Top Local Tips for St. Louis

Forest Park Forest Park is a wonderful respite after being on the road for so long. To get there from the Sheraton, you'll drive through a quite depressed area and I'm not sure but I think I passed a drug deal on a street corner. But once you enter the park you're in a lush wonderland of green grass and trees. There's a lake with a lakeside restaurants. Be warned, there are long waits at peak times and they don't offer take away anymore. There are paddleboats on the lake and lots of waterfowl. The zoo is adjacent to the park and there is a big greek inspired building going in at present.

West Port Plaza - Not A Shopping Mall! I have read many reviews for hotels in the Westport area where the reviewer complains that Westport is a disappointing SHOPPING mall. If you are looking for a shopping mall, Westport Plaza is the wrong place to book. Westport is a nightlife hot spot for St. Louis County. Westport contains a comedy club, jazz club, restaurants, sports bars, and night clubs. During the day it caters to offices, coffee shops, and sandwich shops.

Westport area - sushi at Drunken Fish In the Westport area, there is a sushi bar called the Drunken Fish. It was awesome. We had the "Drunken Fish Roll". It was $14 for 10 pieces. It had tempura shrimp, some sort of spicy mayo drizzled on it w/planko crumbs and salmon roe and topped w/thin slice of tuna. Sopporo beer was $8 for a 22 oz and I think a large warm sake (about 6 shot glasses full) was $6 I think. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes sushi.
