Classic yet modern!

Can't wait to go back. Staff was very friendly and rooms were sparkling clean. Couldn't have imagined a better stay if I tried! We'll be going back to visit family again near the end of August and I already have my reservations booked!

Not the best Hampton

This Hampton was just OK. Staff and management need to get a clue: For instance, the morning breakfast buffet was not kept up, but a girl with a basket of mints would be standing there with a vacant grin on her face. Meanwhile, the fruit bowl had nothing but juice with 2 grapes floating in it.
Very annoying teenybopper music was blaring in the pool area, our shower was broken, the complimentary USA Today was only delivered on Monday... not Tuesday or Wednesday... although other rooms had newspapers outside their doors, no housekeeping staff was available in the evening.

The rooms were clean, parking was good, excellent Italian food delivery. Just the day-to-day operation needs to improve to the level expected at a Hilton brand hotel. We stay at many Hiltons/Hampton Inns, and this one wasn't up to par.

Hampton Inn at The Arch is Top Notch!

My family and I just got back from a fun weekend visit to St. Louis and stayed at this wonderful hotel.

After diligently reviewing downtown hotels in St. Louis, I chose the Hampton Inn at the Arch because of the previous reviews for this hotel. Not only is this hotel within walking distance to the Arch and Laclede's Landing, they also offered a wonderful package - - for only $119/night, we received 4 free tickets to the City Museum (normally $12 per person), two free large pizzas from a local pizzeria (delicious) and free parking! I think this rate is good through the end of April, then it will go up a bit.

Even though we arrived at the hotel a little early (around 11:30 a.m.), we were pleasantly surprised that we were able to check in. The front desk employees are so kind and really made us feel welcome. I was so tickled to find that our room had a clear view of the Arch! When I had called to make our reservations several days before, I had asked if there was any way we could have a room with a view of the Arch, since I thought my husband and kids would get a kick out it. The kind gentleman I spoke with said he would make a note of my request. I figured it wouldn't happen, but I was wrong!

The room itself was extremely clean and fresh smelling (we had non-smoking). After reading so many bad reviews of other hotels, I was on the look-out for mold in the bathroom (none - - sparkling clean), stains on the carpet (none - very clean) and anything else that might gross me out. I found nothing - - the room was perfect!

They have an indoor pool (and jacuzzi) which is refreshing after a full day of walking at the zoo! The pool area and the pool itself was immaculate!

I can't speak enough for the staff at this hotel. From the cleaning staff to gentleman working in the parking booth to the lifeguard at the pool - - all of them were so kind and helpful. I could tell they enjoyed working there.

Another aspect I was impressed with was the free hot breakfast they offered. It wasn't just doughnuts and coffee. It was an actual buffet with cereal, fruit, muffins, doughnuts, eggs, buscuits and gravy, oatmeal, bagels, toast, orange juice, coffee, milk. . .I'm sure there was more, but that's all I can think of at the moment! Very impressive!

Our enjoyable stay at the Hampton Inn truly contributed to our memorable St. Louis weekend. We will stay here for future visits, no doubt about it!

Wonderful hotel

Hampton Inn at the Arch is above reproach. The staff was friendly, the room spotless, and the extras sooo handy. There was an excellent free breakfast, a free business center with computers, fax, and printer, an indoor pool and spa and an exercise room. In addition, we had a great view of the arch from our room and it was handy to the Convention Center and MetroLink. Would highly recommend to anybody staying in central St. Louis. Oh, and Maurizio's delivers delicious Italian to the hotel if you don't want to hunt for an eatery.

What a view

Spent one night at this hotel and it was wonderful! The room was large and there was a refrigerator and free internet. The view of the Arch from the room was incredible. Everything I could have wished for. My husband walked down to one of the casinos and won! The room was sparkling clean. The staff was having trouble with their computers but that didn't delay our check in. They seemed to take it all in stride! I just wish we could have had more time.

A cut above

I've stayed in a number of Hampton Inns across the country and this one is definitely a cut above the norm. The staff seem to take a pride in the place. Great value too for downtown St.L and a short walk from the best bar in town - Big Bang at Lacledes's Landing.

This is a new property - I think about a year or two old, and it's well kept. Decent breakfast. It's got free high-speed internet in all the guest rooms, and wireless in the lobby and breakfast area. Enclosed, secured covered parking is $10/night which is reasonable for downtown St. Louis. Indoor pool, laundry, game room, and a business center in case you forgot your computer. I've also found it to typically have reasonable rates. I don't think I've ever paid over $99/night on any of my visits - it's always less than the other Hampton downtown and usually competitive with the one out by the airport, which is far inferior. It's also right off I-70 so even if you're not working downtown it's convenient to much of the area, especially the Illinois side of the river.

I will continue to stay here when I'm in St. Louis.

Great Experience!

We were in town for the Washington Redskins-St. Louis Rams game at the beginning of December, we are Redskins fans... and after a horrible travel experience at various airports, we arrived in St. Louis-Lambert to find very helpful people there. We took the light rail from the airport, encountered a crack head, and in the bitter cold walked from the Convention Center 3 blocks to the hotel. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with a smile, and a pleasant hello, and Michael was absolutely helpful. Our reservation was for a smoking room with a king bed, and I jokingly asked if there was a non smoking room available with a king bed...he gladly checked and said yes. There was even a $18 a night discount from my original reservation, and he put us on the Hilton Rewards floor(15th) and a great view of the city and best of all, the Arch. Each morning we were there (3 days) we were greeted in the breakfast area by a very friendly staff. We were even recommended a great cab driver to take us to the Bud Brewery...they called him for us an everything. Overall, this was the BEST experience I have encountered at any hotel I have been to and there have been several, but I have never received service this good. I highly recommend the Hampton Inn at the Arch!

Hotel from HELL!

Where do I start! We reserved three rooms weeks in advance. When we arrived they had given away one of our rooms. Found a third room close by - at another hotel. After checking in we waited and waited for the elevator, finally got to our room on the 15th floor. The key wouldn't work. Went back down, they reprogramed it, went back up - still didn't work. They were going to get maintenance to fix it while we got something to eat. Came back. The elevators were broke - only one for everyone to use. Mind you we are on the 15th floor and there are more above us. Maintenance took us up the service elevator - garbage was all over the floor. The service elevator went up, clanging and banging the whole way. He kept turning around and telling us not to worry in broken English. It stopped on the 11th floor and quit working. He open the door with the emergency key saw the only remaining evelvator open at the same floor went running over, took it over and went to the 15th floor. Got back up - it wasn't fixed and his master key he had couldn't open it. Mind you all our stuff was in the room, we couldn't get in and it was late by then. He kept trying to reassure us in a foreign language we couldn't understand. Went back down 15 floors.

Finally got in after they bust the lock open. They were going to leave it that way, but ended up fixing it so it would lock. It was so noisy. Fifthteen floors up you could hear all the street noise. Come to find out our door to the ouside balcony wouldn't close all the way. Couldn't hardly sleep. Middle of the night - we wake up to sirens all over the place. (--)

Do not stay here!

Dirty, old , outdated hotel. Located right next to the highway and we couldn't get to sleep all night because of the noise. The room was so dirty I did not even want to walk on the carpet ad tile barefoot. I took pictures of the stained and broken plumbing in the room and sent them along with a letter to complain...Nevr heard back. DO NOT STAY HER
