Avoid the Taxis!!!! Stay away from taxis, if you can. We took taxis from and to the airport, and, boy, did they take us for a ride! They will hop on the highway everytime to get that extra, roundabout distance on the meter! When arriving and departing, look into shuttles-- many hotels offer this service for a low price. For getting around town; be sure to get a map of Vegas, inlcuding the Monorail system. It was built as an afterthought, so there's still some walking to get to the stations, depending on where you're staying. But it's definitely a better alternative than shelling out good money on a taxi. The only time it may be absolutely neccessary is to travel between old downtown and the strip.
