We enjoyed our stay at Barbara Coast very much the three times we have stayed there. The hotel is very comfortable and quite and I enjoyed very much receiving the newspaper on my door every morning. No other hotel in Las Vegas does that without being asked to. Class Act!

OK, would stay there again

from Dubontheroad
I'd agree with what most reviewers said. Great location. Excellent price - 23 euro a night! Huge rooms with excellent views. Tight security. Food wasnt the best. Lazy staff. Free parking. All in all would stay there again.

Barbery Coast , OK but nothing special.

I went to vegas from 5/25 to 5/30 and stayed at the Barbary Coast. It was good but there were s few problems. First was the food I had to send a meal back because it was cold! There was no problem but I should not have had to do that, this tells me that the food is pre cooked and micro waved, not cooked when ordered! The staff was very helpful and friendly with the acception on one bar tender who was a bit rude. The room was adaquate but nothing special, it was clean but the maid service was not the best as it seemed to take most of the day to make up my room. This was not very good as I was uaually out of my room by no later then 9AM, and when I would come back at say noon or 1PM it was still not made up! When in Vegas last December I stayed at Ceasars Palace and I thought it was much better! I will probably go back to Vegas at some point but will probably stay some place other then the Barbary Coast.

Thoroughly recommend

I was very pleasantly surprised by the Barbary Coast. I knew the location was excellent, but did not realise that the rooms would be so large and comfortable. It was like an oasis - one could escape the heat or the crowds and completely revive in a room full of old world atmosphere but completely modern - at the same time. It was a bonus to be able to open the bathroom window. Thoroughly recommend the T Bone steak/rib dinner deal - worth the wait. Would stay again for sure.

Barbaric Coast

The man who checked us in gave us trouble because the addresses on our IDs didn’t match our physical address. My husband is in the military. We are legal residents of Florida, but live in Utah. We have FL licenses, vote there, etc. This is not that unusual! Esp. for military people. The clerk acted like we were criminals. After jumping through hoops, the guy finally “let” us check in, but cautioned us that we couldn’t win any jackpots at their casino, because they wouldn’t pay us the $$ because of our addresses. My husband has stayed several different places in LV and never had problems with this – except at Barbary. I was with him at Sahara last year, and there were no probs with the addresses there. I won money at Sahara and they paid me. Anyway: The problems continued when we got to the room. We reserved a non-smoking King-bed room but got a smoking two double-bed room. We had a “view” of a side of the Flamingo hotel. The AC was weak, so the room was always too hot. The quilts on the beds were threadbare and the furniture was beat up. When I turned down the covers, there were long black hairs on the underside of the quilt. One afternoon we put the “Do Not Disturb” card in our door and tried to take a nap. After ½ hour, housekeeping called us, insisting they needed to clean the room within the next 2 hours. What’s the point of having a "Do Not Disturb" sign if they’ll just ignore it and call you on the phone, waking you up? We did not like the Barbary Coast at all and would definitely not stay there again. We forfeited our last night, knowing we wouldn’t get our $$ back.

in Vegas

This little hotel/casino certainly surprised us! Located on the Strip and surrounded by the Flamingo, Ceasars, Bally's and a clear view of the Bellagio dancing fountains, we found the rooms were extremely spacious, clean and quiet (btw, there *are* ironing boards and irons in the rooms, even in the rooms our friends were staying.) We've stayed at the big resorts like the Mirage and the Flamingo, however, the rooms at the Barbary Coast can hang in there with the best of 'em at a fraction of the cost. The smaller casino maintains initimacy and you don't need a map to navigate your way around the place or back to your room (like at Ceasars...way too big!) Before, we had figured the Barbary Coast to be dank, dark and dingy...a super old casino that reeked of cigarette smoke and the walls discolored with nicotine, but nothing could be further from the truth. It was bright and lively with a western/victorian theme. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The photos you see on the internet are true to what the rooms really do look like...no airbrushing or photo trickery. The free parking was patrolled by a security guard and easy to get in and out of. Overall, we are very pleased to have found this gem of a hotel and will stay there again!

