ve got a gem of a hotel!!

What an incredible hotel in the heart of Westport. I normally never write reviews unless something is wrong, but oh my God, what a fantastic experience. I normally stay at the Country Club Plaza when I come to KC however my friend had mentioned something about a "Green" Hotel. So I decided to investigate. It was so simple to fine the hotel. I just went to google and typed in Green Hotels in Kansas City. The Q Hotel + Spa was the only hotel listed. They are definitely paying attention to the times!! The website is beautiful but as always you become septical about pictures of hotels on a website, The rates were so reasonable I decided to book it. After booking the reservation, I called the hotel. I spoke with the General Manager, Donald. It was amazng the amount of time he spent with me on the phone. From his friendliness to his excitement about the hotel I knew I made a great choice. Upon check-in I was great by a doorman, Steven (I believe) he was so friendly and nice. (Never got this type of service on the Plaza!) while checking in, the front desk clerk, Scott was so friendly. To top if off I met the owner of the hotel, Doug. The whole staff was so knowledgeable of the area I was treated like a King....The hotel was beautiful. It was just like the pictures on the website. The hotel is "Hip" the staff is Hip and the free breakfast - Made to order Omeletes, waffles, fresh fruit......Then the free drinks........(All included in the rate) Thier shuttle service "The Hybrid" took me to the Power & Light District then picked me up. I I had such a great nights sleep. I found a hone away from home in KC. If you are coming to Kansas City you need to check it out!!

The Q-Awesome

I really enjoyed my stay at the Q Hotel. The location is prefect. It is less than 5 minutes from the Plaza and about 5 minutes from downtown Kansas City.

The room was fabulous! The staff was very helpful and pleasant! I have stayed at many hotels; however, I would rate the Q at the top of my list.

I would highly recommend the Q!

Nice Stay

We found the Q Hotel to be a pleasant, quirky hotel. Great location; great breakfast; and even has a small bar in the lobby. Room was small but clean and nicely decorated. It's located in an area full of bars and restaurants (avoid the Irish's NOT Irish in any way) Close to the famous Plaza.

Bad service at the Q Hotel

The rooms we were given was not soundproofed at all ...we slept horribly. We could hear every door in the vicinity being slammed all night long. When asked to speak to the manager about the problems we were having we were told he was not available. I told them to please have him call my room when he gets in. Never heard from him. My concerns about the hotel and my stay were completely ignored. BAD BAD SERVICE!!!!

Disappointing stay

We stayed here for a KC wedding since it was on the list the bride provided of hotels where they had reserved a block of rooms. The price was the main reason for staying here, being a good $20 less than others. Our first experience at the front desk killed it for us. I had made a reservation over the phone and received confirmation for an early check-in. When we arrived, I was informed by a very rude woman working the desk that even though our room was available, we were lucky. I had apparently received this early check-in confirmation from someone who worked reservations, who shouldn't have given me this guarantee. She then called over another front-desk woman who had to give me the same full explanation--even naming the girl they blamed for making the mistake. I didn't need to know why their system doesn't work, I just wanted my room. Serious customer service training is required. There was only one working elevator, no clearly marked internal staircase, a tiny parking lot for guests, the complimentary breakfast left much to be desired, and for being "green," when we walked into our room, the TV had been left on. Spend the extra bucks and find a hotel that cares about its guests.

The Q was great

My wife and I were upgraded to this hotel by Expedia when the hotel we had booked in KC was undergoing renovations. The Q is an outstanding hotel in a great location. The staff was helpful and well informed. We greatly enjoyed our stay.

People-friendly and eco-friendly, lovely!

Never having been here before, I booked here solely because of the Q's reputation as a green hotel, because with all the environmental challenges facing our planet, it seems like the least we frequent travelers can do is to try not to make things worse. I arrived at the Q tired, stressed, and loaded with aches and pains from sitting in cramped airplane seats and lugging my bags around airports. The front desk staff immediately greeted me in a friendly manner and checked me in promptly. I knew it was a long shot but asked if I could get a massage the same afternoon, and they managed to get me an appointment for two hours later. (Next time I'll plan ahead.) Meanwhile I was able to have a nice hot bath in my ceramic-tiled bathroom. I appreciated the convenience and environmental friendliness of having the high-end shampoo, conditioner and body wash in a pump dispenser right there on the shower wall.

The massage with Mark was heaven; he deftly and patiently worked out the kinks, adapting his pressure to my feedback, and after an hour I felt like a completely different, relaxed, blissful person, capable of walking to a great vegetarian-friendly restaurant, Pangea, for a yummy dinner (there are lots of good restaurant choices within five or six blocks of the hotel, including some that are veg-friendly, which surprised me given that KC is a BBQ-ribs kind of place). Having HDTV and free Internet for my laptop was also great. My bed was comfy with hypoallergenic pillows and comforter, and the thermostat was easy to operate to create just the right temperature. My room was peaceful and quiet. Fresh fruit in the lobby was a nice touch. I was too relaxed post-massage to go work out in Gold's Gym, but I'll plan on it next time.

The breakfast buffet was another nice surprise - there was an outgoing cook making omelettes and scrambled eggs to order, a hot waffle line (you can also make them yourself), a choice of three breakfast cereals and a variety of oatmeal, toast, bagels and cream cheese, juice, organic coffee, and fresh fruit salad - something for everyone.

Although I am a fan and will definitely come back, I have a few suggestions for the Q as it finalizes its remodel. The spa is small and located in a dark corner of the basement that hasn't apparently been remodeled yet, so it seems more dungeon than retreat. Brighter lighting, some well-placed art, soft background music and a lighter color scheme (as in the basement breakfast room) would cure this impression. And although my room was lovely and bright, like many hotels it had one of those curtains that don't completely close so that you have to be careful about where you put on your pajamas, and there is a continual sliver of light at night, which given that the room faced the lighted parking lot, was a bit annoying. (I resorted to closing the curtain with one of the hangers with clips on it.) It would also be nice, as long as you're going to pile pillows on the bed (a nice touch), to provide pillows with varying degrees of firmness. One last little quibble is that the bathtub didn't have a reclining backrest. Maybe that's for bigger people who need more room to soak, but not so great for those of us who like to lie back and luxuriate. Overall, though, it is an absolute pleasure to find an environmentally-conscious, health-conscious, customer-oriented hotel in (of all places) Kansas City! A great value for the money.

We stayed at the Q to enjoy the surrounding shopping and nightlife over a long weekend. The entire hotel is newly remodeled and it is absolutely beautiful. We really enjoyed the fun retro look, and can't say enough about how welcome we were made to feel by the incredible staff. Breakfast was amazing, and the lobby bar was perfect for unwinding.
Green minded luxury...perfect.

Great Stay

I stayed at this hotel a year ago when it was the Quaterage and now as the Q it is wonderful. All new rooms with hi-def tv's were great. Lobby now has bar and expresso machine (enjoyed an organic beer via New Belgium). The Q is a green hotel and I really appreciated their eco operations. In room recycling was cool. A shuttle took husband and I to the Sprint Center for a of charge and later it took us to the Plaza and back. Great service. Breakfast was good including the made to order omlete. I didnt book a spa so I cant speak about that.

Overall, brand new rooms, and nicely done. Staff was great and very helpfull. I will return.
