| Strange bedfellows |
| At first glance, this looks like an ordinary, modest motel, nothing fancy, but perfectly comfortable. By the end of a night's stay, however, I had tallied up a number of surprises, none of them pleasant.
First, the room smelled as if it was last opened on a muggy day last August. The odor of mildew permeated everything, and a sweater still smells of it, though it has been airing for the past three days. I was exhausted, and thought that leaving the windows open and the heat on would help the mildew smell. Also, I doubted that other rooms were any better, so I did not complain, but tried to get the best sleep I could. Imagine my surprise the next morning when, getting out of bed, I found that a large insect carcass had spent the night in bed with me! I don't know what it was, but it wasn't a fly, and ant, or any other ordinary bug. It had pincers in front. I'm just glad it was dead! I got out of that room as soon as I could! And on top of it all, the rate charged ($76 per night) was far from the cheapest in town. Definitely think twice about staying here - unless you like surprises! |
