Nice location, but a below-par stay

I recently stayed at the Radisson in Branson for a getaway weekend with the family. I had stayed at this property shortly after it opened (as a Crowne Plaza) several years ago when it seemed to be one of the nicest in Branson. Unfortunately it has slipped and is in need of repair.

The positives about the hotel include the location. It is located near the center of the Branson 76 strip, adjacent to the Grand Palace theater and Grand Village shops, and within a short walk of several shows, amusements, and shops. It is also located right at several of the connector routes, meaning you can drive around the area to just about wherever without having to fight the traffic of Hwy 76.

Another positive is the sleep number bed (which I had in my room...don't know if they're in every room or not). Very comfortable!

The downsides of the hotel were that is was very hot and humid and the public areas of the hotel. An employee said it was due to their having an indoor, but I've stayed at countless hotels with indoor pools that controlled their indoor climates just fine. The place just needs a renovation...the elevators were rickety, the carpets and furnishings in the room were worn out, and the decor was not that of upscale hotel with upscale prices.

Another interesting thing is that the ceilings throughout the hotel are very low. It can make you a little claustrophobic. The low ceilings in the room corridors remind me of a cruise ship.

Bottom line: if you're looking for luxury in Branson, look elsewhere. There are plenty of nicer and newer hotels there with comparable prices. If you're looking for value and location, there are literally hundreds of hotels in the neighborhood with lower advertised. I'd go back to the Radisson if the price was right, but I wouldn't make the mistake of over-expecting.

The Good: This hotel is in a great location - off the Yellow Road which got you anywhere you wanted to go. The hotel staff are very nice. The Select Comfort Mattresses are sooo comfortable.

The Bad: lobby was warm, elevators were hot, hallways were hot. There are only 5 elevators for this size hotel. This is not enough to accomodate the numerous functions going on the week we were there. The pool is very small for the size of the hotel. The workout room is so warm it is very uncomfortable. With all of the different functions, parking was not easy - although they have back and front lot parking, many vans from a Bible Tournament took up the majority of the parking places.

The Ugly: This hotel needs a major renovation. The furniture is worn and knicks along the dresser and night stands are very obvious. I almost bought a shower curtain to hide the hanging clothes in the room. There wasn't a closet - I felt like I was in a motel, not a hotel.

There were several other events taking place while we were there for a reunion. I guess the hotel had no control over the situation with children running all over the place, playing with the elevators, running into you as you were trying to get out of the elevator (how rude!). I guess I have to find fault with the parents of this "Bible Tournament" that let these children run free and although they had lower lobby meeting rooms, they all seemed to flock in the lobby - chairs, sofas, floors, hallways, etc. I am sure that any complaining I did would not have made any difference. Parents, watch your children and try to teach them some kind of manners!

This would not be my first choice of stays in the area. There are many other facilities that would meet my standards and needs, but I would like to return to Branson for the variety of shows.

This hotel was not great at all...From the pics on the net, it looked like a beautiful place to stay. You walk into this place and the furniture in the lobby looked as if it came from a garage sell! I was expecting high quality because of the price I paid. Boy was I wrong, the room was totally rundown. What an unexpected suprise! I will never ever stay at this hotel again nor will I recommend this place to my friends and family.

My 1st choice for my next trip to Branson

My family of four spent Labor Day weekend at this hotel. I ended up with hotel because I went through Hotwire. After reading some of the reviews I was very nervous about what I would find. We absolutely LOVED this hotel. The hotel seemed very clean and updated and I didn't see anything that appeared to be old. After driving around Branson for a couple of days, most of the hotels appeared very old and I can't believe people were complaining about the Radisson being old. They also gave very good suggestions for places to take the kids. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a junior suite. It was beautiful and nothing about it seemed old. My kids especially loved the jacuzzi tub. They gave more toilitries than what I've gotten in a five star hotel, plus two chocolate chip cookies on our bed every night. EVERY staff member we spoke to went out of their way to be helpful and they were so friendly. After we arrived, we ate lunch at the hotel restaurant. The kids got to eat for free so I wasn't expecting very good food. The food was excellent and it was nice to see several healthy choices on the menu. On our last night there the fire alarm went off, because of the negligance of some parents not watching their kids! When we checked out the next day, they had taken our lunch charge off and apologized for the alarm going off. I was shocked. This would definitely be my first choice to stay at the next time we go to Branson and for the money, it's a heck of a good deal! However, Hotwire gave us the same rate Radisson was offering and I had to pay their fee so next time I will go directly through them.

