Nice location, but lost my pants!

Just came back from 1 week at Fitzgeralds. Comfortable room with nice view on 27th floor. Room was clean except windows and ceiling stained with cigarette smoke. Casino workers not too friendly compared to surrounding downtown casinos. I was missing one pair of blue jeans from the hangers in the closet on the second day and had to file a theft report.

Filthiest hotel I've ever been in

The room was filthy especially the bathroom.
The bed's springs almost came through the cover. The buffet restaurant was awful, my husband wouldn't even eat it and he has a strong stomach.

Downtown... great value!

My husband and I stayed at Fitzgeralds and were more than pleased with the service, friendly staff and the value. We loved the food at Limerick's Steakhouse and even caught one of the free shows in the showroom. It was "2 Gals and a Guy" and was a magic and music show and was really fun. Downtown is how I imagine Vegas used to be... we won't stay anywhere else in future trips!

I stayed at Fitzgeralds Feb 6-9. This was my first stay downtown after approximetaly 20 visits to large strip hotels. The purpose of this particular trip was simply to relax and have a good time gambling and recharging my batteries which has become increasingly hard to do on the strip because of the lines, high prices and unpleasent gambling.

I was very pleased with Fitzgeralds! The room was a bit dated but was absolutely spotless. The in room safe is also a nice convenience.

I really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of the staff as well as the other visitors. The gambling there was a blast...win or lose! It was very easy to get around the hotel and casino.

The thing I really enoyed about staying downtown was that there was the lack of long lines and long walks which can really suck the life out of you on the strip. There was also many great food values to choose from.
However, Fitzgeralds is going to have to do something to offer better quality mainstream food to round out the property.

Bottom line- Fitzgeralds is a fantastic downtown hotel and I can't wait to go back.

My husband and I came to Las Vegas Oct. 2003. It was a belated honeymoon trip. We stayed at Fitzgeralds and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The front desk staff were very, very friendly. They gave us an upper floor room as they knew that we would like a view. The room was very nice, spacious and clean. Very comfortable. The only thing I would add to the rooms is a coffee pot. They come in handy when you have to have your coffee in the am. The view was beautiful and right on the downtown shops and casinos. Thank you Fitzgeralds for a wonderful trip.

With a Fitz's comp card you get reduced room rates, cash back and build up comp dollars to use for other purchases. Have stayed at most of the Downtown hotels, and The Fitz rates right up there, for the price.
Andres, a sportsbook bartender is great. It's fun when you walk up to the bar and he remembers who you are from the last trip. If he tries to give you betting tips, bet the opposite. I have stayed there at least 10 times, and the only misfortune I had was, one time, only 2 of the 4 elevators, were operable for a day or so. I will continue to return, unless they quit honoring the comp card and it's benifits.

My nephew had referred The Fitz. to us, we usually stay at the GN, the weekend we were there, last weekend in August, 2003. we could of stayed at GN for the same price, but wanted to try something different. The only reason we didn't leave after the first night(besides being to lazy to pack) was because the hotel maids on the 21st floor were THE BEST! I wish I could remember their names, but they were superb and knew their job from the floor up! Not only did they greet us as we passed in the halls in the A.M."s the asked us if we had any special requests! We did talk with a couple of the bartenders and they were cool too. We really didn't ask for any service, but everyone was kind. I think we just like the plushness of the GN and I like the security at the elevators at the GN made me feel 'safe' when I came down stairs to play the slots w/o my husband. Elevators at the Fitz. could be scary at times, they say 11 passengers, but when we were there, it seemed like many more tried to squeeze on. Yikes! The entertainment that weekend was excellent,only(the comic Wild Bill)made some inappropriate coments about New Yorkers and 9-11, which insulted a few people who ended up walking out, we did too, and we are'nt even from NY. They did have a sax player/group 1 black man and 1 white man that were totally hot ,I don't think they are there now, I didn't see them on the ent. list for the Fitz. I think the Fitz. was ok but if the GN offers the same price I'd stay there in a heart beat! We did have a great view on floor 21 though, I think the housekeepers forgot to clean the window though. ... Slots were tight I blew alot on the wheel of fortune the first night quarters, previously I had won big there. go figure.

My wife and I usually stay on the strip, but this last time we decided to stay in "Old Town" for a change, Dec. 6th - 9th 2003. Fitzgeralds was recommended to us, so we decided to stay at Fitzgeralds to check it out.