Best Kept Secret In Vegas!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We just returned from Vegas and a four night stay at the Barbary Coast. Our room was lovely....decorated in a tasteful Victorian style with a sectioned off sitting area. The room was large and clean, the bed comfortable, and we had a fantastic view of Paris's Eiffel Tower and Bellagio's Fountain Show. Security was great too. A security truck constantly patrols the parking garage, so we were never nervous about arriving back late at night. In the evenings, a guard is stationed by the elevators, so only hotel guests may go up. The first night, some drunken kids were yelling and running up and down the hall. Within minutes, security was up on our floor and the disturbance quieted. Overall, we were very impressed by the quality of this hotel and would stay there again in a heartbeat! The Victorian Room was a little disappointing (slow service and mediocre menu), but you're so close to all the other hotels, finding a place to dine should be no problem. Upon check in, take advantage of the Fun Club packet they give you. There really are some great deals in there! Have fun!

Best Value in Vegas!!!

from WindsorTraveller
Stayed at the Barbary Coast for a week. Very pleasant, I was attending a conference at the Flamingo and some of my friends who stayed at the Flamingo came over and couldn't believe the beautiful room we had at the Barbary Coast for less money. This is probably the best value in Vegas because of its location at the heart of the strip. The rooms are spacious, decorated in a Victorian theme which is a nice touch away from 'Hotel/Hotel', and they offer free parking as an added bonus.
We'll be back!

Very Unfriendly Staff!!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We never stayed at Barbary Coast Hotel, and we are probably glad we didn't, if the Hotel staff is anything like the Casino Staff. We were in the Casino around 10:00 pm and it was a little busy, my wife and I wanted to play some 3 Card Poker. There were 2 spots open at one of the 3 Card Poker tables. But only one chair. The Black Jack table next to it only had 3 players at ti, so I was going to use one of the chairs from it. I was told if I wanted to play 3 Card Poker either me or my wife would have to stand. That we couldn?t use the chairs from the Black Jack table. We were told Black Jack is more important than 3 Card Poker, in a very rude manor. Ironically We were in there that morning, and I had a cramp in my leg, and wanted to stand for a few hands, and was told I would have to sit if I wanted to play. I guess they make up the rules as they go to fit what they want. I asked to talk to a Pit Boss, and when I asked him, He told me if I wanted to play I would have to stand, and was very rude when he told me. We left then and never plan on going back there!!!!

Loved the Barbary Coast, but eat somewhere else

from A TripAdvisor Member
The rooms at the Barbary Coast were great, very spacious and clean. You are right in the middle of it all. But don't eat here, go somewhere else, we ate at the Victorian Room and the food was really mediocre and the service was horrible, but didn't ruin our stay, there is so much else to choose from that is so close, we ate other places.

Wonderful Time At The Barbary

Visited Las Vegas in September, stayed at the Barbary. Rooms very clean, great location. Will be going back next year and will stay at Barbary again.

Top Local Tips for Las Vegas

PARIS We really liked the PARIS hotel. The buffet breakfast was brilliant, although there was a bit of a wait. Although it was OK, I wouldn't recommend the PARIS Eiffel tower trip. We went to the top of the Stratosphere, which was much much better (incidentally, we paid an extra $10 to jump the queue at the Stratosphere, which was well worth it). The Eiffel tower is quite small at the top and the views just OK really - not expensive, but not really worth the money. Another tip: go to Fremont Street on Fri or Sat as we were told it's more lively then. We went on a Sunday and was fairly quiet.

Vegas on a budget If you're on a budget or just looking for something different than the glitzy, over priced hotel casinos and bars, hop on the bus and head to Slots-o-Fun, next to Circus-Circus. Cheap drinks, cheap tables, and loose slot machines! Can't go wrong..

Big Al's Check out Big Al's in the Orleans for some yummy seafood!
