Favorite Vegas Hotel

I go to Vegas a couple of times a year and The Mandalay Bay is my favorite hotel. I've also stayed at Venetian, Monte Carlo, Aladdin, T.I., Excalibur, NYNY, MGM. My most recent stay at MB was Spring 2002. The standard rooms are the best in town. Spacious with a huge bathroom that included double sink and separate toilet, tub and shower. The tropical theme lends to a brighter feel throughout the hotel compared to many of the others on the strip. I never had any noise problems like those mentioned in other reviews, but I'm never in the room much at night. The pool/beach are is great but it does get crowded. I've found this to be the case at all the hotels out there when the weather is nice, though. The restaurants are good but it would be nice to have a few mid-price options. If you like a lot of meat (beef, chicken, pork, fish), definitely try the all you can eat Brazilian style dinner at the Rum Jungle. The buffet is as good as any in town. The location is good or bad depending on your perspective. Its the last Strip hotel to the south, so its a little bit of a hike to wander through the other hotels but you also don't get as many people trafficing through yours. Other notes: 1) lobby is located so that you don't have to walk through casino to get to your room. 2) Sports book is great 3) There is a small, low key poker room which is great for the novice player. 4) Spa/Fitness center is very nice but its $25 a day even if you just want to work out. Definitely go to the hotel website and sign up for mailings/e-mails. They frequently notify you of offers to get rooms as low as $89/weeknights, $109/weekends. Mandalay Bay Over-rated

April 12, 2003Just got home from Las Vegas. We stayed at The Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas first, beautiful - very expensive. Then on to Treasure Island, okay room two great bathrooms, his and hers, for Executive Suite, where we stayed. Finally, Mandalay Bay, nice casino, high ceilings, roomy. Nice pools but very crowded, we couldn't find a chair in the sun. Lots of children, great pool for children but, I don't think children should be anywhere near the Las Vegas strip. The room was roomy square shaped, nice, clean, warm colors, with exceptionally great strip view from the 33rd floor. However, the doors all slam very loudly, you can hear the people in the next rooms slam the toilet seats, taking showers, and talking, not relaxing if you need some rest after walking hours on end in the sun down the strip. Thin walls and I could see the light very well from the ajoining room under the door, which is probably why I could hear them talking. The bathroom was okay, large in size, no jacuzzi tub. The bed was only comfortable enough, also the sheets were a tiny bit rough. The workers were friendly and accomadating. I wish I could say more good things about it,I looked forward to staying there.

My favorite Vegas hotel

I just returned from my stay in Las Vegas. This has been my fourth stay and by far the best. I have stayed at Flamingo, Bellagio, and Mirage (twice). All of those hotels were great, but Mandalay Bay has just blown me away!First, I love how the hotel lobby and casino are separate, which are both beautiful. The rooms were incredible with floor to ceiling windows (get a pool view, its worth it) and the bathrooms were huge with two sinks, separate tub and shower, and private toilet. The pool was gorgeous, nice foliage and fun pools, but with plenty of sun and althogh there were lots of kids (because of the wave pool and lazy river), it was very relaxing. I loved the restaurants and the night life, and I felt as though I never had to leave the hotel! I will definitely stay there again!

Must eat in....

You MUST eat in the Rum Jungle...what an experience. Get a table for about 10. pm and hang around till the music starts! You'll have a ringside view. Fabulous hotel.

First Timer to Vegas

Trying to decide where to go for our vacation was an experience in itself. I voted for Aruba, my husband Maine and we ended up in Las Vegas -- who would have guessed! We had never been to Las Vegas before, and were able to secure an $89/night rate at Mandalay Bay and went ahead and booked it. We were thrilled with everything there, loved it all!The pool area was the best -- but don't forget that everyone in the party has to bring their own key for entrance. We knew ahead of time, but others in front of us did not and were annoyed with having to go all the way back to their room for each key. Definitely worth the trip back, though, because there is nothing quite like looking up while in the wave pool and seeing the massive hotel rising into the desert sky. We used the tram to Exalibur a lot, and whenever we needed a taxi there was always one readily available. We did not each much at the hotel, because we were off exploring different ones throughout the day. The room was terrific -- we had a jacuzzi tub and spent at least two times each day soaking in it. The little goodies they give you in the bathroom were great, too, and it was fun to try all of them out. Beautiful, spacious and lovely. I think we will have a hard time staying anywhere else the next trip we make.