Poor Pool

The service was good, friendly staff. The hotel appears new and nice from the outside, yet the rooms are old and worn. The pool area is EXTEMELY small and not able to accomodate the hotel guests comfortably. They desperately need to expand the pool area. I have 2 small kids and will not stay at this Raddison again.

First time at Raddison

My family and I spent three nights in branson at the Raddison. We all enjoyed it. It was exactly what I expected. It was very clean and quiet. The concierge was very helpful in getting tickets to attractions. This hotel sells two day tickets to silver dollar city for the price of a one day pass. Other hotels may also offer this but, I didn't see it advertised anywhere.

We stayed at the Radisson Hotel Branson for two nights. The room we reserved featured a bank of windows across the front and another window on the side, affording great views of the city and Ozarks. The hotel staff were very attentive and courteous. The room was very clean, but the bathroom could have been better maintained (black stain in the sink and a floor that could have used a good scrubbing). Still, we really loved our room and the hotel and would definitely stay again.

Not horrible, but pretty old!

We usually rent a condo or stay at the Marriott Horizons when we visit Branson, but I decided to stay at the Radisson because it's where my daughter's group was staying. For $200.00, I rented the "President's Suite"; with a large family, I figured it would give us the most room. The suite wasn't horrible, but it certainly wasn't worth the money I paid for it! The furniture was worn & becoming shabby, the carpet needed replacing (dirty, large stains), and the springs on the sofa bed were falling off. There are skylights in the rooms; great, if you enjoy getting up at sunrise:) The highlight of the stay was the wonderful gentleman, a fellow guest, who made balloon animals for my youngest children. The hotel is obviously an older one, and is in dire need of updating. I won't stay there again.

Not too bad

We stayed at this hotel on a band trip. I was not expecting much after reading the other reviews, but it wasn't too bad. I didn't find any bugs. We had a corner room that was fairly large. I felt like the room was dusty and I think it was because we had four windows in our room, all with heavy draperies. They probably should be taken down and cleaned. Our band is a large band and there were over 550 people on the trip. The staff gave us a great breakfast each morning. They had multiple serving lines and there was plenty of food.

We have been to Branson before and have stayed at a cabin by the lake. I usually prefer that so we can cook and eat some meals in our room. I probably wouldn't stay at the Radisson for that reason, but they really took good care of our group. The hotel seems to be in a good location also.

Not the best

The hallways were hot and felt as if there was no air flow. The front desk lost our reservations and was not very friendly about it. The waitresses in the restaurant were also pretty snippy. The only friendly, helpful staff were the cleaning lady and the bellhop. The hotel is outdated and needs a full cleaning. But when we did forget something in our room, the management staff was kind enough to mail it to us. There are much nicer places for less. But if caught in a bind, will do.

Top Local Tips for Branson

Roy Rogers & Dale Evans Museum It's a very nice museum and a not for profit, too. Refreshing, considering the blantant commercialism of Branson.

Lambert's Cafe Do go to Lambert's if you like good southern home cooking. It is up 65 a ways going toward Springfield but worth the drive. We actually ate at the one in Sikeston which was on our way to Branson. Stop and catch a roll. Totally awesome food and fun.

Lambert's 30 miles outside of Branson in Ozark July 3rd 2007. HUGE crowd outside of Lambert's Home of the Throwed Rolls at 2:00 in the afternoon, but stayed because of the reviews. Waited just under an hour and glad we did. I had country ham, which was tough and salty just like the menu said. Mashed potatos and Turnip Greens for sides. Mom had the Chicken Fried Steak with cucumbers and onions and cole slaw. Both of our meals were great! The pass arounds were macaroni and tomatos, fried potatos and onions, fried okra, black eyed peas, and of course those great rolls that they throw at you. Will definitely go back when we visit Branson again. A great value for the money. Both of our meals were right around ten dollars for all of that food. You can have as much of the pass arounds as you can handle. They serve your food in big skillets so that you have plenty of room for the extras. Staff was friendly and attentive. A must do if in the Branson area!
