| Nice room, loud and dangerous night life |
| The Aruba Hotel is a very old place that has been nicely remodeled and updated. The staff was pleasant and helpful, and the place was generally clean. The problem though was the night life. They have a Latin night on Wednesday nights, which ends at 4:00 am. The crowd and music are VERY loud, and the backstage door that faces the rooms is usually open, making it seem like they are IN your room. After the bar closed, about 30 people migrated to the parking area in front of the rooms. A fist fight ensued with about 15 members of the group (including women) punching each other out with lots of yelling and blood, ending with the arrival of 6 police cars. On Thursday night there was another gathering in the lot, ending in a shooting, lots of police cars, helicopters with search lights, many arrests, ect. Just like watching a TV show. I have photos taken from my room. The staff said that was common. One cab and one shuttle from the Convention Center refused to take me all the way to the Hotel after dark and dropped me off 3 blocks away. |
