WOW! Loved it here!

WOW! What a great hotel! Close to everything we wanted, great staff, housekeeping and wonderful service! We got an upgrade to a suite room and were thrilled! This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Check in was fast and friendly. The room was spacious, great amenities and a great bed! Going back for a Rams game and will stay here again!!!

Great experience

I "booked" this hotel through priceline and was very pleased that this is the hotel I received for my $50 bid. I'm guessing the suite was one of the smaller ones but since I was by myself it was just fine. It was on a corner, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. The only negative was the low water pressure in the shower. Otherwise, the bathroom was very nice and large.

I had pre-arranged a room service breakfast by putting a hanger on the door before going to bed. It arrived right on time the following morning and the food was great.

I had few dealings with any staff but check-in was smooth and the clerks helpful and amiable.

I was attending some baseball games at Busch Stadium. While the location isn't as close as some of the other hotels right in the area of the stadium, it was certainly an easy 10-15 minute walk. The parking garage, while not attached, was very convenient to the hotel.

All in all, this was a very good experience and I would definitely stay here again. Especially if I can get it again for $50!

Great hotel package for baseball!

My husband and I recently went to a Cards game on July 9th and 10th. This is my second visit. The first visit was right after they opened and it was great, although it is not for young children. A great getaway for adults. The package we got was great with 2 tickets to game, free in room movies, free breakfast(in room, or restaurant), 15% coupons for room service, free parking(valet or self)and free dessert coupons. All for 189.00! This was a King bedroom suite too. Everything was really great and well worth the money. I have to agree with the first review that said the bedroom was quite small, but still nice. Well worth the money!! Highly recommended.

Very Nice Hotel

We stayed at the Reniassance Grand on June 20 for 2 nights. The staff was very friendly and room service came in less than 30 minutes as promised. The room decor was very nice and the bed was the best hotel bed I have slept in. I would highly recommend the Reniassance Grand.

We went fourth of July weekend

from Travelbug4484
We went to St. Louis for the fourth of July weekend. We stayed at the Marriott Renaissance Grand Hotel. We reserved the hotel through Expedia and paid $79 per night (not bad on a holiday). The hotel was very nice and it was an easy walk to the Arch and other downtown activities. St. Louis is a very clean town. The people were very friendly. The ride through the Arch was great, not nearly as hot and cramped as everyone says. We didn't go to the zoo because of rain. The Arch riverboat wasn't much...just up the river and back again...but it does give you a great view of the Arch. The MetroLine is very clean and an easy way to get around...leave the car at the hotel. We lay on blankets under the Arch and watched the fireworks...way cool. We'll certainly go back again. Great city.

Beautiful, but...

I stayed at the hotel June 7th-9th and thought that it was ok. To begin, when one first walks in, the lobby is absolutely beautiful, especially the ceiling. The front desk staff were helpful, but somewhat vague when it came to directions. My major complaint with the property is the Vegas like hallways you find going to your room. They seem to stretch for miles and are quite narrow. I felt somewhat claustrophobic in the halls. The rooms were clean, but small. The next time I'm in St. Louis I'm going back to the Wyndham (its right next door to the Renaissance).

Everyting we could have asked for FIRST RATE!

WOW! This was a classy perfect downdown stay! The hotel and the staff were amazing. It could not have been better!

Not a 4 star by my standards

This was the worst Hotel experience I have ever had or hope to ever have. The service was not what I had prearranged. The staff was rude the room was dirty the bath was not cleaned or stocked. No cleaning staff on duty.
And when I asked about my reservations I was told that nothing was guranteed. That is not what I was told when booking the reservations. All-in-all a horrible experience.

great but not perfect

Stayed recently for a week. Beautiful room furnishings and decor. Had several friends there also, so saw several rooms. the single with kings are much larger rooms than the rooms with two queens that I saw. Had to wait an hour at check in for a non-smoking king. Glad I waited. This hotel had the best room service and personnel I have ever experienced! Excellent food brought by very polite personnel who took time to place a table to suit me and took time to lay out the napkin, arrange utensils and make sure everything was to my liking. I felt like a VIP. The hotel entrance way is small and during high use, valet nearly came to a standstill. Couldn't find my keys for 10 minutes once. Personnel courteous but system is easily overloaded. Hotel is only 2 blocks from the subway which connects directly to the airport. hotel is within walking distance of the arch. bed was loaded with pillows and very comfortable. I enjoyed the experience.

Top Local Tips for St. Louis

Be Careful When Navigating with GPS It's not uncommon for folks to be traveling to places like St Louis with their own GPS, or using one that comes from a car rental agency. Before doing that, I would recommend you get familiar with the routes you might want to take using Google, etc., and be careful not to have the GPS lead you into a bad neighborhood where there are no "drive throughs" but there are many "drive bys."

Great place for Jazz Go to BB's Jazz Blues on Soups at 700 S. Broadway ( They have VERY tasty food (I had the muffaletta and could not finish it) and VERY awesome jazz. There is normally a cover, but it is reasonably priced. Great selection of beers as well, and all at very good prices! Close to the baseball stadium and metro.

Eating near the convention center We spent the first few days thinking, there are no resturants open in St. Louis. We found out that there are in fact some places near the arch and the old town hall building. All resturants were very very slow (2hrs+ for lunch) and we missed conference sessions. Avoid the Dubliner and the Flamingo Bowling alley.
