Nice place but little action...tight comps too!

Just got back today (7/10/04). Sights were nice....bay, the ocean strip, etc. Casino/hotel was very nice. Rooms were exceedingly comfortable. Buffet was more of a "feed lot". We ate at Brulou's....EXCELLENT!!!! Islandview Cafe great for casual dining. Staff at hotel was friendly. Casino staff was so-so. Some went out of their way to help.....others acted like I was a burden to them. Machines were TIGHT...didn't see/hear any jackpots. Table (Blackjack) was fun. My dealers were friendly and fun. All in all it was a decent trip. I dropped a lot of money between me and the wife and couldn't get a comp for 1 night!! Go figure!

We went to the Grand last week, and let me tell you what a great trip. Since it is so close to home, a few of these trips a year will do just fine for me. Very impressed with everything. Only thing is we didn't win in the casino. Guess we will have to try next time. Thumbs up!!!

Grand Casino Oasis Hotel - Gulfport

We stayed at the Grand Casino Oasis Hotel in Gulfport, MS for 5 days in early April. We were impressed by the hotel in general and the rooms were very nice and roomy. The pool area is awesome and great for kids. There is a beach right across the street. A couple of things I did not like include: 1. they charge guests $10 to use the fitness facility if you want to use it. When I stayed at their Tunica, MS property last fall there was no extra fee for using the fitness room. 2. as one of the previous reviewers indicated, the hallways are noisy - especially with all the kids running around. It doesn't help that there is a quarter inch gap around the perimeter of every room door and the doors easily slam shut. You would think they could invest $10 in some door weatherstripping and some pneumatic door closers to keep them from slamming. 3. they charge $1 for every local call which I think is ridiculous considering the cost of the room. That would be understandable at a Motel 6 but not here.All in all it was a pleasant stay but they do have a few items they could work on.

We went last year (Feb 2003) to this hotel-- had fantastic time-- staff was great-- food awesome-- casino had good loose slots!! lots of fun-- we truly enjoyed ourselves-- went to the spa for a little R and R and were quite pleased!! we're going this weekend to the sister hotel in Gulfport and hope we get the same service!!

Stayed at Grand Biloxi Bayview

Just came back from Biloxi 4/16. Stayed at Grand Casino, Bayview. The Hotel, Rooms, Staff and Service were Very Good. The Casino did have it all, however, if you play anything less than the $5 Slots, forget it because the slots are "very tight", was there 5 days, did not see one jackpot. Visited Casino Magic Casino next door, same tight slots (Although maybe I'm just used to Atlantic City and Connecticut where there is some action). Played a lot of poker after 2 days of getting burnt by the slots. The table games have $5 minimums, all of the dealers were fabulous and they have the nicest poker room, friendly and fun. They have a lot of gambling action from the locals (including drivers 1 - 4 hours away), who by the way are very nice as well. Could bring your kids to Grand Casino as they have a supervised kids area until 10PM and the property seemed quiet and safe... Don't know if I would go back again, I'm glad I went once though. Who knows!!!

In my opinion the Bay View Hotel is a first class establishment, we stayed in a Suite on the 9th floor from the living room to the Jacuzzi in the bathroom that two can fit in with no problem , I have to say this Hotel is very nice. The pool area has a heated pool with a nice Jacuzzi & pool bar, very relaxing place.The whole place including the Island Hotel part, they have 7 restaurants & bars. One of the restaurants has a buffet for $5.99 can't beat that. There is alot to do at this resort, I could go on and on! In conclusion, we stayed at the Island View Hotel for one night, that's the part connected to the Casino. It's fine, if you are there just to gamble, but you can use both hotel resources anytime, they have a climate controlled sky walk for both hotels. But, if you are there for the pool & the spa go with the Bay View you won't regret it. If you have any questions feel free to email me at kcarp7@lycos.com

I just returned from Biloxi and since I have always read the reviews posted in order to gain insight to a hotel, I wanted to share my experience with others too.

From the moment we arrived, we were treated in a friendly, courteous manner by everyone. The bellman was most pleasant and the desk clerks were bright and helpful. Checkin was a breeze.

Our room was clean and pleasant and even the beds were comfortable. The maid service was excellent.

It was easy and safe to get to the casino and restaurants via the walk-over to the other building.

There is nothing negative that I can say about our stay at The Grand, Bayview Hotel. It was a great room and the rate was wonderful too.

So go and enjoy and hope you hit a Jackpot!

We stay at the casino/hotel at least six times a year and we love it.
The staff is always so kind and go out of their way to make you happy..
Great places to eat, especially LB's steakhouse.

The Grand is an exceptional place to stay and to play!!!! The only down-fall is that every one knows this, so it tends to be pretty crowded. We loved the room we stayed in (was gorgeous), staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The casino is beautiful but again too many people. Hard to get on slot machines!! But regardless of the crowds my family and I will stay and play often!!!!

We were here on Christmas Day 2003. They allowed us to check in early, there is an arcade for teenagers, the casino is a lot of fun, and the $5 buffet deal is one of the best bargains ever--the food was great for the money. Ms. Bauer at the front desk was uncommonly helpful when we asked about a restaurant that used to be in Biloxi: Rosetti's has become The Schooner and is a fine place for seafood. A splendid deal for the money.

Top Local Tips for Biloxi

Go to the Hard Rock Just play there a bit and you can get great comps.

Plan ahead Many of the things that we wanted to see or do were closed due to hurricane Katrina. I recommend contacting the place that you would like to visit to see if they will be open and what hours before you go.

Not much else to do Do not go to Biloxi expecting anything but casinos. There are very few other things to do there. I saw a couple movie theaters and the Beau Rivage had some high end shopping. Other than that, nada. Also, keep in mind that the Grand Casino DOES NOT have a poker room, contrary to what the website says. That was one disappointment. Really, the only disappointment. The other casinos, less than a mile away all had poker rooms. We had no problem driving down the road any time we wanted to play poker.
