A Let down!

Stayed 3 nites around Easter with husband and 2 teenagers. The room was motel-ish with no in-room coffee maker, and no bathtub. Shower only! The tv was really small, also. The wait at the elevator was always long. The pool closes at 7PM - too early. And the jacuzzi was always FULL of toddlers and little kids!!My husband got food poisoning on the last day!! And there were dirty trays and dishes in the hallways - evidence of room service that stayed for the whole day with no one picking up the dirty dishes! It was a very cheap motel feeling, not any feeling of luxury or relaxing accomodations. We have stayed at the Mandalay Bay before and it is nicer. We may try Bellagio next time. Would not recommend Excalibur to anyone. Even with kids. You may want to take your kids to the arcade there, but stay somewhere else!!!
More dungeon than castle

We went in with great expectations - that's all I can say. The pictures look great. However, the standard room is kind of a cheap motel dive. No bath tub, shower only. Windows that only open an inch because they have NAILS in them. No fitted bottom sheet? We asked, they said they don't have them, so we had the sheet chronically untucked which is gross, because you end up touching the mattress when you inadvertently/inevitably move at night. . . Food at the Round Table is horrible. If you don't have kids, beware, the place is crawling with them. The hotel doesn't have great promotions, no drink promos, no great coupon deals . . . We checked out Tropicana, NY/NY, Bellagio, Venetian, MGM, Mandelay Bay, Luxor, Stratosphere - they were ALL nicer. As my grandma once said, "Ya buy cheap, ya get cheap."
Good place for children

I stayed at the Excalibur when I was really young, and it was so much fun. Now that I am older and can compare the hotels, Excalibur was my favorite. It had so much to do, and so much to see. I reccommend it to people with children, because it is a great, entertaining hotel. The jousting show is really great, if they still have it.
Love It

Love the King Arthur theme and the loose slots. The rooms are great and the King Arthur Mediefal Feast is the best. Where else can you eat dinner with your fingers and no one slaps you!!!

My husband and I visit Las Vegas last month. Our visit was wonderful. The Hotel was great, and their hospitality was above and beyond great. They are so wonderful. Our rooms were cleaned and any questions asked, no problem. The food was fabulous. When ever we go to vegas we know we will be in good hands, with the people at the Excalibur Hotel.
not very cheerful

September 2002 -- This was our 3rd trip to Vegas and the Excalibur has only one thing going for it and that is it's position. There were extremely long lines just to check in and the people checking you in couldn't have cared less and the whole place is just so impersonal. The swimming pool was just about the tackiest you could imagine, pool bar closed half the time and half the pool closed for cleaning from about 4pm -- the pool itsself wasn't even 3ft deep !!. I Don't think we would want to go back there at any price......
Enjoyed our 20th

My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at the Excalibur in a jacuzzi tub room. We had an excellent view of Las Vegas and the Strip. The Tournament of the Kings was a wonderful and exciting dinner show. Check-in was a horror. We waited in line for close to an hour to check in. They have a "King's Window--express check-in for credit card reservations only. Call 1-800-753-9773 at least an hour before planned arrivial. Go to King's Window, no waiting, no fuss, no muss. If we had known we would not have had to wait at check-in. Our room was clean and comfortable. They have a conserve to preserve policy with towels and bedlinen. Housekeeping will not change bed clothes or give clean bath towels unless requested. Our housekeeper, Nancy, refused to change our bed linen. I didn't mind the first night, but requested in writing for the linen to be changed and it was not done. Needless to say our last night's stay at the Excalibur was unpleasant. I called the front desk and was transferred twice and was finally told at midnight that someone would finally change our bed clothes. It should have been done in the morning when first requested. The major drawback to the rooms at Excalibur is that there are no in room safes. Therefore, all important items needed to be carried around. I would recommend the Excalibur to someone who wanted to have fun at a wonderful price. Just use the express chink-in.
Great place for families

I, my wife and 2 children stayed at Excaliber last July. The room was clean and offered a great view of the Strip. The staff were friendly and courteous. The pool was a little less than expected, but at $45.00 a night you cannot go wrong.
Would not even bother!!!

Stayed in the Excalibur for a week in March 2002, found the hotel outdated and in need of a fresh coat of paint! Out of all the other hotels on the strip found this to be disapointing! Although slightly cheaper it is worth paying a little extra. The hall area leading to all the rooms were stuffy and smelt of damp. The room was alright although the walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbour Pee!!!!. I recommend if you do stay here not to use the buffet as Luxor was 100% better for a couple of $ extra. The pool area was very very disapointing!! Although if you have kids it is a good cheap place to stay!
Excalibur Hotel

Just a heads up for travelers who plan to stay at the Excalibur hotel. Being a meeting planner who does a fair amount of travel, I have some concerns about the safety and security of the Excalibur. Upon check-in (I was traveling alone) my room number was verbally announced. This is a no-no in the hospitality business. The norm in most hotels is to point to the room number on the hotel information you are being handed so that no one standing near you will know your room number and see that you are apparently traveling alone. Trying to be helpful, I called the manager on duty to report my concerns and hope that the employee would be corrected. This was not done. The manager did not see anything wrong with what was done. Her thinking is that since the hotel posts a guard at the casino level of the elevators to the guest rooms, and since guests need to show their key to access the elevators to the rooms, there is no problem. Well the flaw in this thinking is that I am sure that it is simple to hold onto a key after you check-out and simply show it to the guard. Easy access to the guest room level. The rooms themself do have a deadbolt but do not have the extra safety lock at the top of the door that every other hotel I have stayed in provide. As to the room itself, the air conditioning is angled at such a way that the curtains billow out and all of the cool air goes between the window and the curtains, thus triggering the a/c to shut off even though the rest of the room is still warm. This can be remedied by the traveler by placing a book against the curtains to hold them against the window. A final note, the hotel has a bottle of water in each room that the guest can take and have charged to their room bill. Upon arriving home, I found a charge on my credit card for a bottle of water that I know I did not take. The charge did not appear at express check-out so there is really no way to dispute it a month after the fact (use desk check-out). And after my experience while on-site with the manager, I have little expectation of a positive outcome had I chosen to call and dispute the charge.
Top Local Tips for Las Vegas
The Duece Bus
The Duece bus costs $5 for 24 hours and takes you anywhere on the strip and there are loads of em' with plenty of stops.
So much to do!
If you are going to go to one of the bigger events, like a Cirque du Soleil show, then book in advance! It's often cheaper than last minute, and these are fantastic shows that sell out. "Love" is so amazing even if you are not a Beatles fan! As for getting around, if you stay on the Strip most everything is a 20 minute walk at max, but there is a bus that runs every 15 mins up and down the Strip for when you're hard pressed or tired. Also taxi's are every where, but around 4-7 they get busy so factor that into your time frame
$20
Try putting a $20 between your credit card and ID and ask for a complimentary upgrade it works more often than not especially at Excalibur
