1st timers to Las Vegas. Paid extra upgrade price for run down dirty hotel suite. Changed rooms but still had to put up with dirty carpets, sink backup, curtian falling down ,dirty window view, furnishing very scratched & bad beds. When we paid for an upgrade all we expected was value for our money and a clean room. What a terrible disappointment instead. Baily's is run down throughout the whole building. Hotel desk staff I feel don't have time or proper training in customer service. Don't stay here Please for your sake. Thanks, Peace ....

I would not stay at this hotel ever again, and can only tell you to think twice before booking with any Harrah's property-

My outdated room with worn out stained carpet also had a very large ugly visible stain on the ceiling in the bathroom. On the last night when I was getting ready for dinner out with friends - while sitting on the 'throne', brown water dripped down on my head and back. I looked up to see the ceiling was bulging like a balloon of water. The brown water was most likely sewage from an overflowing toilet in the room above us. I called the hotel operator who sent a plumber. The plumber said he had to move us to another room. This would have made us late for our dinner reservations with friends so I said we'd have to deal with moving us when we got back from dinner. A few hours later, we came back from dinner and I went immediately to front desk. The plumber had not notified the desk of bathroom disaster. Front desk clerk did not care about the sewage, nor the mess, nor the hassle that their hotel's negligence in maintaining their property caused us. The hotel manager would only offer us a $25 voucher for dinner, which was pointless - We had already eaten and It was close to 10pm, on our last night, we had to check out by 4am that morning to catch flight. When the bellhop moved us to a new room I told him to tell the rude front desk clerk how bad the bathroom was, the clerk said it was "no big deal".

Just unbelievable rude uncaring staff. I'm left with an overwhelming dislike for this disaster of an accommodation. If your reading this - and are thinking about staying here don't!

By the way - what kind of stupid hotel closes their pool at 7pm?

I have now made 10 visits to Ballys. Still my favoured LV hotel. Consistently good all round, price, value, wonderful food and prime location. Well done Ballys & Best Wishes.

Good value but gamble downtown

from A TripAdvisor Member
The attraction of Ballys is basically two-fold: First, it is located in the middle of the strip, and second, it is dirt cheap. The hotel itself is a re-modled older property -- which means the rooms are OK but nothing special. Honestly, though, most Vagas hotel rooms are pretty much the same. Also, the hotel isn't really themed -- so it is much smaller and less spectacular than many of the other properties on the strip. The casino is very average -- I would not gamble here (I do most of my gambling downtown as the odds are better) but the fact that it is connected to the Paris hotel is really nice. The casino also gave us an EXCELLENT funbook with several matching bets on table games (I won $80.00 at blackjack using the coupon). The other suprisingly good part of the hotel is the pool area. The larger pool is suitable for lap swimming and there is a smaller hot-tub area as well. Food and drink service were also available at the pool and lounge chairs were available everytime we went.Overall, an excellent choice for those on a budget.

s was the best, and this is coming from a teen

from Vancouver18
Ballys was awesome! I went there July 2002 for a week with my aunt, who took me for my birthday. It was our first time being there and we were both impressed. We got an excellent room with a view of the Bellagio fountains, and were basically right next to the Eifel tower at Paris. We were so close to it in fact, we could see the people going up in the elevators. Our room also had a good view of Paris' pool, and i spent a lot of time watching the fountains and the people going up the tower. At night, bellagio plays music with the fountains, and it is something. We ate at the buffet, and that was really good. We also ate at sbarro's, the deli and the japanese restaurant, and those were all really good. For kids, there are stores and arcades to look at, and i also found it fun to go to the other hotels and look around, and get out of the heat. If you are looking for a good show to go to an want it cheap, go to viva las vegas at the stratosphere. It is comedy, magic and even showgirls all in one, and for $12.95, you get a free lunch buffet, and a huge drink in one of those special glasses that is shaped like the stratosphere. So, if you have teenagers and are looking for a place, bally's is the one. I turned 15 there on the day I left, and it was the best week of my life, and im planning on going back soon.

The best ever

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at this hotel in September 2003 for a business conference. My office had no trouble finding a reasonable rate online and booking my room. When we arrived, our room was not ready so we were upgraded at no cost to us to a penthouse suite with balcony overlooking Bellagio's magnificent water show. I can't say enough about how great the room was. Spotless every day I arrived back from the conference. Tastefully decorated. And the bed was almost as good as home. I will definately return to Bally's when I make it back to Las Vegas.

My husband and I go to Vegas once a year and stay in different hotels each time. This year we stayed at Bally's and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was large and nicely decorated and had a safe in the closet. We could surf the internet via the TV, but unfortunately we couldn't get it to connect. What we liked the best about this hotel is it was very easy to find the elevators and exits (most hotels are like a maze). The 24 hour cafe has excellent food at a reasonable price. We've stayed at Luxor, Rio, MGM and Excalibur and we feel that Bally's is a great value and you just can't beat the central location on the strip and it connects to Paris.

Great Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
Great hotel. We stayed there last week. The staff was great and very helpful. The slots there are tight. Didn't even win a dime. Looser slots at other casinos. Check-in was great at the airport, check-out was awful at hotel. Long lines.

