Top Local Tips for Omaha

Omaha, Nebraska The Henry Doorly Zoo and Lozier Imax theater are fantastic. A couple of hotels do offer free zoo passes (1 adult pass per room), but you have to check to book them. If you're planning to visit the children's museum, do so on Friday or Saturday, they are only open for four hours on Sunday afternoon. Take a stroller to the zoo, if you're traveling with young kids, and make sure to wear comfy shoes that are made for lots of walking because some of the attractions are far apart. We stayed at the Doubletree Guest Suites, near I-80, which was fantastic for the 2 adults and 2 young children we took there. Try Runza at least once, but not if you're a vegan or vegetarian like me, they don't have anything worthwhile. Valentino's Italian buffet is great, too. Oh, for a cheaper hotel with a great kids pool, try Best Western Kelly Inn, we love it. The pool only gets about 3 feet deep and features 2 water slides. Don't pay more than 70 bucks a night, though, do your homework!

Childrens Museum It's a little on the shabby and threadbare side...the zoo is better.

Greath Authentic Baja Style Mexican Food Check out Hectors. I think there are several locations around Omaha. Great food, amazing margaritas and fantastic service. Very family friendly too.
