We have stayed at the Golden Nugget 3 times in the last 2 years and each time has been great! The staff is really helpful, the spa and workout facilities are clean and really good. The price is always good to. Can't beat it! The best part is that downtown is fun and quieter than the strip when you want to relax, but close enough to go down to the strip too.

I am a recent Las Vegas visitor, but I have never stayed at the Nugget before, or elsewhere downtown, for that matter.

I was a woman travelling alone, and I had a rental car. I enjoyed nearly everything about the Nugget - nice room, quiet, really liked security personnel checking for room key before allowing access to elevators. Room was bit dark, but there was vanity table with lighted makeup mirror.
No coffeemaker - but I don't drink coffee anyway.

I stayed on a great deal with room first 2 nights for $59 (weekday) and third free - also got free slot play for being first time signup for players club - stay also included $20 Landry's gift card and two free tickets (had to pay $4.50 tax each) for Gordie Brown show - he was outstanding - both myself (age 55) and my local friend (age 37) loved his show!! At checkin I also received a coupon book - used only the two free drinks coupons and the couple of dollars off in the cafe coupon - cafe was very good - BIG menu!

It was great feeling comfortable strolling under the Fremont Experience canopy, seeing the shows, and wandering from casino to casino.

Valet service was polite and professional.
Most of the time they were very quick as well.

During this visit, I stayed at both the Nugget and the Las Vega Hilton. While I truly enjoyed my stay at the Nugget, I have to admit it was nice to move closer to the Strip, where I gambled. The Nugget has a nice casino, but the table games, which is my choice for gambling, has pretty high limits all the time. The only other negative is that the wait for checkin seemed long.

We spent a wonderful time in Vegas in your hotel that represents for us, Frenchies, the typical Las Vegas hotel ! We had the feeling that we were part of a feature movie !
We will never forget and if by any chance we come back to L.V we will certainly go back o the Golden Nugget's!

The hotel was great. Response time was short for bellmen, housekeeping, maintenance. The hotel's service was excellent. The accommodations were nice, but the shower wasn't working very well, the beds were not very comfortable, and the air conditioner too loud.....

Just returned from an excellent stay of three nights at the Golden Nugget. Classy place, as good as anything on the Strip, very clean and nicely appointed throughout, friendly staff (especially the bartenders), excellent rates and with much more to do than I expected to find Downtown, including the Fremont Street Experience right outside. The hotel is very large, taking up two square blocks, but since it's only half as big as many of the hotels on the Strip, it seems easy to navigate through the casino and the rest of the hotel. I also walked away from the gambling without breaking the bank--loose slots and it's fun to kill time with them along with the table games. I'm already anticipating a trip back there in about a month or six weeks. I can recommend the Golden Nugget to anyone.

My husband and I stayed at the Golden Nugget in May of 2002. We had a fabulous time. Sevice was excellent. We ate at each of the restraunts and were very happy with all. Especially Stefeno's. The rooms were beautiful, gambling was fun and profitable, loved the pool. The staff was friendly and helpful at all times. We will be returning within the next week and can't wait.

Based on the location, price, security, and staff, we would stay again at Golden Nugget. The rooms were clean, large and did not smell. Very nice experience. Now American West is something different. The worst airline I have every been on in my life and I travel over 100,000 miles a year! Lost my bags from Miami to Vegas, unfriendly staff, no food, and very long lines. Do youself a favor and spend a little more money on a decent flight. American West is like the airline from hell.

Downtown is really the place to go . No construction , the crowds are structured, security is topnotch if Your short of gambling money you can hang out on freemont st. its like Mardi-Gras.If you want to top it all off stay at the Nugget it has a great pool,top notch staff,clean & luxurios. Weakest point lot of new dealers.

our trip was excellent from start to finish. we had no trouble at all. everything went well, except a long wait at Atlanta for our connection to newport news back home on april 14th. but that was ok. we did not mind, because the trip as a whole was very very good and I will rate it a no 5 from the flight (delta) to the hotel (Golden Nugget).

Excellent, but scary experience

My family and I wanted to stay downtown one night for the Fremont Street Experience (I have been to Vegas 6 times, but never been downtown). We decided to stay at Golden Nugget. It was a Saturday night, the bell men wer great, check in was fast, the security at the elevators were good, and the room was very nice. However, as I went to ge my camera out of my purse, I realized it was not with me! I, naturally, freaked out. Credit cards, cash, driver's license (imperative for airport for the trip back home ), my whole family's plane tickets, a $150 camera, and other numerous personal items were inside of it. We immediately called security, as we had no idea what happened to the purse. The man, Roberto, was excellent. I have never had better customer service in my life. He did everything possible to find my purse. Roberto, knowing that I needed ID, even got another extremeley nice security persona to drive me to the police station to file a report. He even called the taxi company to see if it was turned it. Thank God, it was. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay downtown (which by the way, was great fun). Also, always get the name of your cab driver and his cab company, just in case!

We wanted to see the Fremont Street experience so we decided to keep with the Park Place hotel chain and picked to stay at the Golden Nugget. This was absolutely a big mistake. After being literally pampered at the MGM Grand, you would think the Golden Nugget would have the same service. Not in the least. The long wait at check-in was ridiculous. We stood in line for 45 minutes only to tell us that our room is not ready. Okay, we did arrive early so we went to kill some time. We came back at 3pm, stood around for another 1/2 hour only to be denied our suite again. The people in our suite were "high paying slot players" so they can check-out whenever they wanted. Mind you these people was on my time now. So we ended up getting a stinking smoking suite that was just awful. The stale smell of cigarettes took from the room so we couldn't really enjoy it. While attempting to put this little nightmare behind us, we decided to take on a little hotel room extra circular activity only to have housekeeping walk into the room! We didn't hear her knock and I don't think she did. I was furious. The front desk staff was horrible, the elevator guy was nice, the casino waitresses were few and far between. The bell staff was cool. Overall the Golden Nugget is glitzy with no glamour. For them to be in the same league and the MGM Grand they need to get it together. I will never stay there again!

The best hotel and casino. Refuse to stay any place else. It's #1 on everything. Love the offers for the $50.00 room credit to be used for various things in the hotel when arriving on Sundays through Wednesdays. We love the Friday night seafood buffet they offer. It's the greatest.

I just want to let everyone know this is an awesome hotel. The service and environment were excellent. Got a great deal on this hotel, plus free $50.00 room service when I booked this vacation. This was my second trip and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Will not be Disappointed!!

Top Local Tips for Las Vegas

Bus and trolley versus cab The city bus is called "The Deuce", they're double deckers. $5 for the whole day but you'd better not be in a hurry. Many stops and they get jammed up in traffice. It took us 2 hours to get from Harrah's to the Outlet Mall (South of Mandaly Bay)--went from the strip to the main bus terminal where we waited for 20 minutes for our transfer bus--long ride. Trolley is $6.50 for the whole day, but another long ride where ever you go. They stop everywhere so it's a good way to see the strip for the first time. They do go downtown and to the outlet mall but you have to transfer at the Stratosphere for downtown and get dropped at the Plaza. Going to the mall from downtown means a transfer at the Sphere and again near Mandaly Bay. Cab from downtown to Harrah's area is @$20 + tip depending on time of day and traffic, airport to downtown is around $30 depending on traffic. We prefer cabs---the ride itself can be entertaining ...

Pawn Shops Don't be afraid to search the Pawn shops for great jewellery. My wife & I picked up a 1.2 carat diamond for around a third of its UK value! Made a great engagement ring!!
