Excellent stay during the CWS

Stayed here for the 2nd year in a row during the College World Series. This is a very comfortable hotel with excellent rooms, beds, etc... The waitstaff at the bar is also excellent. The hotel still looks brand new and shows no wear from the last time we stayed here. I'd recommend it to anyone. Definitely a good value for the price. The only suggestion I would have is to add elevators in more locations - our room was a long walk down the hall from the elevator. Nice location, close to the old market, airport, casinos etc.

Hilton in Omaha is wonderful.

My husband booked this hotel for our anniversary as a surprise for me (we live about 3 blocks away after moving back to Omaha from London, England) and it was AMAZING. The Hilton is new, well located, clean and unique. Omaha deserves a hotel of this caliber and I was impressed. Our room (Rm. 7010) overlooked the Qwest Center and faced East. Because my husband and I were hoping for a lie in, the heavyweight curtains were very effective in blocking out the morning sunshine. The room was quite large, the bed was uber-comfortable and the toiletries were provided by Neutrogena. The room also provides a desk, cozy chair with ottoman and plenty of drawer room for clothing. This is a sophisticated hotel, well designed and decorated. Several Jun Kaneko sculptures grace the front entrance and the lobby interiors are welcoming and well presented. Our in-town holiday extended to having brunch at the hotel restaurant, Liberty Tavern and it also was wonderful. The sweet-potato fries are heavenly (and good for you too!). Excellent service. Don't be discouraged from this hotel because it does not sit exactly in the Old Market. It is easily walkable (only 3 1/2 blocks to Old Market) and they also provide a free shuttle within a 3-mile radius. Once our new Holland Performing Arts Center opens (Sept. 2005) I think a clever and luxurious get-away would include seeing a performance and then heading over to the Hilton for a fabulous night. If you're looking for a hotel in Downtown the Hilton is well worth the price, absolutely.

t order room service

ordered a cobb salad, no egg. simple, right? nope. it showed up with no dressing, no avocado, no blue cheese, with egg and black olives. also, the room service delivery man didn't smile, say thanks, etc., acted like he was bothered by me ordering room service. this is the second time this has happened to me at this hotel.

Me and my wife stayed here on our anniversary. The room was nice was pretty small. bed was comfortable. We had trouble with our keys working and they sharged us $.75 a local call even when the line was busy. They overcharged me 3 times for my room and I kept calling accounting and the guy was rude telling me that it was just a hold. but I told him it cleared out of my account. He argued with me until he found out I was correct and then acted like oh well! Im from omaha and I think the attitude of the hotel kind of stinks. It looks Like a hospital from the outside just a tan ol building. I read some of the reviews that said it was the best hotel ever I have to laugh because they must be relatives of the people that work there. Hyatt in Kc and the double tree in Omaha smoke this hotel. I wish they would have build the marriott they were going to build instead. we will never stay there again.

Excellent Stay

stayed on business, clean and well furnished room (executive level), club level lounge has light fare in evenings, & drinks for $, expanded gym, dining facilities & bar excellent, internet service for a fee... the inside of this hotel is very well decorated!... only thing is my room was a bit far from the elevators (U-shaped hotel w/ elevators in middle)... would definitely recommend for business travelers.

I was impressed with this hotel. I found the rooms to be decent sized and clean. The bed (king) lush and very comfortable. The bathrooms were attractive, fresh and modern and I really liked the half-circled curtain rod that gave me more room in the shower. There is internet connection in the room, two free bottles of water upon check-in, a mini-bar, and cable TV with HBO and Starz.

The dining room is beautiful and the food was excellent. The wait staff was friendly and helpful in pointing out the chef's specialities.

The fitness center is used by more than traveler's, so be prepared to share equipment with individuals conducting their morning workouts before heading off to the office.

To be honest, I was a little puzzled to read a few of the other reviews regarding non-children friendly and slimy floors. Every reader should understand that this is a four-star hotel with primarily business travelers. If you want something conducive to children then maybe picking a hotel that IS more family oriented is the way to go. As a business traveler and a parent of four, I don't know why anyone would choose to stay at a $200 a night hotel with young children in tow. Before I receive tons of hate mail, I should go on record stating that I love kids. But to be frank I don't want to hear kids running up and down the hall when I have to be up at 6am for a presentation at 9am. And as a parent, I know full well that kids go a little crazy in new surroundings. I'm quite sure that other traveling businessmen and women that has been kept awake at night with kids running the hallways feel the same.

