An Oasis

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Blue Moon is an oasis for the gay travler, the friendly staff makes sure all your needs are well taken care of. They even offer to send a car to pick up all your favorite ingredients needed for an intoxicating liabation. This allows you to sit back and soak in the rays by the pool with or without a bathing suit!

Great accommodations, great staff, lots of fun

Just got back from four days at the wonderful Blue Moon Resort. It was my first trip to Vegas, and the resort was perfect - no straight couples with kids, off the beaten path, and loads of ammenites that appealed to me. The staff was super friendly and the property is great - hot tub, pool with waterfall, video (sex) room and a stenum

Very Friendly, Spruced Up, Sexual Energy if you want it

My partner and I usually stay in 5-star spa & resorts. The town was sold out for 3 nights, so we tried this gay hotel, who called us back when a cancellation opened up. Everyone on the staff was so friendly thru the whole stay, and extremely professional. The owners have put a lot of money into fixing up the rooms, retiling bathrooms, fresh paint, tile, carpets, nice furniture...it's better than what you'd think a gay hotel would have. We felt at ease leaving our room in a towel, heading to the office, steam room, snack bar, pool, jacuzzi, or poking our head into the video room to see who was there and what was going on. Six channels of video run 24/7 on the house cable system, four gay porn and two gay features. My partner, the more fastidious of the two of us, is just not a bathhouse guy, but he tells our friends it's a great place with sleaze available if you want it but that's not in your face. The parking lot is very well lit; we didn't worry about our car parked outside. The hotel is very close to the I-15 and Sahara exit, which made it easy to get around the city. I'm sure we'll go back, as it was relaxing and fun.

Great Place

Had a great visit at the Blue Moon last weekend - The thing that really sets this place apart is the staff. I was in town for a conference and we stayed in the Venetian Hotel - a five star on the strip. Afterwards I moved over to the Blue Moon. I have to say that the attention and desire to make sure I had a great visit was far far more evident at the Blue Moon. Of course these Hotels are worlds apart but for the money give me the Blue Moon any day.

OK- But basically a bath house with sheets

My boyfriend and I went for a quick weekend to this place. Truly nice staff, we had a car so the location wasnt a problem, but those that had no car, beware, its $10 to get anywhere. The hotel is cruisy of course, but the location is really awful. Your on top of a highway and far from the strip. I dont think the neighborhood is that great to be honest. The hotel is cute, but the food stand prices are outrageous considering the cheap prices in Vegas. If your in Vegas to Gamble, stay elsewhere, cause its a long trip home. Gay or not Gay, Ill pass on this Blue Moon next time.

Not worth the money

First, I do compliment the staff. They were extremely warm and friendly. Having said that, I wish the staff and the hotel well. I will not stay here again. Unless you have a car, better think twice about the location. Looking at a map, the hotel sits just behind Circus Circus, but you can't just walk off the strip. Walking back (espeically at night) is like walking through a maze, and the neighborhood is scary after dark. Even a strong walker such as myself found this hotel just to far from the strip to deal with. The property does not look much like the brochure discription. In fact I thought I had arrived at the wrong location. There is food, so you won't starve, but why bother, when you can have a buffet on the strip for less. The hotel is not cheap, If you are looking for a bargain room, try somewhere in the same time zone as the Strip. If you want a nice room, just pay for a location on the strip. If you want a bathhouse there is one nearbly anyway. Be prepared to tell taxi drivers how to get to the location, as they problably won't know how to get there. The other quests seemed nice enough, but most stay to themselves or arrive as couples. The steam room is really nice, though when I was there, it was rarely used. Sorry, but if you have been to the resorts in West Hollywood, Key West, Palm Springs, just remember, this is not one of those. I say if you are coming to enjoy Las Vegas, stay on the strip.

Blue Moon = Great Service

from A TripAdvisor Member
I have stayed at the Blue Moon on three separate occasions and each time has been an excellent stay. Of course, I was not expecting the Ritz Carlton when I arrived. The staff has always been helpful and interested in making sure my stay was enjoyable. The highway noise goes virtually unnoticed. The grounds, rooms and common areas have always been well maintained and very clean. Regardless of where I go I always have a rental car so the issue of location is not really an obstacle. Besides, I think the other gentleman resolved the issue for anyone who is not interested in getting a car rental, going by way of Palace transportation. I have shown up at the pool for both action and non-action agenda's and either way it has always been what I wanted. If I want to just relax by the pool, it is certainly doable. If I want to hook up, that has not been a problem either. I would definitely stay at the Blue Moon every time I am in Las Vegas if it was not for the convenience of the spa when staying at the Luxor. Which by the way, I think the rooms at Blue Moon are far more clean than either the Luxor, Mirage, Rio, Hard Rock or Caeser's even though I don't mind staying at any one of them. If there was something that I HAD to say needed improvement...I would like more comfortable pool furniture. But then again, I would just like to move a bed out next to the pool. Mike

