A Wonderful Experience at the Hilton

Our stay was fabulous from the moment we walked in to the moment we checked out. We had superb service from everyone we came across. The room was nicely decorated and the bed, oh the bed! It was so comfortable I hardly wanted to get up in the morning. I also loved the height of the sink in the bathroom-I'm tall so having a high sink makes life just that much easier. The pool was a tad smaller than I would have hoped but the water was warm. I loved that you could see the sky while swimming. The restaurant was just okay. It was a bit pricey so we didn't eat there often. The shuttle to the mall was prompt and if there wasn't room for every person, they just sent a second shuttle without making anyone feel like we were putting them out. Overall, we had a great time and I would absolutely stay there again.

Great Hilton for Business Travel but Expensive

I stayed at the Hilton Minneapolis near the airport for multiple stays over that last month. This Hilton is very nicely done with an attractive lobby and pool/recreation area. Check in has always been very fast and easy. The restaurant is nice with very good food. The bar is lively with good food as well although it can be rather slow in the evenings if it is busy and there's only one waitress working. Room service comes from the restaurant and is therefore very good as well. The rooms are rather small with very tiny bathrooms. The rooms with king beds have more room but are still rather small. The decor is new. If you use the executive lounge, they had been renovating it and it was relocated to a suite that was inadequate and not very comfortable but that should change once the new lounge is renovated. The hotel is close to the Mall of America, but not really within walking distance. They have a free shuttle to the mall and the airport that seems to run smoothly. The metro station is also not very close. It is a long walk to the metro station and almost half way to the Mall of America. Another concern is that this hotel can be very pricey for the accomodations. I have consistently paid greater than $189 a night to stay here. This is a very nice place to stay for business travel but for leisure I would stay down the road closer to the mall for cheaper rates.

Traveling w/your Pet, this is the place to stay

When searching for a hotel in the Minneapolis area, we needed one that would accept Pets, and I was very happy to find that the Hilton did. We were in Minneapolis to attend an annual function with other Bulldogge owners, and a few of our friends were also staying at the Hilton with their dogs. The hotel staff was extremely accommodating, and I believe that we were at all times, gracious guests.

Our room was very comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable and the linens crisp and clean. One of the most outstanding services was the Room Service! Since we were traveling with our dog, we decided to order in something to eat when we arrived late on Friday night. To say we were surprised at the quality of our meal from the in-house restaurant, the "Blue Water Grill" is an understatement. It was delivered quickly, and it was delicious. Well, after that experience, we didn't feel the need to go out & search for a Restaurant. We ordered in every meal. The extensive, full menu was not lacking in any sense. We certainly did not have to compromise just because we were traveling with our Dog and did not want to leave him crated in our room. For that, we say Thank You!. I'm only sorry that we did not have room for Dessert, and it looked tempting!

Thank You, Hilton for offering your Pets Allowed policy. It made our trip to your City so very, very nice. We only hope that the guests traveling with Pets in the future, continue to conduct themselves in a responsible manner so that we may again have to opportunity to be pampered at your Hotel.

Good value, for a priceline win

We won this hotel with a $47 priceline bid for a one-night stay. We were looking specifically in this area, as we were both shopping the Mall of America, and wanting to ride the LightRail to the Metrodome to see the Twins play. The hotel itself if appointed very well, as you'd expect from a Hilton property, great lobby area with sitting area, gift-shop, and two different eateries/bars also on the ground floor entrance.

The Room, quite smallish, 2 double beds (the front desk declined when I phoned in advance to request a single King or at least a Queen for my pregnant wife's benefit). I'm certainly not qualified to offer opinions on the decor in the rooms, but it did look a little dated. The bathroom was nice, but the countertops were very high, I stand 6'2", and the counter was right at my waist, or even a little higher... my 5'4" wife (with her belly) wasn't amused.

The biggest positive was the location, we had a Light Rail stop about 2 blocks from us, and the Mall of America was about 1.5 miles away

The most glaring negative has to be those beds. They're small, and they were rather uncomfortable, much tossing and turning between the two of us, as we couldn't ever get comfy in them as they were extremly hard.

All in all, I can't complain about winning this property with a sub $50 bid, but the refusal of a King, and the hard bed puts the review at a 3 overall.

Very nice hotel but one problem

Reserved through Priceline but we were treated very well. Had a room with a view of the airport and national wildlife refuge. Unfortunately, it was dark all during our short stay. Employees friendly and helpful, especially the shuttle driver. Dinner and service at their most expensive restaurant was more than good, especially the prime steak. We checked out the indoor pool and spa which looked nice, covered with a dome, but the level of chorination was simply awful-very dangerous to the lungs, especially childrens'. There is a way to disinfect water that doesn't cause such damage. To use so much chlorine is simply lazy and stupid!

A great sleep

Recently my wife and I stayed at this Hilton for 3 nights from a priceline booking.

For our purposes the location was excellent. Very close to the Mall of America, Ikea, and many major retailers (ikea, MOA, best buy, rei, babies r us, usababy etc) all places we expected to shop at. In addition, the location is close to the a state park and two large lakes, creating a beautiful view from our 6th floor room.

The hotel itself was very good, with most every amenity you can name. The restaurant was very good, but the morning breakfast buffet was not to our liking. For breakfast, consider the incredible Embers Cafe (a diner just a 5 minute drive down the 494, near lynbrooke exit).