ve stayed at by far

mandalay bay is by far the best hotel i've stayed at in vegas. in the past 2 years i've stayed at the palms, luxor, paris and mgm, and none of them compare to mandalay bay. the bathrooms are enormous and have a seperate bath and shower, toilets have a seperate door, and the bedrooms are just as huge. we got a free upgrade to a pool view room. the windows go from ceiling to floor. also, we got a rate of $89/night that week. amazing price for what i think is the best hotel in vegas. although it's at the end of the strip, i think this is a great location if you are into nightlife. rumjungle (in the hotel) is a great club on wednesday nights, and ra (next door in the luxor) is the place on thursdays and saturdays. also, if you're a low roller like me, the $5 blackjack tables at the trop are right across the street.

I love this place.

I love Las Vegas I come twice a year. I am not a big gambler but I LOVE Las Vegas. There is such great shopping here. I always stay at Mandalay Bay , it is BEST in the summer I lay by the pool everyday, it is the best pool in Vegas. The Lazy River is Wonderfully relaxing and the Wave pool is not rough, the service by the pool is also just as great. I cant say enough wonderful things about the pool. The spa is the best I have ever been to and I have been to many. They pamper you more than any other I have been to and have a wode range of treatments. They have great entertainment and the restaurant choices are GREAT. The Rum Jungle is a great late night party place. My vote is Mandalay Bay as Best Hotel in Vegas !!

What you get for the price is a jackpot

I was very impressed with Mandalay Bay, where I stayed on a recent bachelor party. My only previous hotel experience was with Bellagio, and I want to share some comparisons between the two. Bellagio was charging over $200.00 more per night when I booked my room at Mandalay. If you want a tv in the bathroom, true luxury rooms, evening turndown service, and a location in the center of the strip, then pay the extra $$ and stay at Bellagio. Although the rooms at Mandalay Bay aren't nearly up to the standard of Bellagio, my room was quite comfortable, spacious and always clean. They even offered me an upgrade on checkin. Being on the South end of the strip, we didn't have to content with all of the "gawkers" that seem to be at Bellagio, many of whom are kids. Mandalay Bay offers a quick tram to Excalibur, that can put you in the middle of the action in a matter of minutes. When you're at Mandalay Bay, you have the feeling that you're away from the tourists. For the trendsetters, we found plenty of action at Rumjungle and Red Square. The gym at Mandalay had everything I needed from free weights to cardio equipment, and the spa was just as comfortable as Bellagio. Nice, personable staff. My only bad experiences were with one roulette dealer, and at Wolfgang Puck's Trattorio restaurant, where the service was horrible. Other than that, my experience at Mandalay Bay was great, and I can't wait to go back.

Way overrated. We stayed there 3 nights in October. Beautiful property, but the service and design are terrible. Took over 1hr to check in. Always a long wait for the elevators, then a long, long walk to our room. Long waits for valets and cabs also. Casino personel seemed like they couldn't speak English or wouldn't. Pool was very nice, but very very crowded. Would not stay there again for the $$ we paid. Spend your time and $$ further down the Strip.

Top Local Tips for Las Vegas

The Buffets All the the buffets were great. You can definalty get your moneys worth. All of the food was fantastic. Make sure you walk everywhere so you burn all of those calories.

use the monorail The strip is a long walk!! Use the monorail / train to get even half way down and walk the other half, especially if the sun is shining!

Zumanity - A great show We truly enjoyed Zumanity. Go to one of the 1/2 price tix shops either near the MGM Grand or Treasure Island to get same day seats. The best show I've seen in Vegas!