Nice place in the wrong city

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Blue Moon was nice but didn't fit in with the whole Las Vegas experience. Yes it is a remodeled motel right next to a super highway, but they did a real nice job with refurbishing the place. It has all the typical "gay" amenities. Real nice steam room and video/sex room. So if you go without any while you are there it is your own fault. Nice pool and Jacuzzi but the pool was not warm. Problem is it just doesn't fit in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is all about the glitz and glitter of the"strip" and the Blue Moon is way off the strip, and a $5 per person cab ride every time you head to the "strip". Going to Las Vegas and staying at the Blue Moon is like going to Disney World and staying at a Motel 6 outside of the park.

but has its Problems

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Blue Moon is first of all WAY OFF the beaten path from Vegas Life (The Strip, Attractions, Shows) If you don't have a car, you are basically LOST. Suggestion: Walk up to the Palace Station Hotel and Casino and take their free shuttle to the strip. I took it for my ENTIRE stay at the Blue Moon....it will leave you off at TWO places along the strip and you can take it back AT THOSE PLACES when returning. They never ask for any ID of anykind.....and the info. desk at the Palace Station said I could take it anyway. The cab driver for the BLUE MOON, Derek, is a nice guy. But I can't see spending $20.00 round trip to the strip when you can take the Palace Station Shuttle for free....make sure you get their free schedule! I think that the Blue Moon is rather over-priced. If I had to do it again I might stay at the Palace Station for $29 a night and get a $15 day pass for the Blue Moon. You can use the pool, "play room", etc. I think they need to adjust their prices if they want to get more business. Just about everybody I met complained about the prices for a stay there. I was rather shocked that on two nights I actually saw a GIRL (yes....a REAL FEMALE) in the pool at night with her friends. That REALLY should not have been at at ALL MALE resort. The crowd is mixed....I saw a lot of locals returning during my stay using their $15 day pass.....and noiced that "friends" of the owners (I presume) seem to be allowed in during the night hours. The pool is quite nice.....open 24 hours unlike the hotel-casino pools. But I must warn you again: this place is NO WHERE NEAR THE VEGAS ACTION.....Also: there really are NO places to eat in the area of the Blue Moon. Don't waste your time at the Artisan Hotel down the block: I did NOT like the food at all. You really have to walk up to the Palace Station Casino-Hotel to eat in the cafe or the buffet.....or spend the day out on the strip etc. to eat. Suggestions to the owners: LOWER YOUR RATES and PROVIDE FREE or LOW COST SHUTTLE SERVICE TO THE STIP. The $10 one way to the strip is just too much and can add up big-time.....REMEMBER: take the FREE Palace Station Hotel-Casino Shuttle......it is not really that far WALKING DISTANCE from the Blue Moon.

BLUE MOON IS HOT FUN

Only been home for less than 24 hours and already I have received a lot of emails and IM's asking me "how was Las Vegas?". My reply is that "on a scale of 1 to 10, the trip was an 11". Of course the Highlight (and the reason for going was to see ELTON JOH's - The Red Piano at the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace. I stayed the first 3 days in Las Vegas at the Venetion and then 5 days at the Blue Moon. If I had to do it again, I would just skip the Venetion. Granted, the Venetion was a nice place but it didn't have the same community atmosphere that the BLUE MOON has. The entire staff was terrific and very accomaditing. Derrick who drove me there is a great guy as well. Already I am making plans to come back to see Elton John again and when I get the tickets I want, I will be calling the BLUE MOON for reservations as well. If I ever need a place to get away to, I know where to find it. It is called the BLUE MOON

Top Local Tips for Las Vegas

special places in vegas not to be missed! madam tussard's at venetian, auto display at imperial palace, Mystere (cirque de soleil at treasure island), hawaiian plate lunch (teriyaki chicken) in mezzanine hawaiian restaurant at california hotel downtown.

Use the bus!! Las Vegas is spred out- use public transportation, very affordable.

The Buses If you take a local East/West bus, the fare for 24 hours is $2.50. You can then pay an additional $.50 to use the Deuce bus on the strip. If you take the strip bus i'ts $5. for 24 hours. However, even your 80 year old granny can walk faster than the duece bus. It takes FOREVER for them to load at each stop. It's pretty pitiful really.
