all strip hotels).- convenient monorail to Ballagio.- check in staff was friendly.- house cleaing and security staff was friendly.- 3 decent size pools: regular pool, wave pool, lazy river pool (also jacuzzi).- dealers were very sociable (but not pit bosses).- did not play slots (cannot comment).- clientele of hotel was socialable: ranged from old couples that wanted a nice hotel but was budget consciouse to young people that wanted a nice hotel but couldn't afford Ballagio yet! Lower-end- upscale hotel would be a fare accessment.- 24 hr CVS Pharmacy Food Mart "right next" to hotel was great!- 24 hr taxi service avalable at hotel lobby.- Since we checked in Sunday, got lucky, and got a room with a fantastic view of strip with no additonal cost!- arcade for kids.Negatives: - shops need to be more modernized (very small shopping area compared to more newer hotels)- food court only had a few fast food francises.- did not try hotel buffet because of previous bad reviews.- walls were paper thinned on 19th floor. (as indicated in previous reviews of this hotel, but on the flip side we only averaged 3 hrs of sleep for 1st four nites since we did not spend much time in room at all). Honeymooners may need to consider other hotels.- plumbing was loud (but bearable).- pit bosses were not sociable.Final Notes:- cannot comment on hotel restaurants nor 24 hr room service (did not try them).- cannot comment on spa (did not go to).- hotel is a little old compared to newer resorts, but again, being a smaller hotel with a friendly staff gave it that cozy, old world charm; hence the name Monte Carlo.- the hotel is known for Lance Burton (which I think puts on a great show for the price). And hotel is also know for it's micro brewery, which had great beer and a nice atmoshphere.- I would stay at Monte Carlo again because of the friendly staff (excluding pit boss), great price for the "strip" location, nice pool area, fast entry to hotel room and easy fast access to the strip. However, if you have kids, try a more children themed hotel with a large shopping area, such as Aladdin or Venetia.- Since I won money on Black Jack, over all Vegas experience at Monte Carlo was great!Hope you have a great stay in Vegas!

loved the monte carlo

from A TripAdvisor Member
I searched the net for reviews for the hotels in Vegas. Although there
were alot of mixed reviews on the Monte Carlo, I'm extremely happy I
decided to stay there. There was absolutely no problem checking in or
out. The staff was friendly and helpful. A lot of reviews were saying
the walls are paper thin and had complained of water pipes running. We
had none of these problems. We had a connecting room with my parents.
They like to keep the TV on when they first get into bed for a couple
of hours. We heard nothing. Our stay was quite when we needed sleep and
fun when we needed excitement. I would stay they again, and again. They
sold me.

Monte Carlo Rules!

Monte Carlo/Warning for tourists

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Monte Carlo was a beautiful hotel with great dinner buffet. Great room service with most of the amenities readily available. I had a great time in Vegas overall. The one thing I'd like to comment on is the Polo Towers Hotel Tour. I and others were asked to go on a tour at the Polo Tours Hotel care by Tropicana Hotel personnel. The "Tour" turned out to be a sales presentation for their Polo Towers timeshare. The offer seemed "too good to be true" and the sales people seemed "phony", so I politely declined. I had to decline several times before the sales people let me leave. By that point, I knew something was wrong. While other tourists were skeptical like me, many others, especially seniors, got suckered in.

Top Local Tips for Las Vegas

Only go for 3 days maximum The more hotels that are being built the more sunlight is blocked out at the pools. Make sure you review the view before you book.

Bus Walking up and down the strip is grueling. Take the $5 all day bus ticket option. You can get off and on as many times as you want in a 24 hour period.

Don't check the luggage Waits for luggage during busy times can be as much as one hour. If you can avoid it, bring your luggage on board to save time getting out of the airport.
