Southern Fire The best soul food EVER!!!!! We ate their two nights!! Its a short drive from the hotel. East on Jefferson to Bellvue (Wendy's is on the corner to your left) turn left. GREAT FOOD!!!

Winsor, Ontario If you want to go out after a game in Detroit, try Windsor, Ontario. There are buses that run back and forth through the tunnel. It costs $2.75 each way, but only runs until about 1 AM. After 1 AM, it is very hard to find a cab back to the US, and will cost you $50. Windsor is just a party town and that's it.

Jazz Festival We attended this free event and all seating is first come, first seated but there are usually about 5 or six groups performing simultaneously on various stages. Bring a folding concert chair if you can. You may need it but there is seating at every stage. The 'famous' groups get huge crowds so get there early to see and hear them. Watch out for the ones that are too loud. there were two groups where you needed ear plugs even very far away from the stages (not jazz btw, but blues). It's a very cool event, safe, clean, well attended and great location near the river so even in the heat there was a coolish breeze from the water.
