I really had the time of my life at the Gold Coast. I arrived at check and was greeted immediately and it took all of about two minutes to get my room keys and be on my way. My room had a wonderful view, and was very nice, clean and had all amenities that I needed. The view from my window was absolutely beautiful and the hotel services staff were the absolute greatest. They were all at your beckon call. So, I would stay there again anytime I really loved the Gold Coast, it was a wonderful trip.

Pleasant Hotel. Everything functional and then some. Meals and buffet most pleasing. Shuttle to strip a plus. Rooms are nice. One of the largest, attractive sport books around. Dealers need to be more friendly and smile. Good off the strip bargain. Rio and Palms nearby.

Cheap but little more

from A TripAdvisor Member
Its hard to believe that anyone would give this hotel five stars. It does has two positives - it is cheap, even for Las Vegas, and the food in the restaurants is generally good. Now to the negatives: long, slow check in lines; extremely small rooms with the tiniest bathroom I have ever seen; the entry door opens directly into the hall; no safes; the views are those of the casinos roof; requires a bus ride to the strip; and the casino itself is overly bright and uninviting. The gambling is much better across the street at The Palms. We won't stay there again.

great bargain, shuttle a plus!

We had a coupon for buy 2 nights get one free, so we stayed here for 80$ for three nights! The rooms resembled a super 8, not fancy but adequate. There is a shuttle that runs from the hotel to the Barbary coast(mid-strip) and also to The Orleans hotel. It is free and runs every 15 minutes. The buffet is about 9$ per person and is also very good. The waitresses were always around when gambling. The pool was small but there weren't very many people there when we went, so it was fine. Very close to The Rio and The Palms if you want to go some place close to gamble.

Gold Coast 9/16-9/19 2003

Negatives 1-Bathrooms were very small 2-Slots seemed to be tight.
3-Need to drive to anywhere else.
4-Beds were soft(I like a firm bed).

Positives 1-Free Child Care 2-Drinks were coming real fast with a $1 tip.
3-Buffet was good.
4-Check in was fast.
5-Gift shop had good prices on alcohol.
6-Free gym.

Overall the experience was better than average. Paid about 40 bucks a night. The key to the whole deal was that we had the kids with us and the free child care made the whole experience dirt cheap. Most places don't have child care and others charge $5+ an hour. For 2 Kids at 3 hours that would be $30 a day so that makes the room price dirt cheap.

I would say that if you are taking the Children then stay here for sure........If you don't have Kids along, then stay somewhere else.

good overall

Enjoyed our stay this summer for 2 nights at the Gold Coast. They have an excellent buffet there and we won at the casino where the slots seemed to be loose for Vegas. The only complaint I have is that the beds were very lumpy and was not able to sleep well. Enjoyed bowling after midnight for only 1 buck per game. Would probably stay here again. A good overall value.

Fantastic Bargain

The Gold Coast is a fantastic bargain! I cam with eight girlfriends and we enjoyed the easy access shuttles and the bed was soooo comfortable.
We had fun and saved money. What more could a person ask for if traveling on a budget?

what I always wanted

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for a week and can't wait until the next time. I went for the Bingo and would do it again and again. we found that the staff from all functions of the hotel were friendly helpful and just plain nice, unlike the bigger hotels. I have recommended it to other people and took pictures to show them. How do you spell vacation Gold Coast Hotel. Looking forward to my next trip and just wish it could be sooner. Mary H. Abosolute best hotel for the price!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
This was our first stay in Las Vegas and the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino was A #1 in our book! The rooms were very classy, clean and comfortable!! The buffet at The Port 'O Call was the best that I have ever tasted. They had every dessert imaginable!! They had everything from Fried Catfish, hushpuppies, shrimp, lasagna, beef with broccoli, fried rice, a taco bar, enchiladas, salad, fruit, and even had an awesome breakfast buffet!! Gold Coast Casino was clean, and the entertainment was...well...entertaining!! Awesome place that I will recommend to anyone, and will definately visit again! :)

The Best, Clean and Comfortable

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Gold Coast for 5 nights, middle of July 2003. Checking in was quick; staff was friendly; hotel and casino are well layed out and clean. Enjoyed meeting BillyTim and Christian, waiters in the Ports O'Call buffet, ask to be seated at one of their tables when you go.
After seeing the crowds on the Strip, it was a delight to know we were not dealing with them once we got to the Gold Coast. Local people play at the Gold Coast and they are also friendy. The bowling lanes were also a delight, as was the swimming pool and fitness center. We highly recommend this hotel.

Just Great !

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just came back from our US trip. Stayed for 5 nights in Las Vegas, i.e. the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino. It was just great. Good service, clean, good food, good entertainment. Not such a mass product as many other accomodations on the Strip. Great value for a reasonable price.

Top Local Tips for Las Vegas

Grand Canyon/Red Rock Canyon If you only do one trip it has to be the Grand Canyon, and do the full monty with flights, helicopter and boat trip etc.. Red Rock is a nice day out and you visit the Howard Hughes ranch but it does not blow you away like the Grand Canyon.

Budget Rentacar very handy Budget have a place opposite the Orleans, on Paradise. Away from the tourist hub and easy place to pick up a car. They'll pick you up from the Gold Coast

Ellis Island Rules!! Sitting just SE of the corner of Flamingo and Koval (one block East of the Strip), Ellis Island serves THE GREATEST Steak Dinner in Las Vegas. Always priced at $4.99, includes superb baked potato, fresh green beans, salad (even a Ceasar), and dinner rolls (upon request). The Steak is tremendous, cooked to your desire, and to perfection. A three day visit will find us twice dining in this establishment, and really, could have done the third also. The wait staff is phenonimal, and employee retention seems great, as we've had the same servers for years. Furthermore, while there normally is a short wait, the Casino, while small, is good, and the barbecue restaurant, while never tried, smells awesome. Give it a try, you can't go wrong.