Great Location

from A TripAdvisor Member
I have been to Vegas three times and have always stayed at Bally's. The location, restaurants, and casino are great and not over crowded. I've always gotten a room in the south tower with a great view. Jubillee is definitely a must see! I've seen it twice and you must get a seat up front so that you don't miss a thing! For the money, everytime I visit Vegas I will be staying at Bally's. I am definitely a loyal customer!

Rude, rude, rude

from A TripAdvisor Member
Tried to check in at airport to save time. Had asked for a room on a high up floor with nice view. Rep must have intentionally assigned us a crummy room. Said she couldn't give us keys as "machine" was down, so we had to stand in line again at the hotel only to be insulted by a rude, smart alec at the desk who must have assumed that we had never been to Vegas before (my third time). Got up to room, and found it was as far down the hall as possible from the elevator, and facing a parking deck at the back of the hotel. Called the desk and then went back downstairs and went through the whole waiting thing again. So, from having to stand in line to check in at the airport, and twice at the hotel to get a decent room, it took a good two hours to finally get into the room. Rooms are a nice size, but nothing special. Went to see Jubilee our last night as it is in the hotel. Paid full price for the tickets. Pretty good show, but definitely not worth $62 per ticket. Won't stay at Bally's again due to disinterested rep at airport and RUDE guy at check-in desk.

s...Good Place to Stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
Never stayed at Bally's before but we had a good experience. We checked in at the airport which was easy and very convenient. Our room was clean and neat and was kept that way during our stay. People at the hotel were very courteous and helpful. The only one comment I have about the room is they didn't have one of those little quick coffee makers for your morning coffee. We ate at the "sidewalk cafe" in the hotel and the breakfast was delicious and filling. We used the express checkout and didn't have to wait in the lines forming at the desk. Our stay was from Thursday through Saturday so we were not overpriced. I definitely recommend Bally's for location, comfort and price.

an honest review

First off, when you read a review you need to treat it like figure skating and throw out the top and bottom scores or reviews. The person that thinks its the greatest place on earth probably never gets out or won some money, and that is rare in Vegas. The person that hates it and only said horrible things about the place probably complains about everything and is never satisfied. With that said lets move on to my review. I will be comparing Ballys to some of the places I have stayed as well. Ballys is not the most beautiful or exciting casino in Vegas but it doesn't cost like the beautiful and exciting casinos either. I have been to vegas many times and have stayed many places and I prefer to stay at Ballys. Here's why, the location is perfect. Your next door to MGM, across the street from Ballagio and Ceasers. Your right in the middle of the strip and with all the walkways and trams, you get around very easy.I haved stayed at Luxor and liked it but you were down the strip and had to walk or travel alot to get anywhere. I spent alot of money on cabs when I stayed at Luxor. The restuarants at Ballys are good, the Big Kitchen Buffet is awesome. There are not as many restaurants or clubs / bars at Ballys as there are at MGM. I have stayed at MGM and loved it but the place was so big it took two days to figure out how to get around. Plus, there are so many people at MGM and most bring there kids. Visit MGM and play there but it was very crowded and hectic there. The casino at Ballys is nice and its not so big that you get lost. You can go play blackjack and your friend play craps and it is still easy to find one another. I have stayed at Ceasers and got seperated from my group and it took an hour to find them. That is a few examples of why I stay at Ballys. They may not have all the attractions as some casinos but they are not as crowded and hectic, and with the great location all the main attractions are nearby. Plus, Oshea's casino is close by. For those that do not know, Oshea's is the only casino in tu can even find dollar blackjack there. That last tip is for the low rollers and losers just like me. After three days in Vegas I can't afford five and ten dollar minimum bets anymore. The rooms are nice, nothing breathtaking but if you go to Vegas for the room then your in the wrong city. Rooms in Vegas should be used only to store your stuff. The pool and spa are very good but if you have kids or plan on alot of time in the water then try MGM or Mandalay Bay.The convienence makes Ballys perfect, it's in the middle of everything and the place is very nice. Other places might have a cooler nightclub or better pool but you pay for them. Stay at Ballys and visit other places. Here is a few things you must do or see in Vegas.1. See the major shows like Mystere, O, or Blue Man Group. It's worth the ticket price.2. See a comedy show. Great comedians for a low price.3.Rumjungle at Manday Bay. It's a restaraunt that turns into a nightclub after 10:00.4.Eat at Stefanos in the Golden Nugget. Best Italian food anywhere.5. Ballys Big Kitchen Breakfast Buffet is awesome.6. Play Roulette at Oshea's all night and watch the sunrise from your table.7. Go to the highroller casinos and listen to the lounge acts while you play Keno. Great music and you might get lucky at Keno.8. Alot of great bands play at smaller venues like House of Blues and Hard Rocks Hotel / casino. Look in the entertainment guides for who will be in town while your there.9. Big Shot at the Stratosphere. One crazy ride with a great view.10. The Forum shops at Ceasers. I hate shopping but this place is great.I hope this helps. I love Vegas and will be there soon.

Recently stayed at Bally's (south tower) for 4 nights. While I have really nothing to complain about, it is obvious that the hotel is getting old. Room was clean and nice, but toilet commode was loose, making a banging sound each time someone sat down. Clock radio was so confusing, we couldn't move the clock ahead one hour for daylight savings time. Also, anyone planning to spend a lot of time at the pool (very nice - heated) should ask for the NORTH tower; the pool is at the far end of that tower. We had quite a hike each time we went down there & had to wear clothes over our suits in order to walk through the entire casino to get there.
