Historical Traveller Reviews of Doubletree Hotel Dearborn

from Neysmith
This hotel is fabulous. My husband & I booked the Henry Ford Package. The receptionist was really welcoming and helped us with all our questions including finding a road map of Detroit for us, then after handing us warm cookies, walked us to the elevators. She also drew a map to show us the quickest way to The Henry Ford. (The Michigan left turn!) The facilities are as everyone else has described, very nice and free wireless internet so you can send your holiday snaps home before you get home yourself!

Wonderful stay!

Booked this hotel via Hotwire for a 6 night stay. Couldn't have been happier with this hotel. All hotel areas including rooms were kept very clean and well maintained. Hotel has an indoor & an outdoor pool and 2 indoor hottubs. We used the indoor pool and the hottubs. They were nice. The business center offered complimentary use of 2 computers with internet access and printers (printers were always well stocked with paper). Security at this hotel is the best I have ever seen. A security vehicle patrolled the parking lot 24/7. The beds were super-comfy and triple sheeted with quality linens. After sleeping in that bed for 6 nights, I was disappointed when I returned to my bed at home. All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. I had not one complaint about this hotel!

A winner in a tough town

If you're looking for a hotel in Detroit, this is the place for you. The hotel looks great, the staff is friendly and welcoming, the beds are comfortable. The location is fantastic as well; easy to find, not too far from the airport, close to restaurants and the Henry Ford.

Rooms are awesome nice and clean-the beds are superior. We did the Henry Ford Museum package. It included 2 attractions, room and breakfast for 4. It was a wonderful value and easy. They had an outdoor pool and 2 jacuzzi's. Didn't seem all too crowded. I would definitely not hesitate staying there again.

Ps...if you have teenagers or are an adult who likes to take their time checking out all the suff in the museum, you will need an entire day their. Also, you can also spendd the enitre day at the Village.

Doubletree Dearborn experience

from Stats14
The Doubletree in Dearborn has to be probably one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at in a long time. The beds were extremely comfy. the warm cookies they give you for checking in was delish.

I just had a few problems with the Doubletree. When I checked into the hotel, I booked with expedia. I doublechecked with the hotel that my reservations were comfirmed. Expedia changed my reservations and I had just wanted to double check I was going to be okay.

The young lady who was checking me in had this look on her face like there was some sortof problem with me checking in. I preceded to ask her what was going on. I told her I had called to cofirm my reservation and recived that comfirmation. I had also pulled out my cofirmation itinerary from Expedia, to show her I was really staying there.

The hotel is very-very-very far away from the main city of Detroit, and THERE IS NO SHUTTLE!! Somehow or the other I found my way to downtown Detroit (but would not recommend anyone else to do it!) You definetely need a car to get to this hotel and around Detroit.

Checking out I also had a problem. Just so you all know there ATM machine was not working before I checked out and the front desk person told me that the machine can be a hit or a miss sometimes. So remember that if you need cash try to go to an ATM machine in town.

I had further questions, but the young man doing so had moved on and I didn't want to seem rude and interupt there conversation. Overall the staff there was just not too nice to me, if I can find something else closer to downtown I would def. stay there first!!

Great Hotel

This hotel was a great stay for numerous reasons. The hotel had 24 hour security paterols and the hotel was also surrounded by a wall with barb wire. I won't explain why other than the hotel is in one of the better areas of Detroit.

The front staff at the property were excellent. The cleaning crew did a terrific job and were extra friendly.

The room was very clean and had a fantastic king size bed and they had free in room internet for your laptop.

We were very satisfied with hotel and would stay there again any day.

Excellent Service, Great Facility, Close to the Henry Ford!

from Stogie3786
My wife and I stayed for a single night with our two young sons near the end of April. Took advantage of the Henry Ford package which included 2 tickets to two sites at Greenfield Village. The package also included Breakfast at Grille 39, the upscale restaurant in the hotel.

We knew we would be arriving VERY early, (around 9:00 AM), and called a few days ahead to see about picking up the tickets and checking some baggage. We were told this would not be a problem, and were pleasantly surprised upon arrival (9:30 AM) to not only receive our package tickets, but to discover the room was ready as well! We quickly found our room on the 6th floor which was spotless, smelled very fresh/neutral, and was exactly as requested. The pull out bed for our little guys was perfect, and arguably the most comfortable I have experienced. (I took a short nap with the 2 year old the next afternoon.) Bathroom had a large granite countertop, Aveda products, and plenty of plush, oversize towels & washcloths. The Tub/shower was clean, and larger than what I usually expect in a 3-star establishment. Finally the King size bed was very comfortable with loads of pillows. I received a call that evening from the front desk asking if there were any things that they could do to make my stay more enjoyable. Later, I called for one more towel and a blanket for the pull-out. Two towels and the blanket were brought within 2 minutes!

The next morning we waited for about 5 minutes for a table to become available for breakfast at Grille 39. Great atmosphere looking out into the large lobby. Buffet was above average and the service was impeccable. I don't think I encountered a non-smiling face during our entire stay - what a great impression.

We wrapped up our stay by spending some time at the indoor pool. The pool is moderately sized in a great room. Very clean, great temperature and plenty of towels. Two large hot tubs are available, and we encountered only a few people the entire time.

My wife and I are top tier elite status with Radisson (Carlson), and only stayed at the Doubletree because of a lack of Carlson owned facilities near Dearborn. After this stay, I could consider changing loyalties if Hilton provides this type of experience at all of their properties. Highly recommended.

Good, average hotel

from Gundi
Stayed at the Doubletree to be in Dearborn near the Henry Ford. Check in was great, nice room with super bed and creature comforts. Free wireless is fabulous. Breakfast in the Grill was included in our package, and it was super. NIce fitness area with adequate equipment. Only drawback, doors are thin -- and you hear all the noises in the halls. Since the hotel is right beside the freeway, that is the view. Would I stay again, that would depend on other options -- but it would be a good contender.

Top Local Tips for Detroit

The hotel is best if you have a car This hotel works for anyone with a car-if you don't have a car or if your a public transportation nut like me. Then def. stay somewhere else!!

Don't miss The entire Henry Ford campus is awesome . Plan enough time!--I'd recommend 6 hrs in Village and 3 hrs. each at Ford plant and Henry Ford Museum.

Henry Ford/Greenfield Village The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village are excellent attractions - great values, amazing history with something to interest everyone - beautiful venue. High recommend.