Overall, I recommend this hotel to anyone passing through Omaha and I would definitely stay here again.

i couldn't believe it! i payed alot for reservations s=thinking that it would be great.... but when i got there, it was all slimy, the floors were covered in gunk, the rooms were way too small, and no electronic appliance worked. it was horrible. and at a price of $200 a night? heck no.

Not Great For Children

I expected a lot out of this hotel, being a four-star, and ended up leaving disappointed. The rooms seemed small and charging extra for a pack-and-play ($8.95) seemed like a lot.

The counter in the restroom is high -- very high -- and young children will need a boost just to see the sink -- much less turn on the water.

The snack shop downstairs is convenient, though very overpriced. Don't expect to find anyplace else to eat nearby, either. There isn't a "Denny's" or "Village Inn" or any restaurant within walking distance.

The only positive we gained was the walkway directly to the arena. Makes it convenient for a person to attend an event and then just walk back to their room, avoiding the hassle of traffic or weather.

Maybe I expected too much from a 4 star hotel, but I wasn't impressed with the Hilton Omaha. The facility is really nice looking and clean. My wife and I, and two small children, were greated nicely upon arrival, but things went average from there. Check-in was fine until we got to the room and discovered that neither key worked. This wouldn't have been a big deal if the room wasn't the furthest distance from the elevator as possible. That made no sense in the first place since the hotel was pretty empty. When I went to get my keys redone I didn't even get a forced apology. I felt like I was inconveniencing them -- there was no line. I ended up bringing up my own luggage when the bell boy disappeared on me after helping me load the cart and telling me that he would bring it up after I parked the car. I waited outside for him for several minutes before deciding it wasn't worth waiting anymore.
Once in the room, it was nice and clean. The furnishings were very nice and the bed was very comfortable. The room seemed a bit small though, but I usually stay in suites, so that's probably why. I was disappointed when the hotel wanted to charge me $8.95 a day for internet access when I've stayed at "lesser" hotels who gave it free. I had requested a crib and a roll-away for our children. The crib came (a pack-and-play), but we never received the roll-away. Luckily our 2 year old liked the "adventure" of sleeping on the floor - so we never ended up calling for one again.
We had checked-in at 2:00 pm and had noticed room service trays outside a few doors on the way to the room. That was fine. However, we arrived back from supper later that night (around 9:00 pm), those same trays were still sitting in the halls. I thought that was a little strange, and unsanitary, especially since the rooms were all cleaned it seemed.
The coffee shop didn't make good Mochas... that was sad. They made a decent Italian Soda however. We didn't eat in the restaurant because we wanted to go out, but it looked nice and had some interesting dishes I would have tried if I had been there longer. We had a decent glass of wine... but my wife's glass was really dirty, and she ended up pouring it into one of our room glasses.
They had a really nice workout area. Good variety of machines. The pool was big, but it was too cold in our opinion. We still enjoyed it after we got used to it. We didn't use the SPA services, but I think I would have if I hadn't been so unimpressed by the lack of attention to details by the hotel.
The hotel really seemed geared to business people, and I think if I would have been there for business I would have enjoyed it better, but I paid full price for what I expected to be a relaxing time for my wife and family. It's supposed to be a 4 star hotel, and it looks like it... but I left feeling disappointed in the little things that kept adding up. It was a bummer.

I can't say how disappointed I was with this hotel. We stayed one night and left. Our room was tiny, stuffy and you couldn't open a window. The air didn't work. There was no place to hang your clothes no dresser. Room service was ok but $15 for a bowl of cornflakes, oh and not even a table in the room to eat on.

Top Local Tips for Omaha

The Old Market and Qwest The Hilton is downtown right across from the Qwest convention center where thet have concerts, the Old Market is not far from there and in walkable distance but if it's winter the shuttle will take you.

Liberty Tavern The restraunant in the hotel is fabulous! We were wanting to head down to the Old Market and decided to stay at the hotel instead and it was wonderful and not expensive! Great choice!

Omaha is a fun city to visit Omaha is easy to get around in...lots of great shopping....the Zoo is one of the best in the Nation....the OLD MARKET is a great place to shop, go to a bar or go out to eat. They get great concerts in Omaha and the Omaha Hilton is hooked onto the Qwest so if your going to a concert stay there...or there are many other nice hotels to stay downtown and they will shuttle you to the concert.