The room was nice, except the carpeting is showing its age. The bathroom is very nice, but notice that you are positioned a long way from the mirror, and the height of the sink precludes effective use by some (eg children). The biggest problem with the room was keeping a cool enough temperature. You get in-room control, but the coldest setting just wasn't adequate.

Staff were friendly and helpful, although my request for a different pillow was never filled, and I was unable to reach the front desk through the in-room phone despite repeated attempts.

Final anomaly was that both my wife's and my eyes were very red in the morning. The effect cleared up by mid-morning, but we could only attribute it to something to do with the bed or room. (and no, nothing to do with staying up late or booze of any sort)

We would definitely pick this hotel for our next trip.

Hilton was a good airport hotel

I stayed at this Hilton after a business trip to Wisconsin and had a 7am flight out of Minneapolis the next day. There was a shuttle that picked me up at the airport - even had a dedicated phone at the ground transportation section of the airport. Check in was simple and fast - the staff was friendly. The bar/restaurant looked very nice, although I did not go in. The lobby is very classy and well kept. My room was large with separate sleeping and living areas. The bathroom was clean and modern - somewhat small but certainly acceptable. Overall, the room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. I used the Mall of America shuttle - very convenient and free of charge. It's a great way to visit this shopping mecca without worrying about driving and parking. A shuttle leaves/picks up once an hour. Airport shuttles begin promptly at 4am and run every half hour - mine left exactly at 5:30am. It drops off at a somewhat inconvenient location, but probably not the hotel's decision.
Overall, my stay was short and sweet. I thought the hotel was somewhat overpriced so probably would not stay there if I was picking up the bill. Embassy Suites is right next door and most likely has a better room rate.

Hilton is just okay

The Hilton was nice, nice restaurant. And the lounge was comfortable.The rooms were clean and well decorated. The king room wasn't as nice as the double room though. The pool was freezing cold, we couldn't even go into it at all. The whirlpools were nice though and the pool area is nice looking. The location is great though, easy to get to, easy to get to the mall and the Light Rail.

Hilton let down

I stayed at this Hilton for a few days in early September - had a number of meeitngs so it's proximity to the airport was very useful. In fact I would echo most of the postive comments in other reviews- good location, excellent room and very comfy bed and most of the staff were quite helpful. However a couple of incidents really let the Hotel down. I had had a rather lengthy cross Atlantic trip so was a little tired but didn't want to go to sleep too early as it would throw my body clock. Decided to pop down to the bar for a drink and a light snack as the Executive lounge was closed at the weekend. I had been given a voucher for a couple of complimentary drinks. The bar wasn't very busy but it still took some time to get a drink - and several requests to see a bar menu. My drink was delivered by a different person to the person who had taken my order - she also took the voucher. I then ordered some food - after which I tried to get another drink. Firstly they denied that they had taken the voucher, then they said they had lost it , then said it couldn't be used for drinks with a meal! I was too tired to argue so I just paid the bill and left.
A couple of nights later a couple of colleagues and I finished a meeting quite late and , foolishly, decided to retreat to the same bar. Although it was only about half full it still took us about 15 minutes to get a drink. We had grabbed some menus ourselves this time - which seemed to annoy the waitress - she couldn't cope with a food order and a drinks order at the same time. We then had a really long wait for the food (which I should say by the way was very good!). We also had the pleasure of watching another couple of tables going through similar experiences. One table of 6 actually got so fed up with waitng that they left - complaining to the duty manager on the way. They were then harangued by same waitress and we were left with the unedifying sight of the waitress swapping insults with a couple of the departing party.
In summary I would say the hotel is fine but unless you like staff with a real attitude problem then I would steer well clear of the bar!

Nice hotel, great beds, great location

We stayed here the weekend of 17 Sep 05. Our room was clean, tastefully decorated and the bed was heavenly.

We had a lovely view of the Minnesota River Valley and a nice walk in the park immediately adjacent to the hotel. Even though the hotel is right off the highway and a stone's throw from the Mall of America, we appreciated its proximity to nature.

We had the breakfast buffet and the food was tasty and the eggs were actually pretty good for buffet scrambled eggs.

The weekend rate was the same as the Holiday Inn Select nearby (where my relatives were staying) but much nicer and the Hilton permitted our dog.

I recommend the Hilton without hesistation. It is a very nice hotel.

shop til ya drop get a locker to put your jacket i so you do not have to carry it . then when you buy something you can store it

If you have a family and want to do it all.... Look into "The Big Ticket" at the visitor website http://www.bloomingtonmn.org/The_Big_Ticket.asp We did the zoo, the Imax at the zoo, the Aquarium at MOA and unlimited amusement park rides for one price. You can check out the details at the website suffice it to say you might save a little money. Here is my tip on this thing....print it out at home and then go to the NORTH entrance of the mall to the MOA store and get your MOA coupon book then go under the ferris wheel and find the stairs that lead to the ferris wheel ride entrance, look for the GUEST SERVICES office and take your print at home tickets there to get the wristband for the rides. I wastes so much time trying to get the coupon book at other MOA stores and standing in line to get the wristbands at the ticket counters! The aquarium, zoo and the Imax were no problem. Actually we were told to bypass the lines at those attactions and head to the "members only" lines!

cleanliness To hire someone representing management to inspect each room before the next guest arrives. If that is not possible, to deep clean each room once a month, If that is not possible, get letters of recommendation from the people that are hired to clean the rooms, if that is not possible, hire someone from travelocity or hotels.com to rate this facility monthly, by doing so not only is the hotel held responsible but the companies inspecting are held responsible also.
