We had many terrible experiences during our five night stay here. Overbooking our suite that we had prepaid for (which caused us to have to bounce from room to room during our stay) Our first room with a phone that rang every 5 minutes, second and third night moved to another suite on the so called "quieter, more modern, nicer West Wing" OMG first of all you walk a very long way to get to these rooms. The hallways are dark and dingy to get to this area. After a very hectic day and going on little sleep due to the phone in the previous suite keeping us up most of the night, a long haul with luggage to the West Wing, they "oops" locked us out of our room. The suite was small, dark, dingy no view, and worst of all it smelled. We spent our wedding night in a room the smelled like sewer! The smell got so bad it woke us up. To give you some idea of the intensity if this smell, go find a well filled port-a-potty and stick your head down into the toilet. Whatever the source of this smell is, its obvious that they have some major problems. The smell seeped from our one and only vent in the room as well as from the drains. We spoke to another guest who had the same issues. When speaking to manager, they gave us a baffled look as if they were unaware of the issue (bullshit) This seemed to be the popular response to complaints. By the time we got to our last room we were exhausted from lack of sleep, moving of luggage back and forth we were cranky and pissed. After all this hoping to catch up on some rest and get a later check out time, we were told "No, we are overbooked" It was a Tuesday! The whole experience sucked as did the staff!

If you book with online promo with MGM Grand LV you can end up like we did and get moved more than a mile off from the strip, and they dont care about you or your vacation. When we got to the hotel to check in, the line was 20 people deep clear across the entire lobby, we waited in line for over an hour and while we were in line we were wondering why it was taking so long for it to move. Then when we finally got to the front desk clerk it became all to clear why the line was moving so slowly, many people (including us) were getting bumped to some crummy hotel miles away from the strip. I did my best to complain and demand that we dont get moved but all the managers would say is that they reserve the right to bump us to any other hotel they choose, frequently saying to us I completely Understand so after complaining for 20 minutes it was very clear that we had no choice. We had to ask for money for the cab to take us to our new hotel and we had to fight for some sort of compensation which turned out to be $50.00 credit for a food room charge but no matter what they offered it could not make up for halving to go somewhere we didnt want to stay. For us our itinerary was ruined most of our two day stay was spent complaining to hotel management standing in long lines and being told by hotel staff that we complained to I Completely Understand! We also called up United Escape reservations and told them out plight, the lady called up MGM but she could not help us and basically told us the same story the MGM management told, neither United Escape nor MGM cared about us. On the second day we checked into the West Wing room and check in wasnt until 3PM. When we finally got to the room it was like a modern mausoleum, it was dark, small, air conditioner barley kept up with the heat, no inside door, the bed was too stiff, also, in the morning the housekeeping just let herself into the room while we were sleeping waking us up at 9AM.

Don't let my title fool you, this is a nice hotel, but not 5 star. The hotel is very big and very complicated to get around, especially if you are in the West Wing. This was my second stay at the MGM, and a little better than the first. The West Wing rooms are much smaller than the Tower rooms, but also much nicer. They are very modern and although small, very comfortable. The T.V. in the bathroom mirror was nice. All the West Wing rooms have showers only and the bathroom does not close off to the rest of the room. I can't comment on the staff, as I never saw anyone for the entire 5 days I was there. All in all, a nice 3 - 4 star hotel, but not 5.

This was the first of my 2 trips to the MGM. The tower rooms are definetly 5 star, more like 3 stars. Any hotel in vegas that has shower/tub combos, deserves no more than 3 stars. Room was average.

The MGM is better located now that the monorail has opened. It makes it easier for getting up and down the strip. The room was large (although we did have a suite), but very basic. There was no tea/coffee making facilities, or even a bar in the fridge. The fixture and fittings were quite old and dated but generally a good hotel. The beds were comfy, and the staff friendly. Plenty of facilities within the MGM, and the pools excellent.
