Best restaurant and great hotel

from Solange72
For his birthday, my husband and I spent a night there last year. Our room had great windows and though probably the smallest in the hotel was quite beautiful. The restaurant was fantastic. Yes, the bass which was noticed by another reviewer was really heavenly: cooked with saffron, delicate and flaky. Nice waiters.

My favorite!

I stayed here for my birthday in 2001 and I fell in love with it so much, I stayed the next year too. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford it this past year. The rooms are VERY comfortable, as you'd expect at the Westin, but the decor was wonderful. My room was very spacious, but there are smaller ones. The staff is excellent, the restaurant/bar was nice, and the bellhops deserve every tipping dollar!

Comfiest bed in town

My husband and I stayed here during July 4th holidays. It was definately a busy time for the hotel.

We were greeted by a friendly doorman/ valet, "Blue" and were made to feel welcome and to call on him if we needed anything. We checked in and it went smoothly and quickly. We did let them know the directions to the hotel on the website were wrong (there is no Market street exit off I-70). The desk agent acknowledged this, but one of his supervisors said it was because of construction. I got the feeling that she wasn't really listening to the problem even though the agent and I had already found out that even with the construction there WAS NO exit. I had gotten a letter and email from the hotel 2 days before and there had been no mention of directions being wrong or changed. Anyhow, that was the only glitch.

The rest of our stay was great. The food and room met my expectations of the Westin reputation. Of course, the bed was Heavenly as advertised. The conceirge was helpful and friendly (not snobby). We ordered room service the last day and it came right on time as we ordered. The prices on the food (restaurant and room service) were actually reasonable for a hotel of this caliber. Also unique, the hotel has been decorated with modern art by local artists.

The location was wonderful. Right smack next to Busch stadium and a metro station (also very helpful and friendly staff) that we could take the train to the Arch or even to the airport.

Overall, other that the confusion of how to get to the hotel, everthing else was excellent. Will stay here again (now that I know how to get there!!)

Superb Hotel

If you want to see a cardinals game and you are from out of town, this is this hotel for you. My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and saw a couple of games and let me tell you..........Outstanding! Hugh rooms and the service was great. Heavenly Bed and Bathroom is everything that the hotel says and then some. We didn't want to get out of bed all weekend. Can't recommend this hotel enough!!!!!! Only problem is construction going on for the new Cardinals stadium and driving is kindof tricky. However, we were never disturbed at all.

My wife and I stayed here for a mini-honeymoon. We got the Ultimate Couples Package. The hotel service was GREAT! The food at the Clark Street Grill, UNBELIEVABLE! The room, BREATHTAKING! This hotel knows how to make someone feel like royalty. There was absolutely nothing wrong with our stay.

Enjoyable Stay

My husband and I stayed at the Westin for our anniversary in May of 2004. The staff was more than accommodating upon our arrival and cleared up a challenge with our reservation very quickly. Our room was very nice - looked just like the photo on the Westin website. The Metro line runs just behind the hotel, so it is very easy to get to Union Station and the Landing without ever having to move your car. The biggest challenge we had was maneuvering through the construction for the new Busch Stadium. We should have called the hotel for better, more specific directions on how to get around the construction. There was only one robe in the bathroom - if you would like another, call the front desk. The bed was Heavenly, but the pillows were a bit on the wimpy side. Next time, we will take our own pillows. The package we booked through explorestlous.com advertised "breakfast in bed," but we were simplyl given vouchers for the restaurant off the lobby. Not a big deal, but we were looking forward to not having to rush in the morning to get breakfast downstairs. Overall, it was a nice stay.

Amazing!!!!!

My boyfriend and I travel up to St. Louis often for Blue's Hockey Games. We always try to stay in nice hotels, and we usually stay at the Adam's Mark. We had wanted to stay at the Westin for a while, so when a good deal came up, we couldn't resist!! This hotel was anything but what we expected... it was amazing!!!The decoration is gorgeous. It has a coffee house feel to it, and its huge and spacious. Even the valet area is gorgeous. The hotel is quietly set off on its own, and its very quiet around. We stayed on a Sunday night. We were just amazed by the outside and the lobby. The staff was extrememly fast and courteous. When we got to our room, we could not believe what we were going to be sleeping in... The room was GIGANTIC. The bed was enormous with a padded headboard and soft, SOFT SOFT sheets and pillows, and in insanely thick comforter. The decorations were great, and it had a huge work station, television center, and a FULLY stocked mini bar. The bathroom was a trip in itself... it was gigantic, with a gorgeous tub, a huge separate shower, and a beautiful sink area. It even had art work in it, and a huge, soft robe was waiting for you.It also helped that when we looked out our (huge roomlength) windows, we saw the charter bus of the opposing team. My boyfriend got all their autographs. According to people we talked to, this is where many of the professional sports teams stay when they come into town! We rode down the elevator with a hockey player!!Also-- if you get a chance (which we did not), eat at the grill their. We hear its delicious.

Best hotel in St. Louis

My wife and I checked out every 4+ star hotel in St. Louis for our wedding night (Jan 10, 2004), and after seeing all of them, the choice was extremely easy. The Westin is the nicest hotel in the city in all respects. We were absolutely thrilled with every aspect of our short stay there. The restaurant is outstanding, the service was first class, the hotel and rooms are all very well appointed and excellent. I would rate this as the nicest hotel I have ever been in and would absolutely recommend it to anyone staying in downtown St. Louis.

Superb!!!

We spent our anniversary - Dec 2002 - at the Westin, downtown St. Louis. We got our room through Priceline - we could have gotten as good of deal directly with hotel - we found out later. But our experience was WONDERFUL. The Heavenly bed is just that, the bath was luxurious and everything was immaculately clean. We worried about noise - being so close to the highway - but that was no problem at all. We loved the current 'showing in theater' movies. The breakfast was to die for. One of the breakfast waiters - who had moved back to STL from New York to care for an ailing grandmother - even sang to another couple who had spent their wedding night at the hotel. He was quite good! All in all, other than the disappointment we had with Priceline, our experience was TOP NOTCH and we catch ourselves saying we should go back for breakfast again. Better yet, we will probably spend another anniversary. You won't be disappointed. The Westin is one of the best. CM, Red Bud, IL

Very nice

Got a very good rate with AAA and advance purchase. Room was very comfortable and attractive. Beds are queen size, not king size. Bed linen is terrific. Room service breakfast was delivered fairly quickly.

Valet parking was expensive -- and slow.
