Historical Traveller Reviews of Yellowstone Basin Inn Hotel

Loved this place!

from PackerFan_7
This is a great inn! The owners are very friendly, and gave suggestions on what to see/do in Yellowstone and where to have dinner. Our room (the Ridin' High room) was clean, comfortable, and very spacious. I would recommend Yellowstone Basin Inn to anyone visiting Yellowstone National Park.

Best Place to Stay for a Visit to Yellowstone

from jccoll
My daughter and I just spent a week at the Yellowstone Basin Inn. It is definitely the place to stay for a visit to Yellowstone. The rooms are very comfortable, nicely decorated and immaculate. Greg and Sabina are incredible hosts. They are friendly, accomodating, very knowledgeable about the area and eager to help. Greg set us up with some chairs out front one night to watch a meteor shower. Sitting in the hot tub and enjoying the views is beyond compare. The view of the night sky and the stars was great. They even have a grill which allowed us to cook a great steak dinner. The muffins at breakfast are the best. The Inn is in a great location, convenient to the park with great access to the Yellowstone River and to the Park. We went into the Park each day and went whitewater rafting on the Yellowstone one afternoon. This was my 8th trip out to Yellowstone. The last three stays have been at the Yellowstone Basin Inn, as will the next. In short, fantastic place.

Beautiful place

We stayed 3 nights in the Paradise Cabin, a very nice, comfortable and clean room. We enjoyed our stay at the Yellowstone Basin Inn very much and got a lot of highly valuable information on the park, which made our visit so much more interesting. Would definitely come back to this beautiful place.

The Innkeepers Have Found Their Nitch

from cbisom
The only thing disappointing about our stay at The Yellowstone Basin Inn was that we had to leave sooner than we were ready. It was a great stay and out hosts, Greg and Sabina, are credited with much of the reason.

The Inn was great, with convenient location to Yellowstone and Gardiner, immaculate and having all the ammenities one would expect.. However, it was the genuine hospitality of the owners that raises this Inn head and shoulders above what we were expecting.

We were made to feel welcome from the moment we pulled into the parking lot. Greg was very helpful and entertaining during breakfast each morning. It is apparent that he is in his element, that he really enjoys helping people have the perfect experience in this most beautiful part of the country. We followed his suggestions and this resulted in a wonderful two days.

Lovely

Loved this place. It's far enough out of town so it's quiet, even though relatively close to the road. Beautiful views of the mountains across the valley from the front porch. We had room #10, Northern Lights, it was a little small and tended to get stuffy at night, even with the window open because there was no cross ventilation but the bed was very comfortable and the room sparkling clean. The in room wi-fi was a little weak/flaky. I had to set on the bed instead of at the desk to use it one evening. Breakfast was above average for this type.

Great Place to Stay......

In May 2006, my fiance and I stayed at the Yellowstone Basin Inn. Greg and Sabina were very helpful from the moment we met them. Greg gave us lots of info about the park and the area. Originally, we were booked there for three nights and we ended up staying another night. In fact, we are trying to coordinate our family going there. As for the room, it room was super clean and everything was inviting.

A wonderful, quiet place - luxurious after staying in the Park!

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Yellowstone Park.
We are a family of 3 and booked the Montana Suite, which is a 2 bedroom, 2 floor (!) suite with a full kitchen. (Also had 1.5 baths)
It was so wonderful to have that much space.
The website doesn't mention it, but the property has central A/C, which was great!
The innkeeper, Greg, was very friendly, he offered us drinks at check-in and made some excellent dinner suggestions.
The inn is up on a hill with a great view of the river and surrounding mountains. it's a couple of miles outside of the town of Gardinar, which is nice. There are a few other properties in town, but though the town is small, it's very busy with rafting companies and tourist shops, so it was nice to be out of town and have the view.
We used the hot tub, and it was great - fenced in and very private.
Yes, there were a couple of bugs, no big deal - easy to sweep away.
The coffee was hot in the morning, and the muffins and croissants were tasty. It was great to be able to sit on the porch in the morning or evening and look at the mountains.
We were very happy with this property!

Perfect place to stay for Yellowstone!

Fabulous little inn! The owner, Greg, was extremely helpful about Yellowstone hiking, and very welcoming. The room was spacious and very clean, comfortable bed. You can't beat the view out the front door! Greg recommended the Lighthouse for dinner which was fantastic!

The Inn Keeper was great - met us with cold drinks, a little expensive

from Schotziegirl
The Inn keeper is wonderful very friendly met us with cold drinks. Great service. Easy to find and good location if your coming down from the top into Yellowstone. The view from the Inn is beautiful. Very clean except the hot tub - lots of dead bugs so it needs a better cover. It was a little expensive compared to the other places we stayed but I would recommend.

Great place to stay in Gardiner

from Chris_Audrey
We stayed at the Yellowstone Basin Inn for four nights in June 2007. We booked here because of the reviews we had read in Trip Advisor.

Overall our stay here was great. Echoing what other reviewers have said - Greg is a great host and was terrific about providing recommendations for things to do in Yellowstone. He gladly lent us a cooler when we needed one and provided us other personal touches. We were in the Riding High room and it was very clean, tastefully decorated and had a great view. Breakfast was nice -including muffins, bagels, and ceral. The free high speed wireless internet was great for us.

Something we did not consider is that Yellowstone is a huge park, and the driving times to many destinations made for full day trips. Definitely check out the distances on the NPS website and be sure to add some time for unexpected stops while viewiing wildlife along the way.

Gardiner is a nice little town and very accessible to the north entrance of the park. The town is fairly small with a handful of restaurants. Also, while most of us are trying to escape on our vacation be aware that at&t cell phone service does not work throughout most of the yellowstone and gardiner area except in the Food Farm parking lot located along the main drive (89?)

We would definitely recomend the Inn to friends and family.

Top Local Tips for Gardiner

Eat at the Lighhouse! The Lighthouse Restaurant is just north of Gardiner about 5 miles. The drive is totally worth it (with beautiful scenery) and the food was FANTASTIC. A very eclectic mix including sushi and Italian! The food here was above and beyond anything inside the Park, and reasonably priced.

Yellowstone National Park Very close to the North Entrance

Arriving & Departing in regard to Yellowstone National Park We found flying in and out of Bozeman, MT to be really convenient.