From the time we arrived at Fitzgeralds, we found that the service by all the hotel staff was excellent, from the people in valet parking, the Bell Captain, the front desk clerk and even the Manager On Duty who greeted us.

The room and bathroom was clean 100%, and the maid service was very punctual every morning at about 10AM on our floor ... The changed the sheets and cleaned the bathroom everyday.

If you want a nice corner room with a nice view, ask for room #1942 on the 19th floor. Nice view of the end of the strip and also of the mountain range.

Contrary to what others have written, everytime we summoned the elevator, it was there within a minute or two at the most.

Limericks Resturaunt in the hotel was excellent, the food was cooked just as we ordered it , prime rib and their specialty chicken, and was served in a reasonable time without any long wait time even though it was busy.

The waitresses that made the rounds we punctual, and they seem come around about every 10-15 minutes without fail. I was impressed, because I was drinking Bud, and every time around, the waitress asked if I would care for another Bud.

We are slot players, and it seems that Fitzgerald's is the place for the loose slots in Old Town.

Would we go back again - YES, FOR SURE Would we recommend it - YES, FOR SURE

People complain in their reviews about the bands on Freemont Street. It is unfair, because the ones who write a bad review DO NOT tell you that one stage is in the alley right beside the hotel. OF COURSE YOU WILL HEAR THE MUSIC !!!! The bands only play until 11-12 PM, and most of us are still up at that time. If you are the type that goes to bed at 9 PM, Freemont Street is not for you.

For the best deal in "LAS VEGAS" - FITZGERALD's We'll never go back to the strip ..........

Very bad experience

Just returned from a 2 week stay in Vegas. I usually stay at the Golden Nugget but this trip I decided to try to save some money (usually my employer is paying but this trip was on me). I had an offer from Fitzgeralds for 3 nights free so I decided to take them up on it. This was the first time I have stayed there. I was in room 1824. Room looked nice at first but soon started finding problems. Noise from Fremont Street Experience and other Bands playing on Fremont Street was unbelievable! I could hardly hear the TV over the noise. Air Conditioner/Heater was very noisy. Toilet wouldn't flush most of the time. Even though I was on the 18th floor, I had a very strong smell of cooking food from the restaurants on the second floor. Parking garage was sort of scary! If I ever did try it again, I would defiantly want a different room! On the plus side, I love their Casino! The great thing about Downtown is you can stay at any of several Hotels and it is a short walk to any of the Fremont Street Casino's. I definitely prefer Downtown to the Strip.

My family and I have been part time residents of Vegas for A LONG time!
I was married out there and we go out at least 3 times a year. My favorite place to stay and gamble WAS at Fitzgeralds. We were very happy with service, comps and rooms. The last time I was at "The Fitz" Mr O'Lucky was no longer there to rub and I had a the only cocktail waitress that I seen argue with me and poke me with her pen when I tried order two drinks. (one of them for my 78 year old grandfather) What kind of service is that??? Along with the new comp system put into place, I will unfortunatly not be going back when I return to Las Vegas.

I think your reaction to this place will depend on what you pay. It can be insanely cheap here. Fitzgerald's is a giant high rise hotel on Fremont St. in a wonderfully fun location that's a little more realistic that the Strip. There are no super-fancy stores here but the street is covered and pedestrian only with lots of other kind of retro high rise hotel and casinos. I found it very refreshing as an alternative to the major crowds and needless expensive of the Strip.
There's a light show every night.

The hotel is clean and the rooms are what you'd expect from a 3 star hotel. You may wait a bit to check in but nothing like the monster lines at the places on the Strip. You may be a bit aggravated by the elevator wait. Beyond that, I was pretty happy and would certainly stay again (and I have).

My husband and I go to Vegas every year. We stay on the strip for a few days and then down town for a couple more. We just love the Fitzgerald's. The location is great. The light show is there and Limerick's Steakhouse is a must try if you stay at Fitzgerald's.
AWESOME! The rooms are tidy and spacious and the staff is pleasant.
Best of all it's economical.

Top Local Tips for Las Vegas

noise go to Walgreen's and buy an inexpensive pair of ear plugs--solves the Fremont noise and that of noisy neighbor's partying.

Don't pay full box office prices for shows and attractions If you're staying downtown on Fremont, there is a discount ticket broker at Four Queens. They have tickets available at up to 1/2 the box office price. Also look in the freebie magazines available in the hotel lobbies and you will find coupons that will save you $2 off their service charge of $4 per ticket. They even have 1/2 price tickets for the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton.
