Top Local Tips for Biloxi
Ship Island We enjoyed our trip to Ship Island. You ride a ferry to the island 12 miles off the coast. During the ride, we saw dolphins, pelicans, and more. At the island, my kids loved the beach, and my husband and I rented 2 beach chairs and an umbrella ($20 for the day). Bring plenty of sunscreen!
Main attraction Biloxi has many casino hotels so if you're looking for that type of action, this is the place to go. They are reasonably priced for accomodations compared to what we'd pay in the Northeast. And this looks like the only thing keeping this little town going after Hurrican Katrina. If you're looking for a relaxing beach stay, not here.
Casinos are back after Katrina All the beach casinos are active, including Hard Rock. Nearby Boomtown casino also busy. Lots of reconstruction going on in other parts of Biloxi including restoring or rebuilding the old homes along Beach Street/Highway 90. Restaurants along Beach Street are still missing so need to eat at the casinos or drive back to the freeway. Beach Street boardwalk is still being reconstructed but the white beach looked beautiful, even in December. Biloxi positively is working on its city.
